Too add to our conversation about shadow work since I did not clarify my feelings on this as clearly as I'd hoped: Therapy is expensive and in most places completely inaccessible! To clarify my part of the conversation on "needing a professional to do shadow work" I don't mean to say that other therapeutic methods outside of traditional therapy aren't helpful. On the contrary! I think we have distorted what "shadow work" actually is to just simply mean looking at the darker aspects of yourself. That's not quite all what shadow work was in the traditional sense. I actually don't think it's necessary at all for everyone to practice shadow work for what it's traditionally supposed to be. But we have taken the term "shadow work" and applied it to basically anything that involves therapeutically looking at yourself and doing introspection. So while I don't think "true" shadow work should be done without a professional, I also don't think it's necessary for everyone! There are so many other forms of therapy (that you don't need a professional for) that help us look at the darker, more hidden aspects of ourselves. Assessing our patterns, naming them, journaling, and working to deconstruct and change our patterns of behavior is so powerful and you absolutely do not need a professional in order to walk yourself through this kind of work. Sure, it's helpful, but as mentioned, traditional therapy is expensive! That's why I mentioned Kelly-Ann's channel where she has a treasure trove of self help information. Anyways, just wanted to add that tidbit. Traditional therapy is not the end-all be-all and I dont want to be discouraging towards those that do not have access to it.

I meant to say, I loved your mention of the Blood of Christ for protection. I often evoke movie characters when raising protection, and some of my favourite archetypes are priests who perform hard as fuck exorcisms and have tonnes of occult knowledge, such as Mendoza the Jesuit priest in Deliver Us from Evil, or Father Merrin in The Exorcist.

Love this series so much and so many amazing and talented people too!! And I would add my answer too is yes some beings and some deities you have to go to their "domains" like the sea or the forest or the mountains or etc to deeply connect with them. It could happen without it but it is NOICE to go to where they have that deep connection with them

The section about belief and how it affects the validity of a hex reminds me of playing pretend as a kid and getting "shot" but telling my friend they missed, so I'm not dead Nobody wins. My friend stands behind their belief that I'm dead, but I don't lay down. Everyone else we're playing with is now forced to take sides if we want to keep the game going😂

This was so fantastic. Thank you for putting this together, Ivy. I’m a solitary practitioner for more than a couple decades, ha ha. Since watching you and several other magical content stars on KZbin, I feel like I’m a part of a community. I was surprised that only one atheme (and I’m not even sure if that’s what you’re calling your knife) was shown. I went to a Renfaire three years in a row, saw this knife, and it was stupid expensive, and finally on the third year I bought it. That was about 30 years ago, and it has been my go to for all energy work. Other than using my mind / body of course. Anyway, thank you. BB

34:30 Huh, Ivy’s description of her belief-model reminds me of a joke term I made, when starting to look into chaos magick: “Quantheism”, where all gods, spirits, entities etc. of all time both exist and/or don’t exist simultaneously and/or not at all (seems obvious I was reading a bit of Discordianism when I wrote it 😅)
@Rommy427Ай бұрын
I was so, so grateful when someone brought up the whole accessibility to therapy issue. It was extremely disheartening to hear statements that could imply that doing shadow work is impossible without therapy. Not only can I not afford it, I would need to find a therapist who specifically can work with issues that affect me as a non-Christian, queer, POC woman and be able to address my mental health concerns. This is a very big ask, even where I live in the US!
@IvyTheOccultistАй бұрын

I'm in AA and the 12 Steps is definitely a magickal practice that definitely gets results -- long term sobriety. The "shadow work" is a list of your personality traits that get you in trouble. It's actually steps 4 through 9. Those steps are actual exercises you write down and tale action on them During the exercises, you list resentments and embarrassing situations and identify your part . How you acted is the shadow. Sometimes it's called greed, sometimes dishonesty. But then tou have to fix it. Like make amends for acting from your shadow. All of this tarot, hypnosis, other stuff is not very accurate or exact. It's more like a hint of the problem. Anyway, I suggest looking at what the 12 steps offers in regards to shadow work. It makes you aware of when you're acting in your shadow and then not. So you're not the problem.

On channeling which was very interesting, I think there’s different levels of channeling from spirit communication to possession. My best method is to use tarot first calling upon my ancestors that support and have my best intentions and have anyone feel free to approach who wants to communicate then I’ll do a pendulum or automatic hand writing. I have clairaudience meaning spirits can speak in my head like Telepathy best way I can describe it’s a radio playing in my head. I won’t do channeling if I’m not feeling well, tired, low on energy cause it won’t be an affective reading in my opinion tarot is fine however. Deities or very powerful spirits varies for me when I first contacted St Michael he gave me hot flashes and hyperactivity not in a bad way but the energy was so strong. Some I can handle I believe deities and spirits also control their energy levels if that makes sense to help for us to be more comfortable. But in my experience the best way for deity communication is either meditation or dream work.

i think the concept of animism has been completely corrupted by spiritists / spiritism. nobody in the world can assure me that that was the original point of view (definately not everywhere, nothing was). it´s more that everything is ALIVE.. for example when you see a leaf or branch waving at you, it really feels that they are animated! it has nothing to do with spirits (it´s more a question of how much room you give for imagination). i call it the child´s mindset, sometimes i say feminine because i´m trying to be polite but it´s actually child´s (also old people, they often start to see things again). and of course people who´ve been brainwashed by organized religions (i've noticed they keep going back to their childhood beliefs, also crazy peer pressure in those groups).
