Yes! I love compact rigs. It's a fun challenge to cram as much tone as you can into such a small space. But these days it's possible and in my opinion, preferred! Looks great dude.

I wouldn't say this is the "best sounding" rig you've put together. But this is rock solid. The tones are flexible. And you can fit this board anywhere. Id take this as a WIN and run with it. I really do enjoy pedal platform content too!!!

Any pros and cons between having a dedicated noise gate pedal right after your tuner before the overdrive, distortion etc.... and having it integrated into your distortion pedal after the boost like in this video?

Loved this video because it’s so informative of your process and reasoning behind your choices while at the same time I kinda hate your tone here haha. Not in a bad way, to be clear. But it’s really way off from what I’d chase even in a high gain setting. But isn’t that the point of having your own sound? So that’s why I love videos like this. Regardless of my taste, seeing the thought process behind other’s sound is always great. I really love your videos, man. The vibes are spot on and I’m sure you’ll be a top tier guitar KZbinr not so far in the future, maybe with your own products if you so choose.

I love compact rigs! Something I have gotten into over the last 2 years whether playing clean R&B stuff or flat-out metal is using a compressor during lead passages. REALLY tightens the tone up and makes lead passages hit incredibly hard. A trick Tosin Abasi and Andy Wood use for their lead playing.

Yo Ray! Sick videos man. What string gauges are you using for the strat in drop B? Ever have trouble intonating 6-string floyds with thicker strings? I use a similar guitar in A# standard and it gave me trouble with anything over 56 so that's what I stick with is a 56-13.

I find it interesting that you chose this over the helix. Is it for the simplicity of it all or does this set up just sound more natural?

Enjoyed the tones I got. What do you think the total cost of that compact rig is?
@jeffhirshberg5171 Жыл бұрын
I'm thinking of doing this for a live setting, but instead of running through the board/PA, I would like to use the Fryette PS 100 and a 4x12 cab -- with a Eros boost, high gain preamp pedal, tuner pedal, and noise gate. (I) Would you say this is a viable option? (II) Would you run the preamp pedal and/or gate through the effects loop or in front of the head? And (III) would you put an EQ pedal in the mix (e.g., MXR M108S) and if so, through the effects loop or in front? Sorry for so many questions. It's just I'm new to this sort of approach and I trust your opinion. Really appreciate the information you offer up.

When I bought a Solar, my friend got in on the order and picked up a CHUG they were offering free shipping at the time. He was happy with the amp he was using and gave it to me. I haven’t used a distortion pedal in years but I’ve owned over 10 different pedals from the 90’s to the 2010’s. It’s the best one I’ve played. Hands down. It’s worth $199. If you play using distortion pedals you wouldn’t be dissatisfied.

If you're plugging straight into the PA how do you deal with A) Venues with shitty PA's and B) Venues where the speakers are overhead and people in the first few rows can't hear much except acoustic drums because all the guitars/bass are coming out of the speakers above them? I use a quad cortex but I always like to have an FRFR cab onstage to avoid the above issues.
