Honestly there are few points in my perspective if Xplane 12 can improve : 1) Scenery - the sound of environment are great , but if can be try as realistic as like MFS2020 it will be great to simulate the real world environment rather than the autogen building that is random. 2) Aircraft - no doubt I highly love the physic as always , second to none. Aerodynamic wise it's perfect but can do more improvement on icing effect and also the wind effect on aircraft. Also, there is some annoying things about the beacon on most aircraft is that it's spinning rather than flashing , we need something that is flashing just like seeing in real world , flash bright and shiny at night. 3) Airport - I see some improvement on the ground vehicles however if XPlane team can spend a little time on add-on more realistic ground crew operation so that we can simulate those people working hard for our aircraft. Both Xplane and MFS2020 at its own pro and con but I do believe if there is combination on it , it will be a perfect place to fly virtually together.

I like the improvements, but I think I'll still use MSFS for most of my flying. I use a joystick alone and to me I never felt the physics never really shine through in any flight sim unless truly exaggerated to an arcade like extent because my input method is quite basic. The MSFS physics engine has more to improve on, but it is the graphics that got it for me. I use flight sim to visit places around the world and see them represented in a fashion truer to real life than any other sim before it. If you are in it to learn and fly complex aircraft or have a setup that feels closer to flying a real airplane, I think XP12 will be a great idea...but for me, the physics never had much of an impact on my experience. I wish them the best.
@yohannessulistyo40253 жыл бұрын
Yeah, especially if you fly GA planes, the ground textures really show the transition between places, like when you travel between cities, you will totally feel the trip, the journey as the scenery changes. X-Plane can do this with OrthoXP, but it is nowhere close to MSFS level of graphics, especially the topography, texture quality, environmental effects, the cloud, the lighting, and building variety. For airliner sim though, MSFS is quite horrible with its bog down basic simulations, like it is still designed with 1980s passenger jets in mindset.

There is no competition, if fs fixed its alleged crap physics, xplane is out of the nonexistent competition. Xplane will never be able to have global sattelite data unless they work with google maps or something but laminar studio is so small the chance of that happening is minuscule. Asobo doesn't have to be scared, they brought more people to flight simming in 1 year than xplane did in 20. Only a matter of time til xplane dies out because high fidelity addons will be added to fs2020 as time goes on and people will have no more arguments to stick to xplane. Ultimately, msfs will be a bugless flightsim that's attractive to all simmers, hardcore or not with stunning graphics, global sattelite scenery with ai autogen and a good and advanced flightmodel. It'll be the perfect sim and this will be very hard to achieve for laminar

Pause at 7:44 and admire the strings of the exact same building pasted over and over again NYC. 15:00 small town looks very nice. 15:10 looks awful as you see where the billboard trees morph into the 3d trees in a bizarre band in front of you. Ambient sky lighting looks good, equal to MSFS. Surface water on the runways is beautiful. Clouds really need some kind of distance blend so the volumetric clouds don't just cut off abruptly at the draw limit. I'm sure some things will be polished before release, but X-Plane will still likely be the systems champ, not the scenery champ.

MSFS2020 = 1 year issues........ FS10 was 20 years issues. All the time looking for 2 fps more. And now that continues. Xplane11 + Vulkan + ortho4XP - ORBX is 100% smooth with the same hardware. And that even in VR / Reverb G2. Thank you XPlane team with very more less $ than Asobo....

100% smooth? What hardware and settings do you have? I have Ryzen 5900X + RTX 3090 + 64GB 3733 Mhz RAM - 20 FPS in busy airports like EDDF and 30-45 FPS rest, this is definitely not smooth, horrible experience with stuttering and double vision when looking to side window.

I appreciate the enthusiasm from LR, the effort for XP12 seems really promising. Besides the improvements, I like how XP12 will come as a continuation from XP11 which means we will keep flying our favorite 3rd party aircraft (Zibo I'm looking at you 😉). Also, to those who like to bitch about MSFS vs XP I would say follow Austin's example and embrace the competition. Both of those sims are wonderful and we are lucky that we have the choice.

After months with XP11, I am impressed with the realistic flight dynamics and add on cockpits. However, one of the biggest hazards to aviation is missing. Icing conditions are critical to flight safety and are totally absent. With the new 3D cloud and wind engines, realistic icing.. engine, wing, prop, pitot, windscreen with it's effect on drag and thrust is needed to bring a real world flight experience.

As an XP-11 holder since the Beta in 2016, I am so excited for this new evolution of XP-12! The most exciting new changes for me would have to be the rain effects & the airport environment. Really good job team. Can't wait for the release!
@alanlej3 жыл бұрын
The rain effect has already been a thing in XP-11 for a long time with Skiselkov's excellent yet limited Librain addon. What shocked me is they're advertising it as a "wow" new feature whereas anyone like me who actually worked with it and implemented it in addon planes (I'm the one behind the first rain effect implementation on the excellent Rotate MD-80 for example) will see that they extensively reused Librain or copied it down to all of its major limitations. Rain effect could be done way better in 2021 by the dev team itself than what Skiselkov, a modder, could come up with at the time. Bit of a shame really. There's nothing new to be hyped regarding this but they make it seems like it's a brand new feature lol. I'm not so fond of deceptive marketing...

First of all, I hope what we saw is not representative of the final product at all! To be clear, I did not expect LR to match the visuals of MFS2020, that is completely nonsense. However, the new version is coming after almost 6 years of the relaese of XP11, so one would expect a major upgrade after such a long time, unfortunately, it is not the case, this fits perfectly as just another minor (overdue) update to the current version. I heard Austin many times talking about the competition and how bad is the technology used in MFS2020 when you fly low, which makes me think he did not spend enough time trying it. Anyway, he insists that a flight simulator is about the realism of the flight dynamics, and I totally agree that MFS2020 flight model is a joke! But then you look at LR team and what they have been working on all this time and you wonder which of these features really support Austin's argument! I think many would agree that among the "not important" features, revamping visuals is what x-plane needed the most, but unfortunately they chose to invest their time and resources differently. IMHO, Austin needs to reconsider his business model and decison making process. I enjoy XP11 more than any other platform and I hoped after 6 years that XP12 would take that enjoyment to another level, I still hope so!

I agree. Austin doesn't care though. So we will just have to rely on add-ons. The usual business.

Honestly if both Laminar and Microsoft joined forces we'd have a perfect flight sim. Grab the flight model from xplane and the fancy scenery from msfs with detailed plane models and it would be great. I personally think msfs flight model is way too arcade like for a simulator. But I guess that's what happens when you try to cater to console game play. And I know a lot of people don't care too much about graphics but I do, why not? Like I hop into the games to fly around cool scenery and personally you don't get that much with x-plane without downloading a lot of add ons. I know this will never happen but its just a cool concept and I think it would benefit a lot of people. Including both Microsoft and Laminar research. Add in some DCS aircraft for some highly detailed military planes and it would be even better!
