Don't be salty this Michiganders will help ya guys out this year with your no elk. Can't wait once in life time hunt for me.

The costs are crazy now! Randy Newberg called this out 2 years ago and said that if you had Wyoming points, burn them. He was correct! I’m now sitting on 15 points that I don’t want to lose, but nearly cannot use. The preference points system has become a wasteland. Had I watched Brady Miller sooner, I don’t think I would have ever started them.

Regular draw prices aren't that expensive compared to other states. If you're worried about it don't do special tag prices.

Gen draw isn't bad now special is just astronomical

@@bobbyperrine4049 2k is asinine for an elk tag. But at least you get the option for a cheaper tag unlike Montana

Another excellent breakdown on Wyoming’s system and their tag 🏷️ types. I would love to hunt elk eventually in Wyoming or anywhere. Even though I thought about trying for the reduced cow elk tag 🏷️ this year, I will have to hold off. I might do Wyoming pronghorn or Colorado mule deer 🦌 with a rifle this year. Not sure 🤔 yet.

$150 for violation of Wyoming NR wilderness ban. That is it, no other penalty. FOIA results summary from WY GFD regarding actual enforcement of the NR Wilderness Rule. WY Statute 23-2-401(a) In the past 10 years: 1. 12 NR hunters were cited for violating WS 23-2-401(a) (a few warning tickets also issued) 2. No hunter was required to return to WY for a court appearance and total cost of violation was the bond amount, $150. Same as all the other simple traffic type tickets in this category of infraction. 3. All of these misdemeanor tickets were marked "no court appearance required" - just like a speeding ticket. 4. No hunter lost WY hunting privileges or was reported to another state for loss of privlieges. 5. No hunter had any property seized (gun, atv, vehicle, etc). 6. Of those 12 violators, 4 hunters were in possession of an animal that was harvested in a wilderness area. Three of those 4 hunters were allowed to keep antlers, cape and meat. One of those 4 harvesters had antlers confiscated as his group hadn't tagged the animal and tried to pass it off as a resident kill. Despite the dishonesty, the warden only took the antlers - and then donated the meat back to the hunter.

I've got orders back stateside and I'm looking to get my son out for a bull while he's still a youth. He's got 5 points and we're looking at the western side. Aside from the significant drop in cost, does WY allocate tags for kids? Are there any other advantages afforded youth?

So if I apply and then choose to withdraw my application before the May application revision deadline (If I draw another state I apply in), will I be fully refunded other than the application fee?
@GOHUNTАй бұрын
You could do that and withdraw your app completely by the May modify deadline, but you won't get your money back until after the draw fully completes.

So as long as a nonresident doesn’t hunt in a wilderness area a guide is not needed correct?
@GOHUNTАй бұрын
Yes, as long as a nonresident does not hunt in a designated wilderness, they do not need a guide.

This is one item that must go away. I can hunt other wilderness areas in other states far more dangerous than Wyoming. This law appears to protect the interests of guides and outfitters.
@Freezer00326 күн бұрын
@@daviddemand6856 It's more than appearance. That law was explicitly written to protect Wyoming outfitters. You can hunt small game, birds, predators, and fish in wilderness without a guide. Only big game requires a guide. I talked with multiple officers and read the statute with them.

I've read the regs, watched this and other videos and I can't discern what I need to hunt elk in Wyoming...I get the feeling they really don't want anyone hunting elk in Wyoming...I also am afraid to go hunting for fear I'd miss some detail and be in violation of the law. Why don't they just tell you what you need to do? Total BS

You need to do more research. Wyoming absolutely wants you especially non residents to come hunt. Hell you can hunt the second season on a gen tag and shoot a cow

Wyoming has terrible elk management and elk populations. Everyone including the go hunt team should stay out in 2025😂
