Xbox One - Fastest Internet Speed Test Wired vs WIFI

This video is a give a speed test comparison between wired ethernet and WIFI connections on an Xbox One.
By connecting your Xbox One with the fastest connection you will be able remove lag from online gaming & buffering when streaming video.
Test Results were 42Mbps download over WIFI and 71Mbps with a wired ethernet cable. I also have my router right next to my Xbox so if the router was further away it's likely that the WIFI speed would have been slower.

For those that don't want to wait forever... the answer is 40mb v 70mb down. Half that with a reasonable ping will still be plenty viable for most any multiplayer game. So you're fine on a stable wifi connection.

With Verizon Fios, my download speed was about 940mbps. With Comcast, I'm at 200mbps. Even though both are "gig" speed.

I bought a Cat. 7 ethernet cable for my xbox one s. Hopefully that will increase my download speed. I haven't received it in the mail yet. Watching your video gives me confidence that my internet connection will be boosted with an ethernet cable.

You also have to take into account your internet connection type I have a 1 GB fiber connection my connection is always going to be fast on my Xbox with the wired connection because the wireless doesn't support the speed

Smart Aerials with nbn fixed wireless my speed is 25 download and 4 upload the internet down under is a disaster I used to 50 and 20 until our provider bottlenecked our connection because of the Netflix effect on fixed wireless my mobile data is even better than the nbn.

I have internet via a dish with a point to point connection. The company only operates in Eastbourne and I have it because I install their systems. You might find that there are companies in your area offering a similar thing.

Its the category of ethernet cable you are using, they make more for better internet connections so they transfer data faster.

No a specific Ethernet cable is not needed. I would check your existing one to make sure that it is a fully wired and not a cross over type. Simplest thing to do would be to just try a new Ethernet cable.

My download is 90MB, upload 20MB, on Xbox test results i always get 123ms, on any other dpeed test app i get around 6-7ms, so this isnt the right way of doing test i believe.

The best way to test your broadband speed is to log into your internet router and check the connection speed there.

I bought a cat7 Ethernet cable to stabilize my connection but I’m only getting 5mbs download. With WiFi I’m getting anywhere between 30-500mbs. I don’t know whats wrong

Might have a faulty port on your router/ Xbox. Try one of the other Ethernet ports on your router.

Could be a few reasons. You may want to switch the wireless off on your router when you're running the test to make sure that it is switching to Ethernet. What speed results are you getting?

Could be that the broadband connection speed is the limiting factor. Ethernet can operate at up to 1Gbps depending on interface. This will always be the same on a switch. WiFi speeds change depending upon the standard being used 802.11 ac can be over a gig but this is not a dedicated connection. It is shared with all on the WiFi. The more devices on the network and the more networks, SSIDs the more noise then this and the walls the WiFi transmits through this can affect the speed you achieve. But if broadband is 10Mbps you will never get more than that on wired or wireless.

You unplug the thernet cable from the router and plug it directly into your console. if you have an extra ethernet cable, plug it into the router and then into your xbox
