OK...so I tried it out on my LG B7 OLED and it actually worked! It fixed an issue I was having where the screen appeared as if it was having some interlacing issues. Basically, the image around certain parts would look like every other line wasn't being drawn properly. I set the SX to both 4:2:2 and 12 bit color (previously 4:2:2 was disabled and the bit color was set to 10 bit) and everything now looks great. Thanks a lot for this video, it really helped a bunch.

Aren't we supposed to set bit depth to 8 bit? What was your problem exactly? Colorbanding? I use also the B7 with 8bit and 422 disabled don't have those interlacing issues. As recommended before. But sometimes I think there is color banding... At least I would expect more from HDR xD

Short and sweet indeed! V is for Vincent and "visual" guru. The Murideo's calculator is more comprehensive than their previous HDMI bandwidth chart. I wish you would have commented what was the optimal setting for the CX in that case. To all who complained about Vincent never pointing out the negatives of OLED, piss off. He's always mention "flashing" artifacts with near black gamma, vertical stripping and uniformity issues with moving near black full screens, automatic brightness limiting, HDR peak brightness at 10% windows only. In almost every single review! I bought a C9 last year fully aware of all these shortcomings thanks to Vincent. Imperfect and all, OLED is still the best performer for dark room viewing. True blacks, vibrant colors, wide viewing angles.

I've been scratching my head over this for months now. I have the Xbox One X + LGC9. I want to know if I should check or uncheck 422 when I'm playing games. I want the less input lag possible. I've tried both and I can't see any difference
@dangr39573 жыл бұрын
If you want less input lag, use a wired game pad, and use a lan cable instead of WiFi. Some people recommend to set the Xbox to RGB pc mode and downgrade the resolution to 1080p. Ycc422/12bit has nothing to do with latency, it’s helps to view the games with better details. The resolution is the key factor which could create few ms delays. The Xbox One X definitely has delays in 4K. I am not sure about Series X as I have an Series S. If you don’t like 1080p on a 4K screen I recommend you to get a hdmi2.0a hdr scaller edid rekorder with hdcp2.2 support for better upscaling or/and buy an old 1080p panda plasma with low response times for gaming.

What about for the Samsung Q90R, which has a hdmi 2.0+ port (port 4) at 24Gbps? Should 4:2:2 be enabled here?
@ganove843 жыл бұрын
No it shouldn’t Even 4K60hz 12 bit 422 is only 17.82 GB. But besides that. If you want the best gaming!!! Experience you should always uncheck ycc 422 be it sdr or hdr. There are only 2 reasons to check this options while gaming: 1. You want better color gradients in trade off sacrificing other parameters 2. The very very rase case when you get issues outputting a 4k60 444 signal on your device. That’s basicly it. Keep in mind I talk about gaming only! IMHO you should never check ycc 422 as Long as you don’t have issues with your rendering device

A lot of people including myself have had the random black screen especially on boot up. Its basiscally intermitent and goes away for some and for some it only happans watching bluray or streaming movies but for me it sometimes happens in the game. Now theres videos that say turning off YCC 4:2:2 and raising your high fidelity setting to 30 bit solves the problem. For now it seems to work, how ever i believe its not related to those settings and may be linked to Microsofts update. I basically leave mine turned off, however when its turn on it does no matter if you are in a game or whatever it pops up a black screen with the message about an update. I believe the update settings is bugged when its turned off. Why do i think this? Because everytime my Series X acted up with the random intermitent black screen i have gone into the update settings to check for an update and every time there was an update ready. After updating the black screen issue seems to disapear for awhile until the next update. I am not saying this is the true reason but it seems to be linked to it somehow.

But this is very rare. Keep in mind : Vincent said in his video the benefit of ycc 422 checked is better color gradient in movies!! because it lower subchroma and increases color depth. Gaming is total different story!

