At this moment in my learning proces, after a whole lot of studying, I use the step climb procedure to cruise level. First it was complicated with starting 13 degrees pitch after take off with max take off thrust, at 1000 ft ROC 500 fpm, reducing N1, the flaps settings, etc. etc. And the most interesting thing is that after retracting the flaps up at about 260 kts and commence the enroute climb above Fl 100 with 340 kts I can leave the throttle at a fixed setting and N1 will increase automatically. Now it's not complicated anymore. Flying the Boeing 747-400 is a very beautiful experience every time. Thumb up from The Netherlands.

The only drawback i've seen is the NAV display is Xplane default (cannot even read waypoints no matter zoom level) and there's still no dinging on the seat belt sign switch. How hard can it be to add that, lol.

I just joined a virtual airline on Sim-FTW that flies several 748s so I recently started to use the default 747 after having flown payware/payware level aircraft for the last couple years. I have to say, I was surprised with some of the detail that was included. The start-up procedure is a little weird but funny what things they did include, like working VNAV and autoland, but excluded something simple like EGT limiter. It can be nice to fly something easy/simple every once in a while and it is super easy to land/hand fly because of its size vs a 737 or smaller that can get blown all over the place landing with crosswinds.

When at the runway, you have to turn on CON before takeoff CON means continuous ignition
@FlightBrothersFT4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for pointing that out. You would turn these to continuous for takeoff and landing. With the igniters constantly firing, you reduce the possibility of a flameout during a critical phase of flight. You would also use it during heavy rain or turbulence.

I am also an A&P and I want to be able to access the instrument panels of the 747-400 from a maintenance point of view. I don't quite know how to be able to zoom or focus my monitors (I have 5) at the correct angle so as to properly view the instrument switch panels. I know that it is possible because I am watching this video. This video shows the instrument panels clearly. The video assumes that one knows how to set up the view of the instrument panels.

@FlightBrothersFT4 жыл бұрын
Actually it is rather simple. Taxi to the gate with engines running. Consider starting the APU while taxiing from the runway. Once at the stand, turn on the APU bleeds (for air conditioning) and have the APU on bus for power. At that point click the fuel cutoff switches located under the throttles. The engines will immediately power down. You can then connect ground power if you desire, and shut down the APU. When you are entirely done, shut off the ground power, turn off the battery, and disembark the aircraft.

You can certainly can and should compensate for the FMS deficiencies with less automation. We elected to show the automated method in this video since many viewers will want to see how that works. Interesting problem. Is the speed on the MCP set to a normal number for climb, and is the FMC programmed with a cruise altitude? Have you done a video on the autoland feature?
@FlightBrothersFT4 жыл бұрын
No we haven’t Jarrett. We tend to stay away from autolanding. The short story, generally, is as long as all available auto pilots are armed and the ILS is tuned and active on both nav rads, you’re good to go. You would likely get an autoland, or land 3 annunciation depending on airframe. We stay away from this for a few reasons. 1) it’s fun to land the plane. 2) the real world situations where you would perform an autoland are fairly infrequent. Best case, likely coastal and seasonal. 3) for realism, the aircraft, navaids and airport must be certified for cat 3 ops, which is when an autoland would be used. This is not always accurately portrayed in sims. Note: the airplane and ILS have different equipment requirements and tolerances they must meet for the certification. In my experience (Lee) in sim, almost every airplane can be flown to about 200ft which is usually a CAT 1 ILS decision height. This includes the default Cessna with the S-Tec 55 AP when configured properly. I know that’s long winded, but hopefully if you wanted to know how to autoland, I explained that! If not, fire back.

I think you are a missing radio frequency setups
@FlightBrothersFT4 жыл бұрын
I cannot remember if that is in there, but here is the information you need. COM radios are located on the center pedestal between the pilots. NAV radios are accessed by clicking the NAV/RAD button on the FMC. This takes you to a custom page displaying the current NAV radio settings. Hover your mouse cursor over the frequency on the FMC screen and you should get arrows for adjusting it.

How to calculate the Vspd
@FlightBrothersFT3 жыл бұрын
Watch the speed-tape on the MFD during takeoff and landing. You cannot access the speeds in the FMC, but it does seem to automatically make some calculations and indicate them on the speed-tape.

How did you set view points inside?
@FlightBrothersFT5 жыл бұрын
Move the camera where you want to look. Hold down CTRL and any number 0-9 on the number pad to save it. Simple tap that number to return to that view.

Dial it up on the RAD/NAV page on the FMC. Mouse over the freq and use the scroll wheel to set. After that, normal indications should be see once in range, LOC/APP mode on MCP should also work. Cheers!

Dennis Khan I believe Tim is working on a default FMS video. This will hopefully answer any questions you have when it’s done.
@FlightBrothersFT4 жыл бұрын
@Dennis Khan be sure to subscribe for notification. The default FMS video is in editing now. It is filmed using the 747, and should help you out. -Tim
You can make it up, skip it, or select a real world flight that matches.

This plane drops frame rates after awhile of flying.. I wish X Plane would give out a good plane that does not need updates and really give us a good plane from the start and not pay for planes that this sim should come with.. Most all of there planes have bugs.. I downloaded a newer 747 and it crashed my computer real garbage..
@FlightBrothersFT4 жыл бұрын
Hmmm, we have some complaints about the default, but they aren't the same you have. Honestly not sure what might be causing that. The only issues we have are the FMC being so questionable for VNAV functions.

This is the closest thing to a Zibo 744 at the moment. I have not played with it much yet to give an opinion. forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/67817-sparky-744-default-744-major-overhaul/

Did the brakes actually release? Check your key bindings, sometimes they are a toggle.
