I LOVE these old guitars! I have a 1965 Harmony Archtone and looking at the first Fender acoustic guitar, made by Harmony.

LOL, I just logged off of the Loothalong and now I'm watching you work on this guitar while I'm working on a guitar.

I have 3 conversions - 2 Harmony and 1 Stella. 1 spruce top, 1 all mahogany and 1 birch. They're 3 of the best sounding acoustics I own and the birch just may be the winner. The x bracing truly transformed these guitars.

👍🏻 Are all of them 6-stringers?
@EnJoony Жыл бұрын
@harpethguitar Yup - All 6 strings. I do have a dead mint Stella 12 that may be a candidate. 😊

Stella 12-sting was the guitar that got me started in this business ❤️

Holy cow, that’s cool as heck!!! I’m a big life-long Martin fan and I love X bracing. Have never heard of or even thought of converting an old ladder brace guitar to X. Great idea. I know it will be more stable, but I’d love to come up with some experiments to attempt to measure how it changes the tone.

Nice! I've heard other older ladder-braced Harmony/Stella/Silvertone/etc guitars switched to X bracing and they all have sounded great. Tom Bukovac has one and he can make it sing.

Saw the same; some luthier that specializes in hotrodding those budget guitars and turning them into beasts.

To be fair, Bukovac can make anything with six strings sing! 😜

WOW! I've never heard one of these style guitars sound that good. This is a great demo of how much better X bracing works for tone and volume. Always thought they sounded like crap because of substandard materials and craftsman ship. I guess that's what ladder bracing is.

Great video. I have a 72 H112 that has had the back off and braced with Martin style X braces. It's made a massive difference in it's sound.

I think its a shame that it has become a trend to ruin vintage ladderbraced guitars by x-bracing them. Leave those invaluable unique pieces alone for someone who loves them.
