Hey, the industry is going this way, then yall say Sony won't do the same as MS. Obviously, nintendo is nowhere near changing...so is the industry changing, or is it just MS?? If MS becomes less of a threat, that would free up Sony and nintendo to let their guard down. So I ask again, is the industry changing, or is MS trying to change the industry because they can't win traditionally. I was there day one with xbox, and the xbox has always been the black sheep of the industry. So this is probably the only way for them.

Hey chaps great XB2+1! Interesting topics covered. I felt the same as Luke regarding Xbox exclusivity as I didn’t agree with/understand the approach. My main concern was about platform success with interaction with the Xbox ecosystem. But as time has gone on I’ve realised the industry is going this way and Sony is copying Xbox every step just at a much slower pace. Overall if I get Xbox games with more QTY and QA by sharing with PS gamers but I get game pass then idm 🤷‍♂️

Jez you’re a steam fanboy but your arguments make no sense. Steam made $8.56B revenue in 2023. Nintendo made $15B in the same year. Almost double. Steam base sells select titles at high volume but not every title. Many games that come out day and date sell more on ps than steam. The point rand was making is that asus and steam haven’t been able to move hardware at all compared to Nintendo.

I am sorry... But Xbox has never told anyone there WAS a red line. That was all of us! We have all made the Halo, Gears, and Forza being the line Xbox should and wouldn't ever go anywhere but on PC and Xbox. Agaian guys, Phil telling us "there is no red line" is not him telling us that they have gotten rid of some imaginary line... but more so, that there has never been one! Don't trip out on Phil for keeping it real with us!

When I was in high school if you didn’t have a 360 you were clowned on. Maybe they didn’t win in Europe but they definitely dominated in the US. The worst generation to lose rhetoric has to do with digital game library. It’s a tall ask to have anyone abandon that for another platform. Doesn’t matter how much it goes down hill. They will always think about the thousands they’ve sunk into the platform.

@@tripprowe1695PS3 sold a couple million more consoles by the end. But software sales(games) were sold way more on the 360 consoles, which is where the major money comes from. Just look at reviews on Metacritic for games that released during the 360/PS3 generation. It’s like 80-100 reviews on the 360 and 20-30 on the PS3, which is the complete opposite to this generation. In the western world, United States, England, Australia, Canada etc Xbox 360 was king and they’re the biggest markets for gaming.

I find it puzzling how some individuals have such strong attachments to specific hardware or express negativity toward others enjoying their favorite games. Approaching 30, I often feel a sense of disconnect with these perspectives, as if I were born in the wrong generation. I just don't think Play Anywhere is the future of gaming, at least not in the West. Handheld gaming is degenerate. When you have your games with you in your pocket and it doesn't matter what platform they're on, guess what, you've just recreated mobile gaming, and that's exactly what the industry will converge upon. The industry will be the healthiest when there are separate consoles with their own ecosystems and a player base that has dedicated screens and play areas at home.
