I never understood why Hogan needed Jimmy Hart as a manager. Managers are usually needed for wrestlers who aren't good at cutting promos (or in Yoko's case, a manager is needed as a translator, since his gimmick is a Japanese sumo wrestler who doesn't speak much English). But one of Hogan's strengths was his promos, so why did he even need Jimmy Hart in the first place? Also, "There's children crying!" Cut to several shots of children not crying. 😃

When Brutus the Barber Beefcake returned, yet again, to the WWF (after he returned in 1993, where he left in 1992, after his last 'Barber Shop' segment, which was owing to Sid Justice, who'd now turned heel, wrecking it) [he did these 'Barber Shop' interview segments, as of the summer of 1991, one year after his parasailing accident, where he had to take a break from wrestling], his parasailing accident is what made him have to wear a mask, when he returned to wrestling, in 1993, where he wrestled Ted DiBiase. This is where Jimmy Hart's face turn came in (yes, Jimmy Hart becoming a face manager, after so many years of being a heel manager) - when IRS (Ted DiBiase's new tag team partner, since April 1992's WrestleMania VIII, where they formed the new tag team 'Money Incorporated') [and after Ted DiBiase was disqualified, hence Brutus won the match, after Money Inc. double-teamed him] hit Brutus's face, with his (IRS's) briefcase, Jimmy Hart (who was Money Inc's manager, until now) became horrified at the sight of this, thinking his team had gone too far (hence he was no longer the manager of Money Incorporated, and now enemies with both Ted DiBiase and IRS) [and hence their match at WrestleMania IX, for the tag team titles, against Brutus the Barber Beefcake, and his new tag team partner - that racist, as the new formed team 'the Mega Maniacs', which Jimmy Hart now managed]. I pray this answers your question.
@glennwelsh97845 жыл бұрын
@@shermanvermin76 I appreciate the explanation, but I didn't really need the Wikipedia page about the kayfabe reasons for Jimmy becoming Hogan's manager. It just seemed unnecessary for someone like Hogan to have a manager at all. He didn't need one to talk for him and get him over, which is the primary existence of managers in wrestling. He was HULK HOGAN, the most over wrestler of the 80's and 90's and whose promos were so good that other wrestlers would mimic him ("Let me tell ya somethin', Mean Gene...!"). For those reasons alone, having Jimmy as his manager seemed utterly redundant. If they wanted to give Beefer a manager, that's fine. He was never very over, so giving him a manager might help lend him some extra clout. But Hogan absolutely didn't need one.
@anthonyanderson93039 ай бұрын
@@glennwelsh9784 To your point, managers with babyfaces is completely pointless. The whole idea of a manager in wrestling is to cheat and help their guy win, otherwise he's just a glorified cheerleader out there.
@royalcrumble23844 ай бұрын
I can't remember if this ever happened, but in theory it could function as an easy way for hogan to show his ass without actually losing- he can lose matches via count out or dq because he's saving jimmy from a heel, jimmy can be used against him as a bargaining chip, and if jimmy gets hurt hogan c an take the spotlight to be sad and swear revenge.

Couple of reasons: 1.) Perfect and Bret were both faces, and the industry-wide policy at the time was that big matches had to be between heel and face unless it was to give one of the faces a rub (which Perfect didn’t need) 2.) As a face, they didn’t want Perfect taking Bam Bam’s place as being “skipped” directly to the finals
@TheCraigy1113 жыл бұрын
@@Decetop "the industry-wide policy at the time was that big matches had to be between heel and face". The main event was originally supposed to be Bret vs Hogan (both faces), but Hogan being Hogan wouldn't play ball so it was changed to Yoko vs Hogan instead. Less than a year before Savage vs Warrior for the title, both faces and both didn't need a rub, but I do disagree with Perfect not needing the rub, he was never pushed as a main eventer even though he was miles better than most. The second reason being the skip directly to the finals? They wouldn't have had to book Perfect that way since he had much better conditioning than Bam Bam's and wouldn't gas out.
@TheHappiestMeal3 жыл бұрын
All things aside I think this order was great for the story. They needed Razor to batter Bret and Perfect to exhaust him before a final match. In short I think he gained more from winning the finals after a match like that from Perfect. Now people will remember Perfects match and the finals, not just the finals. A huge push for The Hitman.

