The X-Cutioner is like the Punisher. They're both pretty crazy. The mutant criminal and mercenary Tower was one of those he eliminated. Which didn't stop him from engaging in combat with several X-Men. He wanted to kill Jason Wingard, the Mental master, kept on Muir Island while he was dying from the effects of the legacy virus and decided to go through the X-Men to do so, even going so far as to injure Colossus, causing him to be trapped in his armored form due to the risk of dying if he did returned to being flesh and blood. And he also didn't have a very good view of the group due to members like Rogue, being a former member of Mystica's Brotherhood of Mutants, Gambit, for his criminal history or even Jonothon Starmore (A.k.a. Chamber) due to his accidental involvement in the death of his girlfriend, during the first manifestation of his powers. The X-Cutioner generally made little distinction between its targets as guilty or innocent.

The show’s version could see himself as vigilante, hunting down the “ evil x-men”, in order to protect humanity. Vigilantes often believe they’re doing the right or heroic thing. Besides, the friends of humanity certainly lied to him about their intentions and what the x-men represent.
