When Tom died, I was gutted for a year. I lost a close friend to cancer a year previous, and Tom was like my idol, so I was reliving that trauma alongside one of my heroes passing away. I kind of stopped listening to their music because it tore me up. I stopped listening to a lot of music because a lot of what I listened to was Architects. Holy Hell came out, and it was amazing. It revitalized my love for music. I wasn't a huge fan of this first listen. I still had a good time with it, but after a few days it might be my most listened song of the year. Completely agree with you on everything you had to say. LT//LF is my favorite album of all time and I don't think this will ever change. Colony Collapse still touches a part of my soul to this day. Castles in the air is my favorite song, probably ever, by any band. To me, Castles in the air is just the simplest remembrance that everything that happens to you in life, you inflicted upon yourself unconsciously. And I believe the only self-fulfilling purpose to life is to grow from that unconscious state of who you are and to become who "you" really "are" ("being" is a concept - if I make sense). All our Gods was filled with angst and was thoroughly a brilliant album touching on some of the most complex dilemmas of modern society. Memento Mori and the discovery of Alan Watts changed me forever. Beautiful, heartfelt masterpiece. Holy Hell was a great album, but only the title track got me listen to a song on repeat on that album. This one I'm quite happy about. Because, unlike Holy Hell, this one sounds like Architects to me. And it sounds amazing! I quite enjoy seeing that they have a whole new sound they can leverage from to bring their message to a wider audience, and am definitely looking forward to see this one being played live. The synths in this can definitely bring some heaviness to pits.
