I am from the uk and I must say the marketing for game pass is none exsiting I have never seen a advert on TV promoting game pass and all the games you get with it it is a bit weird why they don't as they are definitely missing a trick on that for the casual gamer for sure

People keep forgetting that both gears 4 AND gears 5 didn’t get a date when they were announced. Both of those games ended up launching the following year. So I don’t think it’s a sure thing to say Gears E-Day is 2026 and they’re “not confident in 2025” when the past has shown it’s VERY feasible

I enjoyed the MVC2 collection discussion from both of you and I like Jez’s idea of getting the game preservation team at Xbox to help out. It feels like there are now enough games that have missed Xbox because of the MT Framework pipeline that it’s an issue that needs fixed. I’m sure a GP deal would help persuade Capcom for some of the older games that have skipped. And the MVC Collection still doesn’t have a date. So I hope all this noise gets something started to address this problem and hopefully get the MVC Collection to make its way to Xbox. Probably just hopium but I’ve got to have hope

2:50:09 My theory with ABK back catalog is that A) They’re prepping PC ports and whatnot and B) They’re saving game pass drops for when they have slow times. I think they want to avoid going months without an exciting talking point. This fall and winter is stacked, and they’re putting a lot of emphasis on Blops 6. 2025 has a lot going on as well. I think it’s strategic.

You can play all those MVC games right on an Xbox through emulation. Dont know how many people are aware of that. It's one of the best features.

Xbox isn't putting platforms on games beyond 2026 because they may be either next gen launch titles or have the chance to be delayed to next gen by the time they come out and can't guarantee if they will be on X/S yet...so I don't think case by case applies to Gears or Perfect Dark (or State of Decay at least at launch)...Blade I could see going multi plat bc it's licensed but also seems like it may be a long way out In a perfect world, Xbox could use next gen to emphasize building the console base / taking some MAU share from Sony with some exclusive offerings using next gen as the barrier why it doesn't go to other platforms (if they even need to give an excuse why)

I think Starfield has proven that theyre willing to give new IP's chance to be an exclusive even if its timed. Every game will be judges differently, only one of the previous 4 that were ported was successful do it doesnt make sense to judge a games exclusivity before assessing player reactions and retention rate

I got to be honest I'm pretty over the exclusivity talk, who seriously cares who gets to play a video game or not? All I care about is that xbox is committed to hardware and we continue to get day one game pass. So long as that keeps happening I'll stay on xbox.

IF the series S and Xbox release parody is the reason for game delays, and IF predictions are right and the Xbox handheld is going to be based on the series S. Then hopefully next gen Xbox will drop the parody clause so that the handheld doesn't hold back the main console when it comes to 3rd party releases

All you have to do is read their response without letting it trigger an emotional response. But Jez is incapable of doing that. Even Gears, Fable and Perfect Dark will all go to Playstation eventually, Microsoft doesn't care about exclusivity

You can't stop an exclusivity agreement. That's not on Xbox, quit blaming the victim please. If it's optimization they can EASILY reach out to Xbox. Same beef I have for Capcom, why is it always blame Xbox? I'm sure Xbox has done more than enough to prove themselves. Money can fix stuff but you gotta ask and work together. Lastly the people don't know Xbox Game Pass exists thing is... Anecdotal at best. People know but aren't enticed more so. CoD will change that for sure. Now they do need to do more than that, and they will because now it's becoming more mainstream. It's more to do with efficiently spending money marketing wise. It's why Nintendo didn't market Wii U much. The return on investment wasn't there. Xbox likewise is now at a milestone for subs that it is wise to do so. Getting someone from Netflix, SAYS A LOT. Now regarding Tango, I've been saying the whole time since we learned the closure. Zenimax has a certain budget, as will Activision, Blizzard and King. Zenimax for sure preferred to double down especially with Fallout TV success. I do think Matt and Phil would have preferred to save Tango, be it independent or re-allocating however as Phil said 'Sustainable Business'. Tango wasn't sustainable. They were looking to hire people, last I checked their website. They needed to be ramped up. They did lose senior people, even before Shinji left (Everyone's fav Ikumi). Now if they had a Japanese publisher under the Division, Tango would have just been shifted there since they could work on profitable stuff while doing experimental things, which makes them sustainable.
