Hi there happy hikers and serious seekers. Todays video starts at the source of the river Llynfi a right bank tributary of the Wye in the Brecon Beacons or Bannau Brycheiniog. We then ascend Allt Yr Esgair, drop down to Llangorse lake, which turns out to be flooded. There I get a lift to the Village of Llangorse where I proceed to walk up Mynydd Troed 609 Meters and on into Talgarth. Distance 14 miles. As I walk I remember privately my identical twin brother Paul who died 7 years ago to the day on this walk. The views are spectacular and the natural vibes are all pervasive.

The hills are alive, love that saying Mark. I agree in the wet weather the sound of the water is unbeatable. I could stand by running water all day listening to it. Even in the clag, your walk looked fantastic as always, just love the different colours of the trees, vegetation, moorland, etc. You had fab views over the River Usk and Llangorse, particularly those when you were climbing Mynydd Troed. Glad you met a kind guy like Nigel to give you a lift to Llangorse, great that there are still some good people like that around. More great memories of Paul, always enjoy hearing you talk about him. Great stuff as always Mark, take care down there and all the best 👍

Hey there Patrick, yeah for sure it's not dull just because it's a dull day - I too could listen to water all day. There was still color about and views despite the clag as you say. Stoked with them all and the kindness shown by Nigel. Re-the memories it was that time of year - no matter what I can't forget - glad you were good with me talking about Paul. Well, many thanks as always Patrick. Take care care out there. Mark

Mark, a lovely memorial walk❤Nothing better than when the hills are alive with the sounds of rushing water. Cool to get a workaround hitching that ride and have a chat with Nigel👍 Definitely light energy to be harnessed out in the hills and the outdoors, just seeing things like that woodpecker, the kestrel or the distant waterfalls. It was a mountain alright in terms of presence, effort and weather😊 I have tried lightweight fabric walking boots and have went back to good old leather like yours. All the best for life and the outdoors in 2024.

Great video Mark. I have met some great farmers too. There is the odd hostile one or two in the Peaks but thankfully they are a minority. Great to see the Dragon on the Trig too. Such a beautiful area there, Mark. I've only been up Allt yr Esgair twice and the views are excellent. Mynydd Troed, just the once so far. Even more dramatic from the top! Sounds like you had a great day out and that the strength in your leg is returning. No such thing as a bad view, in my opinion. Clear skies aren't essential. Water will continue to run and flow. I imagine you might struggle at this time of year with Christmas now imminent too but I hope you have a good end to the year and wish you all the best for 2024.

Hi Mark, as soon as you mentioned Crickhowell a nervous twinge went down my spine having spent many a week at the nearby camp. Admittedly it was a long time ago, but the memories are still fresh in my head. The views are amazing around that part of Wales, then you add the kindness of strangers and you're on to a very good day. Love the symbolism of touching the trig point, and i certainly recognise the look of joy on your face. Nature is magic, isn't it. Great video and it looks like a very touching tribute to Paul. I did Allt Yr Esgair recently in a video of my own , went up the opposite way from Penorth- incredible views up there for a small hill, beautiful place and summit area. Mynydd Troed .. firstly I’m glad Im not the only one who huffs and puffs up that steep north face 😂, also I sheltered from the wind in that same spot as you , lovely views and wind free! Cool to meet such friendly locals and see how many great memories you had with Paul .. could see the emotion in you especially at the end .. Finally light energy yes! This is exactly what this hobby provides , so much dark energy in the world , we can only avoid it and fight against it , this is one of the best ways to and live your life outdoors in such beautiful places Peace mate

Thank you for lifting my spirits this morning!... What a beautiful walk. It's a shame you couldn't get around the lake, but how lucky to have met a kind soul like Nigel. Here in Norfolk, we have rivers breaking their banks, we have flood plains but it seems more and more houses are being developed around those plains, where then dies the water go! Isn't it special to walk with memories of loved ones, I lost my dad 3 years ago who loved his walking and I carry him everywhere I go. I always tell him "We're off on a new one today dad," when we do walks new to us. Anyway, fantastic atmospheric video, loved it! Take care, and a Merry Christmas - if you celebrate it - Jenny 😊

@@WyeExplorer Thank you for sharing that with me Mark, our loved ones are truly with us always and Paul will be walking every step with you. Right back when I was a child my dad would say, "Just around the corner," when asked how much further while on one of hikes. Every walk we smile when we come to that 'corner'. Walking heals and soothes the soul - nature is such a wonderful medicine. Take care Mark, Jenny.

Hi Mark another lovely memorial walk for you. So nice since 2015 that they have developed it more. This was such a lovely walk with great views and I love the sound of water too, water therapy Mark ! Shame that you couldnt walk around the lake because of flooding but so good that you got a lift from Nigel. Views from up at the top were stunning but windy for you hehe.Such a lovely place. Have a blessed and peaceful Christmas 🙏👍~ Anna

Hi Anna, thanks my friend - yeah it's that time of year. I love to remember. Re-the source I prefer it without the car park but hey ho people need to get to the castle. I totally agree about the water - what as sound eh? So much therapy for sure - ha therapy in meeting kind folk that will take me around flooded lakes even - that was good. Re-the views I could feast upon them all day. Well, I do hope you're all well up there. Seasons greetings. Mark

I am very drawn to river sources for some reason. Love that you quoted that Miley Cyrus song, excellent! I would imagine that the landscape there looks a bit different than it did 2,500 years ago, less cultivated back then.

Hey, another river source geek - they speak to us Cynthia. Yes, had to borrow that quote - it felt right. Re-the ancient era or was it the Iron Age? they had surprisingly stripped a lot back - many were farmers - semi hunter gatherers. So, not to different. Thanks my friend. All the best over there. Mark

Well that weather looked pretty typical for much of the past few weeks Mark, so fair-play you making the effort. I checked out some of the places you walked on the map and clocked the church by Llangorse Lake. It looks a very interesting area. I'd really like to do some walking in your neck of the woods sometime and will let you know beforehand if I do. Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year. Bye for now, Chris