Yet another wrestler we've lost (and, of course, died too young) - I know it was a different sort of drugs that Mr. Perfect died from, but I just like to see steroids as the sort of drugs most wrestlers die so young from (I've an idea steroids are what caused Hercules Hernandez to die so young, only in his 40s, in early March 2004). I know Jim Neidhart died from a fall (he was in his early 60s, when he died, hence wasn't that old), but *he* possibly took steroids, which led to the fall he died from (even if he had the sense to never take steroids, it was possibly that bad man - Vince McMahon - who everyone hates - who got him onto them). This merely shows the sort of person Vince McMahon is. Oh, and I'm aware steroids are what Big Boss Man died from (especially as he was very young - only in his early 40s).

I was never really a fan of old school wrestling and overall not a big fan of the new generation era. But the OSW gang selling Perfect VS Bret made me see why it was so damn good. You don't see those little things of psychology and character development anymore. Mr. Perfect is damn good... Shame they never got to showcase his son like this.

And now *both* wrestlers (Bam Bam Bigelow AND Mabel) are deceased (both died young, sadly, especially where the former died from steroids, which are drugs; the latter would have died from his weight, which would be how the likes of Paul Bearer died, and definitely how Andre the Giant died) [Paul Bearer definitely did die very young].

@@OSW Jay! Always nice to hear from you, man. There's a few factors that made me enjoy this. For one, I think this timeline is the proper follow up to the initial series. Of course, you needed a break from the chronological order-- but now that you're back, you all haven't missed a beat. There's a certain enthusiasm you guys have about the shows.KOTR 93 is also - unlike the other 1993 shows barring maybe Summerslam- a really good PPV. Though there's enough bollocks and carny garbage for it to still be hilarious. Also, Bret Hart is my favorite wrestler of all time, and I think you all appreciate his work the same way I do, and it was most evident in this episode. Anyways, cheers man. I'm pumped for Royal Rumble 1994. That's one of the pivotal shows of my childhood. I was so rattled when Owen turned on Bret ... err sorry about the spoiler ;-)

1:00:31 That right there is how you do a show of respect spot after a match, handshake, pat on the back, done, imagine if Hogan did it, he’d be there celebrating longer than Bret, or if it was like a woman’s match nowadays where they just hug at the end and also both celebrate for a stupidly long time.
@ArchangelSteve4 жыл бұрын
One of the greatest tragedies is that we never got a Hart vs. Perfect feud; imagine how good it could've been if, after the Lawler storyline had finished, Perfect came back to Bret and was all "I haven't forgotten that loss, I want a chance to get my win back and prove I'm still perfect", and as the two battle back and forth across several matches it becomes obvious that Perfect can't keep up with Hart, so he becomes more obsessed with beating Bret, becomes more desperate to win with every loss, and acts more and more heelish both inside and outside the ring, building to one final, ultimate meeting at the next Mania/Summerslam. You could have it build to a blatant heel turn, or you could have a Hart/Piper moment where Perfect's almost beaten Bret via evil heel means before he suddenly realises what he's become and turns back face to accept his loss, it could've been an amazing story full of brilliant matches. God I'm sad now, I've just fantasy booked myself into depression...

This is the first time I've seen Bret Hart wrestle Curt Henning, and it's just absolutely mesmerizing watching these two masters of the craft work together. Just creating this momentum, sprinkling in these subtle little touches that uphold their characters, their psychology, there's an ever-present tension of a heel turn from Perfect (sold beautifully by Heenan), and just phenomenal ring work by both men. 11/10. Also love the Killing Joke artwork, and I say that as someone who hates Killing Joke.
