I randomly fell down a rabbit hole of X4 videos, and this is the video that's getting me to try X4 again after nearly 5 years. The launch wasn't so hot. But it's looking great now. And sounds like 6.0 is right around the corner. Pretty exciting!

X4 is such a underrated game. Great game portrayal with the soundtrack.

mostly because so few are ready for spending the time to learn the in depth mechanics of how to live life in that game universe. I fear Bethesda might run into the same problem with Starfield. there is a large playerbase of people who have been trained to live a medieval fantasy life. the number of people in the mindset for living a futuristic space life are much much smaller. NMS has brought in quite a few because there isn't so much to learn to be able to live that life, X4 is a pretty daunting shock even to those who are interested.

I had X4 for a few years and kept giving up on it because I didn't have the time to learn it, I just bought the Avarice expansion the day it came out and have spent hours on KZbin figuring it all out. I now have a mini empire with around 20 ships and bought my first carrier last night, the game is phenomenal!

Very cool! Only suggestion, the transitions from quiet space to sudden full-on fight are a bit jarring. That aside, it's VERY cool seeing an X4 fan make something this well done!

Cmdr Go'Gen yeah, the learning curve is. a bit steep. But I feel It’s not that bad, you just learn things on the fly. Plus there’s a lot of people on Discord and Reddit willing to help and answer questions. I still discover new things after playing it for a year. Like I just learned you can press shift and box select units like a RTS game on map last week :)...mind blowing

Split ships are so beautiful 😁 but two weekly shielded... That is why I use the serenity vanguard mod ship escorted by a handful modded battleships... I considered them like Mark 2 ships plus a modded chimera with lot more shielding.. about a hundred of them plus a couple dozen drones✌️😁 and you have a pretty powerful fleet!

Cool video. Such an awesome game on so many levels, yet so frustrating too. Fleets, at least capital ship fleets, don't actually work at all, when you are in sector - unless you control them all manually. Out of sector it works fine. Tried yet again yesterday, when I brought a Raptor along as a wingman for my Asgard. Raptor had a 5-star pilot, but he either got in the way of my main guns, almost got himself killed suiciding against stations, hung back way too far so I didn't get the anti-fighter support I needed, or refused to move through a sector with asteroids. The combat is certainly much more involved than it was in the previous X games (not sure about Rebirth, I never liked it), but it's still the management aspects that drag me in and keep me playing. Still, the game is 10x better now than it was at release, so I commend Egosoft for that.

I hope you're still giving it a shot. IME, you shouldn't make the Raptor a wingman unless it has a partner Raptor/Carrier. The Raptor should be it's own fleet. When it has S/M subordinates, it will fly away from its target when you give it an attack command. This can cause it to keep out of range of other capitals where you want air-support. Intercept subs have a certain range they're limited to. Attack subs just attack the carrier's target. You can also just park the carrier right behind the Asgard, or other capital with intercept subs. Or you can put the carrier's subs into sub-fleets and quickly reassign to your Asgard on intercept as needed. Once done, remove their assignment and put them back under the Raptor.

It doesn't seem like much strategy is involved in the fleet combat. It's just point at them and shoot and who shoots the most in the least time wins. They need to put effort into the combat systems like the trading and building system. Make it engaging. Tactics and strategies should matter.

Deus Ex Machina yes, all of them are vanilla weapons. 3.0 introduced so many faction specific front weapons for S and M ships. Each faction has at least one faction specific weapon for M ships and even more for S ships. Also we get a new M turrets called flak turret with really fancy projectile and it’s very good against fast moving target. They also reworked the effect for exiting weapons like you see in the video. Much cooler destroyer main weapon (diff for each faction) and much cooler plasma cannon (also different between split and non-split both for graphics and stats)

it is legit, you just need to do a late stage quest to unit two factions into one (be care with the choices you made, this is not guaranteed). Then you just declare war on them. Have fun! Expect they send many waves of capital ships to you, each waves with 5-20 capital ships... BTW This game is pretty slow paced, I was 350 hours into the game when I made video. So you might need to grind a lot to play such large scale battle.
