Microsoft has not released Minecraft on Steam while it is released for Sony and Nintendo. Steam prevents Windows from becoming a walled garden, Steam supports Linux - Valve is a direct competitor of Microsoft.

I have a great deal of respect for Phil Spencer and the Xbox brand right now. They’re still willing to experiment with different ideas for their games. Nobody would’ve ever thought that Doom guy would dual wield a super shotgun and chainsaw shield, not to mention piloting a mech and mounting a dragon too. Meanwhile, Sony is still contempt with pushing the same overly cinematic movie like games with the same template over and over again. Sony used to be weird with PlayStation, a video game I’ve been playing recently would have gotten so much backlash if it was released today. It’s called Forbidden Siren or Siren as it’s titled in the west, it basically does what Until Dawn tried to accomplish. Multiple protagonists with their own skills that suits them, the difference is that it’s a survival horror game meaning it has more gameplay than Until Dawn. What makes it challenging is that the player can die from only a couple of hits and the enemies have hyper intelligence AI. The puzzles don’t make sense which adds another challenge and to add insult to injury, if you die then you have to restart the whole level all over again. Or just let them die and move on to the next character. There is a silver lining though, the digital version which was released a couple a weeks ago has one new feature which is manual saving (it still had chapter saving). So now you don’t have to worry about starting the level over and over again just to keep your character alive. TLDR make PlayStation weird again and have them experiment more.

As long as game pass stays solid im happy, it's one of the only subscriptions that is genuinely worth it, and I'm glad they are intelligent enough to know that you make more money if you make your product available to more people. This isn't even mentioning the fact that providing the experience to pc gamers reduces the amount of piracy that could take place because most people would rather just buy the game and install it than wasting hours of their lives finding a cracked version.

Also pricks like you who feel the need to tell other people how to experience things are the actual issue plaguing gaming. What if someone spend the money not to like it, with game pass you can test the game and purchase it after if you find it to be worth the cost. What about the fact that most people don't have the money to buy every game they want that releases, oh wait with game pass you can pay $20 bucks a month to have access to their entire library. In other words people like you are a much bigger issue than anyone who is just trying to cheaply experience a game. Also game rentals have existed for a long time, the only difference now is you can rent the entire library for what you could have rented 2 games for back in the day.

The way they are thinking is that if there is a potential million customers then they should require those customers to buy their hardware as well in order to play the game. The realiity is that out of that million most arent going to buy additional hardware in order to play 1 or 2 games each person might be interested in out of the ones that are kept exclusive. So youll see maybe a thousand sales of hardware with a couple of game sales to them, this is the argument, exclusivity makes them money by selling hardware and the more money they make the better game development will prosper. The reality is that you would make more money from a million ppl buying 1-4 of your games than a thousand doing the same and having to buy the hardware with it.

Put it this way also. My main platform is PC. Even if I were to buy a PlayStation, it wouldn't be for any online game, so why would I subscribe to PSN? And if it is for a few games, why would I buy a new PS5? I'll go buy a second hand one. And if it is for a few select games, that doesn't help Sony in the slightest. If there was an official way to play my switch library on a Steam Deck, I'd buy one in a heartbeat. I guess using Yuzu or Ryujinx is the closest thing. At least that way, I can dump and store all my games to my PC in case if anything bad happens to my switch.

@@Nando75549I’ve heard the Steam Deck is a great way to play your Switch games-currently with emulation, of course- and the battery even lasts longer when you do, especially if sticking to equivalent frame rate and resolution, and still lasts plenty long if you scale the resolution up and go for a higher frame rate. An official, first party way to play Nintendo games on Steam Deck or PC would be great for many people, and it wouldn’t even be detrimental to Nintendo financially. They make their money from first party game sales and licensing, not from console sales. Obviously they make money from console sales _too,_ but the profits are certainly in the games and licensing, especially considering the lack of genuinely good discounts on first party digital. They’d have a player base who is beholden to eShop pricing, because they can’t buy physical secondhand games, for one, and for two, most people who would want to play Switch games on their PC or Steam Deck either already own a Switch, or don’t want one in the first place. That said, the main reasons I think Nintendo wouldn’t do this are firstly, because when you think of Nintendo games, they want you to think of the console and the ecosystem. They want the prospective buyers of their games to see those games running as intended, on Nintendo hardware. I think they’d think that their games on another company’s hardware gives a less polished and complete look overall, despite the fact that they could make their games look or feel better when utilizing the extra power of better hardware, and all of this combined might give a Nintendo gamer the impression that Nintendo doesn’t care enough about their own consoles. And secondly, I think they’d be too concerned about the implications of their official PC/Steam Deck solution being broken open and used to play pirated copies, a la Virtual Console title injection on the 2/3DS family. There are other concerns I can see Nintendo mentioning, but in my opinion, these are the two biggest.

It's speculated based on factual evidence. Phil Spencer said that all Xbox IP is eligible for being ported to other platforms. Not that all IP "WILL" be ported, but that there's no IP that's so sacred it won't ever go to any other platform. So in essence, Xbox is 3rd party. They didn't exactly say that, like they didn't outright confirm an Xbox Handheld, Phil just said they're looking into that market as well, but that's the Internet for you. Phil could say "I had a conversation with Nintendo" and the Internet will say "All Xbox Games confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2"

It's a common problem going back 4-5 years with Google search topics. Maybe it's been fixed this year, I wouldn't know. How much games are costing. Even SONY investors are going demand the same. Since they see how much XBOX MAU is very high. And I go as for as say the same with NINTENDO investor. They want more people to be part of it. And the idea of one box can get the game days are over. And if I design the next XBOX. I going to make it run like a computer. I played Breath of the Wild emulated even tho I have a Switch because that way I could play it at 4K 60 fps (I refused to play the game at 720p 30 fps). And it was beautiful. Imagine if I could have done that oficially giving my money to Nintendo.

I have a PC Xbox series S and PS5 and this is a brilliant move by Microsoft they know which way the tide is turning. The console war ended decades ago and was kept alive just for nostalgia sake and little else. Consoles are just medium range budget pre built PCs these days. Sony internally (Not just the gaming division)isn't doing too hot. They PC players won't double dip. So they are slowly but surely coming to the same realization as Microsoft did.Granted the PSN BS but something tells me they're gonna eat humble pie like Microsoft did with Windows Live.
