This is why I’m here. I just remembered a couple of days ago that I used to split my guts watching this guy but for some reason he’s not showing up on KZbin anymore. I’m thinking if he was still at it he’d be selling out shows still. Me too, I hope all is well with Danny.

I lived in Metz France for five (cinq) years.....we had our French language education in roadside cafes.....les hotels de la gare, en marche de puces but our French teacher newly arrived from Quebec.....was re-assigned to be the home room teacher for our french speaking students so we were given German language in lieu.....jawohl....! And preferred to learn our francais avec vin de jour.....AU cafe.....!

I remember failing French just like that.
@jazzydragon44985 жыл бұрын
This is so relatable! 😂 To me, it seems like a lot of language classes teach you how to speak and interact with other speakers in a more polite/formal/"normal" manner. But, as we all know when it comes to language, there are many other nuanced things like slang, what's considered socially/culturally acceptable, and general social behavior that isn't always mentioned in language classes. It's kinda hard to just teach stuff like that in a class setting anyways though.

its funny because in Canada you take mandatory french age 6-14 (in ontario at least) and yet your proficiency is still shit by the age of 15 bc that^ was exactly how it was taught across the board so like i can shop at a grocery store in paris but it's gonna involve at least 2 minutes of sheer mime
@DominicBlair5 жыл бұрын
Yushan Cong In québec, we have to take english from age 7-17.

"In Ontario at least"? Where I went to school, we didn't start French until Gr 4, so that's age 9. Has the curriculum changed? I've been out of elementary school for over 10 years now.
@Blaze64323 жыл бұрын
@@EndlessSummer888 It depends on province. But from my understanding, alot of schools have heavily cut back on French education simply due to the lack of purpose it serves in most peoples professional lives.
@EndlessSummer8883 жыл бұрын
@@Blaze6432 I don't think it's as much lack of purpose as it is lack of French teachers and teachers who know French. Our country is severely short-staffed with those. French teachers are getting hired right out of university because they're so in demand. In fact, that's one among several reasons I'm majoring in French in university right now.

When I was a teenager In the early 80's, our teacher who was very old fashioned used an early 1960's sort of equivalent of allez France. We had to study a long chapter of the mutiny on the Bounty. So we learned vocabulary so very useful and easy to place in a conversation such as northwest wind and flogging. The latter would have been very useful should I decide to work as a dominatrix but that's about it.
