Azahar is making all the right moves in my book. Requiring games to be already decrypted makes it behave the same as any other retro emulator (N64, GC, PSX...) and puts a hole into the "bypassing TPM" legal argument.

Mandatory DRM and TPM should be illegal. It's just a way for corporations to bypass pesky laws which grant people rights, like fair use, and thus unjustly take power away from the people. Also, copyrights should expire after 14 years again, like they have for most of history.

Thanks for this comment, I didn't exactly understand what it meant, thought it would make Azahar obsolete but it only makes it a bit harder to use and that's it. As long as it keeps the emulator alive, working, updated and away from Nintendo's DMCAs.

Those Palworld changes are so technical they're definitely an attempt to work around any potential claim the patents may give Ninty, while also perfectly highlighting to the courts how ridiculous it is to issue patents for game mechanics at all by making such a minor, technical change. It'll be interesting to see if Ninty tries to file further patents in response!

Ninty can only win "inside" of Japan on this one... not outside. It is specific and targeted and they are clearly going for precedence here which will obviously feed into further lawsuits if achieved. Games, and I am not talking video, are being played here.

the 3 mechanics used in palworld claimed patent infringment are the same ones used in craftopia (released in Sep 4th 2020) 109 days before nintendo filed that parent patent. And Japan's law only lets you filed a patent in 1 year. And Prior Art means you can't Copyright, trademark or patent anything that was done before even if it wasn't copyrighted, trademarked or patented at that time. So Palworld is save espeually from the first to file princeple.

CCI and 3DS file extensions are the same. When you use batch decrypter, you are left with a CCI file. Just rename to 3DS and you're all good.

I'm not worried about Azahar dropping encrypted game support, honestly the more reasonable the emulator is the more likely people will switch to it and perhaps even do more with it if it's being actively developed rather than clinging to the old stuff. I mean it's not going to kill off all the other 3DS emulators but it's cool to see some advancement. Calling it now for the game awards: Nindo showing the Switch 2 on the game awards and Gabe announcing Valve learning to count to 3 because they're also releasing a new Modern Steam machine and need a day one pack in. Cosmic looks like iOS to me, not a huge fan of iOS so I'll stick with KDE for now.

That .3DS to .CCI thing is kinda silly. I dumped my own cartridges and they came out as .3DS files. Eshop games as .CIA of course. I don't think I've heard of .CCI, but if it's just the same format with a different extension, renaming is no big deal lol.

1:52 another Japanese company updated their game when they had their patent lawsuit against Nintendo a few years back, but the court clearly didn't care. They were looking at the game before the update, ruled in favor of Nintendo, and that company had to play Nintendo lots of money.

Here's my suggestion to the fans: Make a movie and title it "Half-Life 3", and then make three more movie sequels that last 5 hours so this way valve would make a movie to video game adaptation of the fan's movie work. I mean, if Black Christmas ended up getting two unofficial fan sequels to the late Bob Clark's first directorial debut "Black Christmas", then I'm sure many fans can make their own movie version of "Half-Life 3". Either that or make your own unofficial video game version of "Half-Life 3" if people are that desperate for a third game of Half-Life, much like F.E.A.R. and Second Life.
