I would love to hear your CFO talk about the new tarrifs that might be put in place and how it could effect your business. I enjoy seeing the business side of things! Love ya guys!

I don't think the dumbass will put the tariffs in place, it was all bullcrap talk from a moron. He'll claim the threat of tariffs was enough. Last time when he put tariffs on it was devastating to farmers and they had to spend hundreds of billions to bail out farmers. It's like building "the wall" where they only got a few miles built, less than the previous president. Same with the mass deportation lies, they'll round up a few thousand people and claim victory.
@ninjunc3 ай бұрын
I too love the business details. Be sure to cross-reference any cost of production impact (positive or negative) with actual business volume, though. For example, if your raw production cost went up due to tariffs, but other economic factors allow more customers to buy, the net effect is positive. If costs go up and the economy still sucks (like it has for 4 years), then we're looking at a net negative.
@ScytheNoire3 ай бұрын
@@ninjunc So you think wages will go up under Republican rule? The party that has been keeping wages low for decades. You actually drank the Kool-Aid and been ignoring the facts of what has actually been happening. Corporate profits are at an all time high while people are paying more and actual inflation is at 2%. Huh, why are prices so high then? Oh right, because companies raised the prices during the pandemic when there were supply chain issues, and then kept the prices high so they could earn more profits at the suffering of consumers. Greedflation.

Any of their domestic wood supply would be unaffected by any chance in tariffs. However, any wood (or hardware) that gets imported would be more expensive

"Tips n' Tricks" Wyrmwood eps might be the new move. Fun to watch, with people we all already feel like we know personally, and not too much pre-production needed. Great idea, keep 'em coming! Reminds me of some season one and two kind of vibes.

Would also love to see business tips n trick too! I think watching a Startup Vlog if the most compelling offering for WL. There's literally NOTHING like it on the internet. And all those business folks got lots of cash to burn (usually you start a company AFTER you've made bucks--like Doug and his BTC xD )

Would love for this to be a recurring episode, say once a month or something as "filler"! Not much planning, easy edits. Maybe even spread out who gets asked--would be interested to hear from the marketry people especially, I'm sure there's lots of helpful tips and tricks for the really fiddly bits of woodworking!

I'm going to be watching this one a LOT! Great tips! I wish to add one to Doug's tip that I use: Instead of feeling the airflow on the shopvac exhaust, tape a piece of wide ribbon to the top so the exhaust causes it to flutter. Now you can visually check the air flow. When the ribbon flutters less, time to clean the filter.

It's crazy how many people say they hate math but what they mean is: I was traumatized by algebra in highschool. The way Ian found the middle point asked a deeper mathematical understanding than simply using algebra.

Tip and trick, some shop vacs have a special button on top, which redirects the air so that instead of pulling air through the filter it pushes it out and cleaninn the filter.
@nSnowCrow3 ай бұрын
Some shopvacs have also an auto-shake function to hit the filter after each use. Loud as hell but they safe a lot of work and protect the user from the dust.

guess trial and error it three times over the course of a minute (based on all of the cuts), or figure out how to divide something by 2 (it’s basically 2 7/8ths, give or take the thickness of the pencil lead). What a tip. There are slide rules that do this, which list the half number for every measured increment. Second, there are Center finders that are cheaper than that combination square. Or use a woodworking calculator app if you really need assistance. The real tip is switch to metric. 5 11/16ths might take 10 seconds to divide by two, but 144mm takes about half a second

No need for the inside/outside thing on the jointer! When you line them up and draw your shape simple fold them together like you're closing a book and run them through the jointer at the same time like that. It doesn't matter what angle your fence is at they will mate perfectly. GEOMETRY!

As a lover of woodworking and teacher of science (including some math), I respect and see the math aversion every work day. But I have a couple of things to add. First, using these tips that require less math are often *more accurate* because of the precision and decreasing chance of a math error. That is more important to me than hating doing math. (Sometime, to be sure, I hate dealing with the arithmetic.) But second, it's not the fault of math that we hate it: it's bad teaching practices. There's some good literature on why math is so polarizing (at least here in the U.S.), and it seems like it's the tradition of poor teaching and not the subject itself. I write in defense of math because it can be incredibly empowering and beautiful.

Finding the middle is so much easier if you just measure in metric. It's 220 mm, so draw your center line at 110mm, and boom, done. Americans and their fractions are so silly. Always making life harder than it needs to be. In America water freezes at 32 F and boils at 212 F, instead of just using 0 C and 100 C. Silly Americans.
@HandlebarWorkshops3 ай бұрын
But what if it's 221 mm? There is no 110.5 mm mark on a ruler. And who cares what temps water boils/freezes at? That is only relevant to your life when making pasta and ice cubes. 100F and greater is dangerously hot to humans and 0F and less is dangerously cold to humans. That has relevance to my everyday life.
@Inductable3 ай бұрын
The reason Ian hates math is because he's been forced to use the gross imperial system. Embrace the purity of metric, where you can instantly tell if one measurement is bigger than another. *cough* 5/8 and 9/16 *cough*
