Awesome video Jeff, I work as a Ramp Agent for Contour Airlines in Saint Louis, you're actually flying my afternoon shift, lol. Some neat tidbits: our maximum configuration in all of our (11) ERJ-135's is 30 seats which allows for more leg room than the tradition setup of the 135's. And you're flying N16501 which is the exact plane we are using for this route at this moment. Keep up all the great content!

Part of your problem with the FMC is because you're not activating a flightplan. On the right CDU, you see where it has departure and arrival? Because you didn't put those in, that is what is causing your problems with the FMC not taking the routing. After you initialize the FMC, you go to the Flightplan and do your departure and arrival airports and then the route (sans departure and arrival procedures) at the bottom. Once you do that, you hit EXEC. Now you can go do your departure and arrival stuff and finally the performance information. Performance is last because it changes based on the information you entered in the route and departure sections. In the real world, the V1 will change based on the runway selected and winds entered in addition to the weight, so having all that set beforehand is why it complains when you're going through the PERF INIT pages. Also, V-DEP is "Visual Departure". That's in there to let you climb on runway heading to a safe altitude before making the turn. There's no reason to delete it.
@jacobroy91075 жыл бұрын
Chris Trot I didn't even know the 135 came with this (I'm assuming a Collins) FMC. Most of them are Honeywell units. Jeff in almost every FMS, the order of operations in programming is INIT REF, FLTPLAN (including DEP and ARR), then PERF INIT, with verification of the correct route in the LEGS page. Each step builds upon information given in the previous steps.

Guess you weren't the only one that didn't like the easter eggs because they added an update to remove those now if preferred. I do think this is the best regional jet for X-Plane right now, and it's a great transition plane in my opinion if someone is looking for a step up from general aviation / turboprops into the commercial airliners. Enjoyed the video for a second time, Jeff! Thanks for the work on sharing these.

Observations of Simulation and Your Procedures: -Gust lock did not start engaged. -You turned the batteries on in the wrong order. -APU is started on pump 2, pump 1 does nothing for starting the APU. -Switching the pumps between letters isn't really necessary. They are there for redundancy. -Avionics should be OFF to start APU. They add unnecessary electrical load which can lead to a failed start if the batteries have poor voltage. -You failed to do the fire detection test before starting the APU. -You failed to turn on the nav lights, indicating APU is running (exact rules on that vary between operators) -Windshield heat, and ice protection should all be off before engine start, and windshield heat should only be used during frosting conditions. -You need to run the APU for 3 minutes before turning on the APU bleed. -I didn't see you load a start position for the alignment of the AHRS. -Not a big deal, but most airlines fly with the APU always running. -You left some of the ice protection in the off position. -You used the rudder to steer. This plane is steered with tiller for taxiing. -Both sets of wing navs were illuminated despite the system having a main/standby toggle. -Gust lock lever was in the locked position when you mentioned it being unlocked. -You said C instead of CHARLIE (LOL) I work with 145XRs. Fantastic planes, I really love them. This simulator model looks VERY nice overall. Fantastic stuff.

"most airlines fly with the APU always running." That logic is along the lines of driving down the road with a dump valve open on your gas tank. Just burning money at that point. Maybe per certain EP's but certainly not ALWAYS.
@SanctuaryReintegrate5 жыл бұрын
@@cobra10908 The ERJ has no ram air turbine. Running the APU is a safety precaution for the event of a dual-engine failure. Also, the T-62T is pretty small. Its fuel draw is tiny, even at maximum load. It only sucks about 50-100 pounds an hour based on what I've clocked on the ground. With the small hops the ERJ takes, that's basically nothing. And the mechanics burn more fuel with them than the pilots ever could anyway. We can leave them running for an entire shift on just the extra fuel the last flyer landed with.
@LanoKnowles4 жыл бұрын
SanctuaryReintegrate a lot of things your saying is correct but a lot is also incorrect - the gust lock did start in the lock position but it’s probably a sim failure as to why it wasn’t locked - the batteries were turned on in correct sequence 1 then 2 - nav lights should be turned in after the batteries are on - you must complete the fire test before starting the apu - only pump two is needed for apu usage but if your fuel becomes imbalanced you’ll need pump 1 to crossfeed - the apu generator comes online at 95% plus 7 seconds and you should allow it to warm up for 3 minutes before bleeding the apu - cross bleed should be open when running the packs off the apu - you don’t have to hold the apu to the start position, you can just click it there momentarily - you don’t have to turn the packs off for engine start when bleeding the apu, it’s automatic -avionics must be off before apu start - the apu is usually off after start for fuel conservation and apu life - all ice protection should be in the on position except the windshield heat. They should only be turned on after start if the aircraft is equipped with a post mod PPG windshield and if it’s not it is turned on in descent -the fadecs are to only be reset and alternated after start, it’s not a “alternate” fadec but most companies equip their aircrafts with a post mod that automatically reset and alternates the fadecs after each start -you can use the rudder to steer but it only gives you 5degrees of steering either side so you can’t use it for deep turns -you don’t have to hold the engine start switch down for 5 seconds either just momentarily - when shitting the apu down you press “stop” then allow it to spool down before turning the switch off I can go on and on but it’s a great aircraft and great modeling

@@redhawkformations8692 youll find that cockpit design and placement of buttons and systems has to be relatively universal. its a very hard thing to design and when one aircraft gets it right most follow suit, making it easier to maufacture aircraft and easier for pilots to move to one aircraft from another with minimal training, hence less money spent by airlines. what im saying is, everything is usually in the same spot no matter what aircraft.

Just the way you had trouble entering the OAT I can't seem to enter the cruise alt on the perf page. Luckily u can enter it when entering the waypoints. I have that issue with FLC as well and I have been opting to use v/s. I hope in future updates these things will be addressed.
