WW2 but with a Communist Germany instead of Nazi (and a Communist Victory)

Thank you for doing this timeline. I think it would be very possible for the USA to turn Fascist in 1940s in this timeline, and for China, I think the North Expedition/civil war might end in 1929, since they had to march into Ningxia and Xinjiang to defeat Ma family warlord and Sheng-Shih Tsai. The Muslims in Xinjiang during and after WWII would continue to fight in guerilla warfare and become a local riot there, as in our timeline (under KMT and Mao Zedong). However, in this timeline, since communists had unified most of China, the guerilla warfare would gradually be put down, so it would not be a great problem for Chinese government. After WWII, maybe in 1938, China would invade/unify Tibet, as Mao Zedong did in 1950. It is also possible that in 1933-35, Japan invaded French Indochina, like what they did during WWII in our timeline, to compensate their losses in Korean peninsula.

France would be divided into 2 regimes, Free France led by Petain and de Gaulle, controlling the remaining French African colonies, and Democratic France, the communist client regime like Vichy France set up by communist Germany, the "DDR" for Germany in this timeline. Free France would have two offices, one in London, the other in Algeria. It is possible that Free France after WWII would fall under American influence, since UK would have their hands full on their own problems within their own colonies, and it would be interesting to discuss that whether a "contested" regime being parasitic on its colonies without its mainland would survive. The British Commonwealth would form, with Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa being its members. Ireland, India and maybe Hong Kong, who reached independence by war or revolution, would stay out of British Commonwealth. Malaysia and Myanmar would have communist uprisings, where Churchill government would intervene, and turn into bloody wars, same as Indonesia (former Dutch colonies) and Indochina (French and later Japanese colonies). There would be no Israel, because Israel in our timeline was a Crusader state created by US intervention. In this timeline, Comintern dominated Eurasia, but has almost no navy to project their power through Mediterranean sea into Middle East except Iran. Jews (as long as they stay apolitical) would feel happy to live in communist Germany, because a lot of KPD leaders were Jews, and there were no anti-Semitism in communist block. USA would have Marshall plan on only two destinations: UK and Japanese Empire, giving cheap oil, money, food, ammunitions, and tanks. Germany would have similar plans like Comecon on Western European communist states after their economic reform/recovery.

@@bhcovothidoi Yes, after Japanese Empire conquered Indochina, I suggested that Viet Minh would form, led by Ho Chi Minh, he was also a founder of PCF, so definitely they would have a resistance movement/guerilla warfare against Japanese rule, and the war atrocities would follow. Same for French African colonies, the people would rise against Free France, and maybe Britain and USA would support Free France to fight the wars in Africa in order to extend their influence, but they would ignore French Indochina, and let Japanese fought by themselves, only gave them money. With Comintern occupied all Eurasia, it would be possible that India started to have a proletariat revolution after independence, and turn into civil war.

Interesting take. But there seems to be some misunderstanding of some of the terms. There is no such thing as "communist government" or "communist country" as communism is a "stateless, classless, moneyless society". The term you are looking for is "Socialism". A good way to think about it is that communism is the final goal and socialism is one way, as suggested by people like Lenin, to reach it. Communism currently only exist in fiction such as the human society in Star Trek. A capitalist nation is described as a "nation dominated by the free market" so a capitalist country makes sense. But to remove confusion, all countries, in a sense, have a capitalist economy. The USSR and Cuba for example, can be described as "state capitalist" (state controlled market economy) as opposed to the US "mixed economy" (free market economy essentially but with state regulations).

As a Brazilian and Spaniard, I thank God that it didn't happened. Fascist scars from Franco were less worse than communist scars from ex-soviet nations and Yugoslavia. Just look at the Balkans today. And Brazil is far better today, despite its dictatorship backed by the US, than it would be if the communists gained power in 1964. Both Franco and Brazilian Military Dictatorship were terrible, but it was less terrible than communist ones. Thank God they didn't won.

Entire region infrastructure was built under Communist regimes. If you point on Yugoslavia then blame Tito for installing ever increasing markets and decentralizing the country to the point where everyone started to share it like predators, look on Post Soviet countries today, I myself live in Kazakhstan, and your capitalism brought little apart from deindustrialization and oil dependency, as well as the current situation in Ukraine. Also it would be silly to assume that Yugoslavia without communism would survive that long given how Croats easily jumped at Serbian throats the moment opportunity appeared.

