That game was a gem, and the best part is the PC version runs nicely on modern systems despite not having access to the PS3-exclusive DLC (but there's always RPCS3 for that). I was really surprised it went for a full M-rating too that was almost unheard of in superhero movie tie-ins at the time.

He missed one of the biggest controversies from the time. For what I heard, Ryan Reynolds was nearly removed as Deadpool, and barred from further portrayals of the character, due to him protesting, well, everything they did with Wade Wilson. He begrudgingly agreed to stay on because he wanted to eventually make a faithful adaptation of the character, which of course lead to the 2 legendary films (haven't seen Deadpool and Wolverine yet)

I love how William Stryker, an anti-mutant bigot who in the comics, is even under the belief God gave him a mission to kill every mutant on Earth, and who spends this movie kidnapping like two dozen mutant kids and caging them, not only allows Logan the capacity to consent whether he gets drugged up and has an indestructible metal drilled into his skeleton, but also goes through several hoops to give him a fake wife and a staged murder, all in the hopes he will be angry enough to politely ask him if he could have a bunch of needles shoved down his body, even though in the comics, Weapon X had no problem capturing and brainwashing him, and it is even implied in X2 that'show it happened. And all this while his master plan isn't to actually kill mutants, it is to take their powers and combine them into a Frankenstein mutant. They really just wrote this as they went along

After learning about the Ryan Reynolds/Deadpool situation that went down during X-Men Origins: Wolverine, I'm thinking they may have had their homework copied a bit by the recent Ducktales remake. Cliff Notes Version: Darkwing Duck is a comic character in the Ducktales world and a childhood hero of Launchpad's, so he's thrilled when he gets a sneak peek of the rebooted Darkwing movie on Scrooge's movie lot. He's horrified with how tone deaf the character of Darkwing is portrayed in the movie and chalks it up to Drake(Darkwing's actor) not understanding the character. Launchpad goes to chew Drake out, and is caught off guard when Drake agrees with Launchpad's assessment. He's even more of a fan of Darkwing than Launchpad, and landing the role for his first major gig was a dream come true. When he saw the script was way off character he tried to get the executives to shift it toward a more comic accurate version, but his pleas fell on deaf ears. Realizing that pushing the issue would probably just get him replaced with someone who didn't care about the character of Darkwing at all, Drake decides the best way to try and get a more accurate version is to do his best with the version he's presented with, hoping that a successful movie will give him more leverage in the future to push for a truer version of the character. I dunno; maybe I'm crazy, but I definitely see some similarities.

More like Crappool , cause he misses the point on who the Merc with a mouth is, oh yeah the X-Men Origins Wolverine lacked one so he isn't even that, I hope whoever Fox Suit that demanded these BS changes for the film got thrown out of Hollywood for what he did, ruined what could've been a pretty hype origin story film. At least we got The Wolverine and Logan out of the deal.

I’ve never bothered learning anything about this movie because I just assumed what happened was the typical Hollywood studio BS, but it really seems like Fox was committed to making the worst Wolverine movie they possibly could. What a comedy of errors, no wonder Disney was able to buy them out.

I still remember when my mom dragged a barely 10 year old me to this movie. I had no interest in superheroes at all, so I literally knew nothing about any of the characters or their original backstories going in. All I remember was that by the end of the movie, I ran out of the theater shouting "I'm Wolverine!" And it kickstarted my obsession with superhero movies (luckily for me, this was right when the MCU was getting started)

I thank god that the Origins Story movie about Professor X and Magneto was canceled. They were even going to CGI to horribly de-age Ian Mckellen and Patrick Stewart, but that thankfully fell through, and some elements of that movie would make it into X Men First Class.

GAWD I remember as a *really* young lad without any exposure to the internet when we came across a (suspiciously early) pirated copy of this movie only to find that it is indeed the leaked workprint of the film. It was SO weird to see everything with incomplete VFX and with all the stunt wires intact, and now, after almost 20 years, I see how it came to be.

The aforementioned set that had to be 'repainted 'was the Casino. In that set, Wolverine is blasted through a wall by Gambit and then the movie cuts to a fake New Orleans alley behind. My first day on set, as an SFX tech, I was preparing that exact 'exploding wall' when something broke out o set. An argument. The producers had arrived and a showdown between them and the director was about to go down. The entire crew was instructed to 'leave the set' and down tools'. I was still crouched in the wall cavity as every one bar them departed. Literally, like Anthony Perkins, I looked on through a small drilled hole in the set wall and watched that poor man (Gavin) bellow at Lauren Shuler Donner and who I'm now assuming was Rothman as his vision was torn to shreds. Still feel for him and often wonder how he's doing right now (hopefully recovered).

I remember when origins came out G4 posted an article saying that Fox was even thinking of a Magneto origins or Xavier origins movie. Or maybe the writer was making presumptions. It’s funny how we got first class after origins, they combined both of those ideas and scrapped more Wolverine all together.
