They’ve updated these controllers but they still continue to have issues for me. These controllers are the biggest waste of money. Can’t even get them sent in to be serviced since they’re no longer under warranty. Now you can’t get anything other than these cheap shits

I just got a SX a couple weeks ago and the controller is a horrible, cheap piece of junk. I can't believe this is what Microsoft are shipping for players to experience their next gen console. All the face buttons rattle noisily like they're the wrong size and feel inconsistent to press, the d-pad is even louder and seems to use some awful micro-switches for no good reason. Even the power button isn't firm and is completely inconsistent when trying to open the console menu. It's insane that this POS is what they delivered.

after 8 months of use, my right stick is already starting to swim. I will add that I have never thrown the controller. The buttons are pretty loud. The controller itself is big and heavy and the PS4 controller is better in every aspect.

I've had a few similar issues as well. In the last few weeks at times it will randomnly disconnect and then re-connect mid playing through the game. This is on a Series X console. The main issue I've had though is that it does not work with live chat with my Hyper X headset. I read online and quite a few people have had the same issue as I had despite the headset working perfectly on the xbox one controllers. The textured grip also is not great when you have long gaming sessions and when your hands get a bit clammy and rub up and down on the textured surface.

I have had four of these controllers develope stick drift in a short period of time. All were brand new. They are absolutely garbage. My original Xbox Duke and my PS2 controllers still work perfectly after 20 years. I refuse to line the pockets of Microsoft anymore.

The D pad on the Xbox Series X/S controller is loud, it’s a good D pad, but it’s noise and annoying. The reason why the Xbox Series X/S controllers shut down after 7 to 10 minutes is to save battery life, it’s standby mode. Both the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 DualSense controllers does that.

I have just gotten back into console gaming after years. I got a series x in may of last year. I have broken 2 series X stock controllers in less than 10 month. I’m not a big guy but I have very strong hands, so this could be me, but honestly a controller that breaks because you grip it hard is garbage to me. Like I said, I’m not a big guy. My hands are strong for my size, and I’m a casual athlete who exercises for basic health and fitness. A body builder type gaming with this controller would go through a couple a month, in my experience. I could’ve just received lemons, but I’m shocked by how poor this controller is. It feels good to play when it works, but it barely lasts. The build quality is cheap from day 1, and after a few weeks of play it begins to creek and slowly fall apart. The drift issue becomes unbearable.

It turns off to save battery life. I was always having to manually turn off my xb1 controller to save battery take a feed or take a shit 🤔

The d-pad is a preference thing. I love clicky tactile buttons, and it makes it easier to know if you actually hit the button or not. I don't play fighting games though so I can't comment on that. Everything about the controller is a straight upgrade, except the d-pad which is neither better or worse, it's just different.

I wonder how many people out of them 2k are having issues like that with the Series X console ? Maybe the issue is new pads on older consoles. Which is still odd as it is all meant to be compatible. I can only use Elite pads now as normal pads just feel horrible so no idea if the pad that came with my series X does that :/

I haven't experienced any stick drift with the official controllers. However, the sticks themselves have become loose over time, making them less accurate. I much prefer the powers Fusion Pro 2 for only a little more money. It's more reliable and more comfortable IMO

d-pad is a masterpiece for platformers and I had no issue with mortal kombat, the reason why its loud is because it has like metal ovals wich make a switch to do contact instead of rubber pads (which are worse) and that technology had it the dsi xl and is considered as one of the best d-pads to ever existed, maybe the one in the controller is a little loud but its nothing more than precission in every single direction you make

I find it much more difficult to perform the quarter circle movements in fighting games with it. I also find it more uncomfortable with its sharp edge. I strongly dislike it but that’s just like, my opinion man 🙂

@@OregonPacifist yes it jurt after a while but, I reccomend you play celeste and compare your controller different d-pads to be able to appreciate the precision, also some controllers when moving fast from left to right on the dpad they register movement up or down which is something that occurs on many controllers even 8bitdo or switch pro controller, but with the series x controller never happens and is definitely better for fighting combos on mortal kombat, I don't play street fighter or fighting games when you need to do circular motion, in that case it's better to use a mushy d-pad but on everything else I prefer the one on the xbox

It’s the analog sticks for me and my friends. I put the controller that came with my series s away for a rainy day and when I finally busted it out the right analog stick lasted less than a week before the click function broke. Same thing happened with 2 controllers my buddy had. One was less than a month old and came with his series x and the other one was secondary purchase and only lasted 3 months. The only thing improved about these controllers is MS bottom line. This, while sony actually improved and innovated on their controllers. MS seems like they’re more focused on gamepass subscriptions than a killer gaming experience. Just look at halo… it certainly wasn’t designed to sell systems anymore.

I was impressed with the build quality of the Xbox 360 controllers. The regular Xbox One controllers were also great if it weren’t for the cheap shoulder buttons. The newest Xbox controller design is just the worst IMO.

Use my xbox series controller on my xbox one x and I haven't had any issues at all. And the controller is backwards compatible with previous consoles. As far as being a bad controller. It really isn't that bad and have no disconnect issues. All around its great controller.

Sorry to hear that but like you said, it does work perfectly on my Series X !! They're not a crap controller at-all, they obviously just have a slight bug in the firmware, they possibly thought that people would be bringing their old controllers forward more than people buying the latest controllers for the older consoles and didn't bother testing them too much, but I can't see that being true !! Whatever the reason, the actual controller itself is not crap.....In my opinion, it's the best one they've made, the only thing I'm not totally happy with is, what you pointed out.....How loud the D-Pad clicks (I think everyone feels the same) but I usually play with headphones on so it doesn't bother me as I can't hear it !! Anyway, it's like you said as well, It just sounds like they need to update the Firmware so they work better on the last gen consoles.....Hope they release something for you soon !! Personally, I would get back on the phone and wouldn't get off until they either sort-out a refund or swap it for an Original Xbox One Controller for you !! It just strikes me as odd that this would be an issue for so many people. Like, did Microsoft test this at all with the older consoles? Mine was having problems immediately (with both controllers). I'm glad to know that this issue doesn't happen with everyone, and figured that to be the case. The controller itself is good (minus the D pad as I'm not a fan) so hopefully they can fix it someday!

The battery warning is part of your Xbox notifications setting. If notifications are turned off, you won’t be warned about the low battery (I found this out on my own)!

I bought 3 Xbox Series X controllers for a total of $180. All of them are drifting now, Making gaming completely unplayable. I can't even access the menu's properly because it just darts straight up the screen. This is sick, This is disgusting, & I wouldn't even wish this drift curse on my worst enemy. I’ve had my Series X for about a week and I only had it desync once. I had to resync it to get it to work. While I like the controller I’m still using my Elite Series 1 on my new XSX. I use the Elite Series 2 on PC. Now the Elite Series 2 can be hot garbage. My newest one is great, but I had to have it replaced 3 times before it would stop desyncing.... while PLUGGED in. :/

Shitty hardware, it keeps disconnecting, even with the firmware update. I prefer use my old wired 360 controller for Windows, but unfortunately it's not compatible with XSS, I need to buy an adapter like Brook Wingman for $45.
