​​@@daryoushkhalvat8362 no. It depends more on the size of piping you add. If you add too large pipes, your engine has to work harder by burning more fuel to make up for the loss of back pressure to move the exhaust gasses out of the car. I had this issue when I went to bigger piping - lost 4 mpg and low end torque in exchange for more sound. To make up for it, you need to increase airflow through the air intake. After changing my air intake for more airflow, my mpg and torque went back to normal. X pipe will mostly just change the tone, and give you slightly better HP in the top end, which is great for racing, but not too applicable for daily driving.

The x-pipe setup has a better tone and it makes more horsepower. The true dual is louder and that is all. It also sounds like you have a hole in the muffler and you're losing power. That's a waste of money. X-pipe or the win!

@@GTOHawg On the top end, but you lose more throughout the curve when there isn't as much velocity and load. I added one to my truck and I could feel the difference, didn't try to downshift pulling up hills as much.

Doing a muffler delete on my '94 Impala SS next week. Keeping cats and res, it should sound great. Im here comparing the crossover, dont think i like it as much as true dual. I love the crackle of a true dual. (I had this done on my 08 SS a few years ago, and loved it)

What’s the difference my 83 cutlass came with 3 inch true duals all the way to the back with 2 flowmaster 44 mufflers with some long tube headers sounds good but I don’t think I ever heard a x pipe in real life I rather hear it in person before I change it up

The gray Tundra just needs a different type of X-pipe. Something like a Borla 621104 or 621106 would give it a better mix of X-pipe and "true dual" sound that you just can't get with those pre-stamped X-pipes. The one he has on there causes too much sound cancelation so you don't get the nice pops and bangs and the tone ends up being too "mellowed out" so the revs and take offs don't sound like much, either....

Some think an x pipe is the same between say Borla, Blackwidow, Spintech, Amazon/Ebay or hand made. No one's really done that type of testing to see the angle/pitch or how the X pipe is formed can increase or impede flow dynamics, sound or scavenging etc. Other than x is higher pitched and for higher RPM gains and H is lower and for torque (like a single vs dual intake manifold)

I had a Magnaflow 10791 on my car prior to installing a Borla 60548 and I can tell you without a doubt that the Borla X-pipe has a more dynamic overall sound, that is more crisp to boot...! I paid $100 for the Magnaflow X-pipe and the Borla 60548 was around $350, but I got it for about $170 as an Amazon scratch and dent special, but only the packaging was damaged, not the X-pipe. The car seems to have become more responsive and I don't know if it's making more power, but it sure feels like there's a difference.

Make on a truck true dual straight pipes that has two sport catalysts in the beginning per pipe so it has 4 two 200 and two 100 catalysts and then a middle muffler on both pipes and then split it up to two y pipes so it gets 4 pipes and put a end muffler on each pipes and make so it has two pipes per side sticking out. I have been interested to make it on my hilux but doesn’t have the money to experiment until I find a sound I like

There's H pipes, which are basically straight true duals with one sideways merge. It allows for max flow at low rpm but gives the exhaust banks a chance to merge in between. An H pipe is somewhere between an Xpipe and true duals. H pipes are usually associated with older V8 muscle. They still maintain that deep, non-raspy sound that Xpipes are associated with. Keep in mind you can also have high quality Xpipes that are not stamped and are just two pipes with a hole cut in-between that merge similar to an H pipe but are X shaped. These are the best of the best it's what Corsa, borla, and Carven uses.

On my cars platform the 2012 Hyundai Genesis v8 most people do x pipe but personally I don’t like the sound it’s too raspy for me and loud. But I do like that it opens up the sound of the higher rpm’s. So do you think an certain H pipe would fit my cars exhaust? Right now I have flowmaster super 44 mufflers. There’s a couple that go with the tru-x resonated x pipe for my car… which one you think is best and what size diamter

@@uodavid The exhaust pulses need to be balanced and equaled out in order for the exhaust to flow smoothly. If you cannot equal out the exhaust pulses than you will lose power

@@uodavid what the post above is describing is exhaust scavenging. As the pulses come out of the Exhaust, they have a pocket of pressure behind them that act like a vacuum at certain RPM for the other exhaust pipe that has not had it's pulse pass yet. Both banks relieve pressure this way and aid in scavenging the next pulse. The more pulses/ air flow you can get out, the more torque and power you make

The true duels would have more low end power and torque with a more spread out power band, but the x pipe would have much better performance at higher RPMs and a tighter power curve. The overall horsepower numbers would be similar, the different exhaust layouts just shift the power band around at this level.... If you were building something like a true race car, X pipe would be the way to go, as it performs much better under high compression and high rpms

Honestly, I had a tone problem with my car and I think it's because of the true dual echaust. I need a x-pipe to reduce the rasp that my inline 6 has, I noticed on the true duals it sounds like a fart cannon. I'm hoping this will fix my issue.