@@ivanserov1846 Well, Yugoslavia was an authoritarian and multi-ethnic regime, mainly controlled by Serbia. It was obvious that, at some point, it would collapse. The serbians would need economic, social, political and geopolitical expertise to make yugoslavia stable in LONG TERM, and they didn't had the to do so resources in the XX century. Centralizing and Radicalizing even more the regime would make it fall even faster. The infrastructure of the Balkans wasn't built thanks to communism, it was built because USSR were a superpower and backed it; a "prosperous balkans" (at least in Soviet standards) was in its better interest regarding the Cold War; and no matter what regime Russia had at that time, considering its massive land, industries, resources and manpower, it would be capable to influence and to help with its vassal states infrastructure (Russia had geopolitical visions and interests in the balkans since the XIX century, when it was an 'capistalist'/'semifeudal' empire. It's like China, Building infrastructure around the world. It's not because China is communist (although China and Russia are, nowadays, authoritarian capitalist states, not communists anymore because communism failed in both countries). China doesn't build infrastrucutre in south asia, africa and latin america because of its ideology, but because of its geopolitical interests, and because it have resources to do so. Same with URSS and its alies/vassal states (not only in the balkans, take Cuba as an example). Look at every ex-soviet republic in 1990 and look at them today to see that their new capitalist regimes (including russia) wins at EVERY METRIC (economic, social, infrastructure) against the Communist counterpart in the 90's. Look at the Baltic States. Look at Poland (it is said that Poland is going to become a power inside the European Union). Why the BIG majority of the people runned from Communist Germany to Capitalist Germany? Look how prosperous Germany were in its western side. Look at capitalist Germany now. The capitalist system is just more efficient than the communist one. Thats why US-Western Europe (now EU) have won the Cold War. That's why USSR, Yugoslavia and China have, one by one, either collapsed or abandoned communism (like China did.)

I have an idea for a vid, there is an important war in the history of our world that is often overlooked. By that i mean the 1920 Polish-Soviet War. This War is very often overlooked in history even tho it played a very important part in shaping WW2 and thus the world as a whole. During the War Russia Almost conquered Poland but during an event called "the miracle of the vistula" Polish forces menaged to hold on by a thread and defeated the Soviets thus stopping the red expansion into europe. For me it would be interesting to see an alternative world where the Poles loose the Battle of Warsow by for ex: Czechoslovsaks attacking poland with more force then they did in our timeline in 1919 at the start of the war. Soviet victory in this war would mean that USSR would have a major control in central europe and it would give them more resources that the Germans used in our timeline during WW2(mostly slave manpower). Also victory over Poland would open the gate for an earlier attack on the Baltic states and other countries witch would majorly strengthen the USSR. As a Pole im very happy that we won the war in 1920 but i was always left wandering what would hapen if we didnt. Also, i hope you liked the idea :D

You're quite right, I think it's an important battle. I wonder what would have happened if Poland and Ukraine had made an alliance from the very beginning, and if the Western powers had given more help and created Slavic states close to what Poland wanted.

I think the commies in this timeline are a bit more powerful than they would be, as Germany was still not as strong in the thirties. Plus the allies wouldn’t necessarily invade right after Czechoslovakia. However this is an interesting timeline and not nearly as unrealistic as some other ones. Great job!

Iran is a mountainous country full of valleys, it is basically a bigger Afghanistan and we have already seen how difficult is to fight there. Meanwhile the Arab countries to the west are mostly desertic flatlands were the huge Soviet army would have a brutal advantage against the way smaller British and French colonial armies, way more than in Europe.

1:00 You've skipped way too far ahead already. You need to establish how the other countries between Germany and Russia have revolutions as well. i mean, I suppose they would with the two biggest powers between them being Soviet Republics, but still. Also the 1930 Czech annexation needs background to it too. Then we need to go into France as the internal politics were complicated too, but sure I can see it staying democratic as well. The UK definitely does, I agree. Also why is Trotsky the leader of the USSR? He wasn't well liked among the Bolsheviks, and there is a clear reason Stalin was the one able to come away as the successor. Now even if Stalin still isn't the successor, I would argue there is no way Trotsky is the guy. Maybe Bukharin instead. No way it's Trotsky.