But isn’t it the case that even when connected to a hdmi 2.1 tv the Xbox series X will revert back to the hdmi 2.0 Tmds method when outputting anything other than 4K 120? For example when watching a blu ray on the series x it doesn’t matter if the tv supports 2.1 it won’t use the bandwidth available anyway as it only uses FRL for a 4K 120 output.

when I enable 4:2:2 chroma, 4K HDR content plays in 8 bit 4:2:2 instead of 12 bit. SDR works great, playing in 4:4:4 and 12 bit, but that’s because I’ve set the Xbox to HD 1080p. Is this strange? When I disable 4:2:2, I’m able to get 4:2:0 at 10 bit HDR 4K Edit: this is a series s by the way, but I figure that shouldn’t make a difference?

If I have the Xbox on the HDMI 2.1 (HDMI 4) port and the ps5 on a standard 4K dolby port (HDMI 2), will I lose graphical quality on the ps5 not having the HDMI 2.1, or just the 120fps options?

If your TV/Monitor doesnt support 12-Bit it is not usefull. For HDMI 2.0 with YCC 4:4:4 and 4:2:2 + 8-Bit or 10-Bit I would go with this: If you play a game with HDR (better native HDR and not the "Auto-HDR") I would choose 10-Bit with YCC 4:2:2 (14,85 Gbit/s), but if you play a game without HDR like Fortnite (on the Xbox Series X/S) I would choose 8-Bit with YCC 4:4:4 (17,82 Gbit/s). Why? Because you cannot see much difference, except HDR is on and HDR benfits from 10-Bit much more. Thank me later.

A HDMI 2.0 valóban látja 8-biten YCC 444 (PC Módban), de ha HDR10-es játékkal játszik a YCC 420-ra le eseik automatikusan 8 vagy 10-biten is! Ezért használja a 12-bitet YCC 422 engedélyezését és tartja játékok közben is ezeket a beállításokat...

So heres the thing, i own a acer monitor with a native resolution of 1600x900p and my xbox one is set to 720p, pc rgb is on since the monitor supports it but i dont know if i should enable 4:2:2 or not. Youre saying not to enable if your monitor or tv doesnt support 12 bit whcih mine doesnt abviously, but does it have any negative effect if my hdmi port isnt hdmi 2.0? I dont know if its 2.0 or 1.4 since as much as ive looked online for my monitors specs, nothing shows up in terms of what hdmi version it is, so im not sure if it supports hdmi 2.0 yet with ycc 422 disabled blacks look like real blacks yet any other color doesnt seem to show much difference i would say. Only blacks look darker which i feel like that should be the case with it but um im not sure.

My TV has hdmi 2.1 ports but they are only able to do auto lo latency mode, from what iv read in reviews. I have had 4k blu rays playing through my blu ray player with certified high bandwidth hdmi, and I'm seeing data transfers from blu Ray player to TV of 40 + gigs. Would this apply with the xbox also, so what exactly are my TV hdmi ports capable of with the xbox? Should I change the setting in this video or leave it? Please could you clear this up for me very confusing.

Interesting! I have question about PS5 hdmi bandwidth which is 32gbps! Do you think Hardware wise Sony can uncapped the signal to 48gbps for 12bit 4.4.4? Since many people dont know to go with cheaper C1 G1 (40gbps hdmi) or C2 G2 which support 48gbps hmid bandwidth!
@UltraCasualPenguin Жыл бұрын
HDMI 2.1 bandwidth isn't enough for 4K120, 12bit, 4-4-4. It's 0,11 Gbps over 48 Gbps limit. You will have to wait for next version.

@HDTVTest Why does the xbox not output 12 Bit at YCC 4:2:0 ?
@Dreamer-793 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! Just found this out myself, seeing how I am in the process of setting up a 4K matrix 4x4 switcher throughout my house. 2.1 fiber cables are extremely costly. And I couldn’t justify the cost, not to mention potential incompatibility issues, with fiber 2.1 cables being so new to the market. A great work around is the 12-bit, 4:2:2 settings, which take full advantage of hdmi 2.0 spec. Thank you for this video... there isn’t much out there on this. 😉👍

@gagahouse2 жыл бұрын
You have to disable allow 4K on xbox video settings otherwise it defaults to 4K and because your monitor can't handle 4K120Hz it will automatically select 4K60hz. I had the same issue with an xbox one x and an LG C1 - by disabling allow 4K I was able to set 1440p@120hz but then you lose the HDR so I stuck to gaming on 4K60hz.
