Wesley is Carlsen’s nemesis for a few years now, but the Chess Federation would always make sure Wesley was not always included in qualifying as Carlsen’s challenger for the World Championship. They have different made-up methods for qualification that makes sure Wesley was not included. I think it’s too obvious Carlsen was being protected from losing his seat since he was a champion.

Too bad, we won't see the greatness of Wesley in the Candidates. He's already 30. He's still got a shot at it when he turns 32, 34. Time is almost running out on his peak form - is slowly slowly declining, maybe. I don't know Anand's age when he defeated Kramnik. If Ding Liren is able to successfully defend his crown, then I want to see Wesley against either Ding or Fabiano in the 2026 championship. Dominguez and Aronian are still good both close to 40, but obviously not at their peak anymore. And then there's Alireza and the Indian prodigies. Go Wesley!

It would have ended the game right there. Mag bishop takes then So bishop takes mag's bishop, which ultimately compels Mag to sac the queen anyway or he has to take the pawn on the G file: if not then So's G pawn would take the pawn over and check at the same time forcing the king to move to the only available space beside the black rook. Which ultimately leads to So's queen moving next to the king under the protection of the bishop thus ending the game.
