I think I'd go with pledge for the rails. Safe on the wood is probably the most important part.

Late reply as I just found this video, I would never put pledge on anything wood of mine. It contains silicone, and will make it very hard to refinish or do other things to it in the future. A non-silicone or wax based product is more ideal

You can find details about the different woods and sizes along with their costs on the Kickstarter where this was purchased. My table is a medium black walnut.
