Not to take anything away from anyone else, but it’s really inspiring to hear a GM doing commentary on a game at this level.

It is absolutely mind blowing that Kasparov DOMINATES nr.1 blitz player in the world, two decades after he retired from the sport.

I was given a kasparov electronic chess set as a kid. I had no idea how to play. I learned by playing on lvl 1 and eventually I got better. Fast forward 20yrs later and I'm still playing. I will always remember you mr Kasparov and I appreciate you for the countless hours of fun(and headaches) the game of chess has given me over the years. You were the best then, You're the greatest now.

Kasparov the legend. Practice and form may be overrated when someone is this gifted.

💖As someone slowly approaching 50, It does my heart good to see Gary "Chess" Kasparov _STILL winning games_ at his age.
@ninjaxd90502 жыл бұрын
Honestly I don't think age is limiting his chess prowess, I just think he is done with studying 12 hors a day after so many years on top. Keeping up with the theory must be exhausting for professionals.
@psymar2 жыл бұрын
@@ninjaxd9050 I suspect it would still limit him in longer time controls -- not because of any reduction in his ability to think, but in his endurance. Playing top-level chess for 6-8 hours is not easy on the cardio, as anyone who has played Magnus in a drawn endgame can attest!

Chess is not a physical game, nor is it a fast instinct game (although it does help) but what is more important is building knowledge and intuition on the moves, which means the longer you played chess, the better you will be at the game. Age is not as big of a factor compared to other sports.
@sylver762 жыл бұрын
@@missionpupa Look at the FIDE ratings and you'll see very few older players at the top. Chess players usually peak at 30-35 years old, which is not really different from physically demanding sports like MMA, boxing, Judo.... Chess is a physically demanding game in that you have to keep going for hours and hours, and if you are not in good shape, if your back hurts, if you get low blood sugar, get sleepy.... you underperform, which at the top level means you get slaughtered. Guys like Kasparov and Anand who remain competitive in their later years are extremely rare, and even them... they were absurd monsters in their prime who now look quite human. Old Gary would crush the field, by a wide margin. Now, he can still win the occasional game, but he is lucky if he doesn't get a last place finish in a tourney.
@missionpupa2 жыл бұрын
@@sylver76 yeah, but everything you mentioned is not a consequence of age, its a consequence of bad lifestyle. So, just to clarify, im not saying that age is not a factor, I said age is not as a big of a factor compared to other sports, which is why Kasparov is able to beat Nakamura. You would not see current elite players in lets say basketball, football, tennis etc. to lose against someone in their 50's or 60's. That just doesnt happen in other sports.
