MadLane sorry but it makes me sad that they get to make shit for music and still have listeners and good sales, only because of the popularity they have had in the past. Plus I think it's stupid that Slayer, Anthrax, and Megadeth don't get nearly as much attention as what Metallica gets. They all make better music and are better at it. And of course this is my opinion... but really they have sold out because people like them because they played thrash metal. Whenever they switch to alternative music or just rock... they are selling out. They recognized with the black album "hey! We can still make some money off of alternative music... so let's not put as much effort in and just all around suck and still make money!" That's what happened...

I don't have a personal issue with people liking whatever bands or artists they want. I know I like a lot of bands that a lot of others wouldn't like. However, some of these bands the wrestlers name dropped aren't Metal and I do know Metal music extremely well. Some things and topics transcend mere opinion and are facts. Case in point if someone told you 50 Cent is a good Country music artist I'm sure you would think they didn't know what REAL Country music was at all when they heard it. It's not an opinion that 50 Cent isn't Country music, it's a fact he's not.

Guns N' Roses for starters. A great band once upon a time with strong relevance that was and IS a Hard Rock band. The other is Mushroomhead. They were part of that whole Nu-"Metal" movement and the definition of what made Nu-"Metal" was a cross of Harcore and Rap. Where the Metal is in that musical equation I still have yet to figure out after all these years. Just because a band can play fast and hit a lot of crazy sounding notes (like Mushroomhead) doesn't qualify them as a Metal band, contrary to popular opinion. They're no more of a Metal band than Slipknot.

Actually, the definition of "nu-metal" was not hardcore and rap. Nu-Metal is made up of heavy metal's riffing and aggression without the solos and a DJ/Sampler. Usually augmented with a percussive bass guitar.

The definition I gave of it was the definition of it at the time and that was around 2002 I think. I'm not at all surprised years later they changed and reinvented the definition to give a more realistic connection to it being Metal. Either way none of the bands from that movement were Metal to me and still aren't. A lot of Grindcore bands got the label of being Metal and they weren't. Grindcore's roots go back to Punk and genres that evolved from Punk like Hardcore for instance. Nu-"Metal" was not and isn't the next step in Metal musics evolution.

Miz is a big fan of mushroomhead and Goldberg listens to disturbed. Respect to them both, mushroomhead and disturbed are great bands that have stuck to metal (unlike some) and hardly ever get mentioned. Especially Mushroomhead.
