When Xena's daughter Eve is captured by the Amazons, she must answer for her crimes as Livia, the fearsome Roman warrior.
From Xena Warrior Princess Season 6 Episode 14, “Path of Vengeance”: Eve is put on death-row by Varia and the rest of the amazons for raiding the village years ago. Xena and Gabrielle desperately try to get Eve off the hook, but Xena discovers that Varia has an underlying motive - Ares.

I can't remember the episode in question. But if Gabrielle and Xena (with a baby Eve) had stayed with the Amazon Tribe (with Gabrielle as Queen) I'm sure that Eve wouldn't have become Livia. 🤔

Season 5 Episode 16 and 17 ( Lifeblood and Kindred Spirits ). Xena and Gabrielle with baby Eve travel to the Northern Amazon Tribe. Gabby wants to give her Amazonian Right of Caste to Eve making her an Amazon Princess. Found it strange though since Gabrielle is from the Greek Amazon Tribe. Kind of like Amarice switching Amazon Tribes all the time and the fact Ama lied in the first place.

Eve is nothing like her mother. Xena feels regret and pain for what she did in her past but Eve does not. It's like the actress that plays her is dead inside.

I'm not sure why but it just doesn't feel the same. Xena changed when she saw a baby among the victims of her men, meaning her change was triggered by empathy. Eve changed because she saw a vision of her mother giving birth to her. Xena's dark past happened because she wanted to take revenge on the warlord that attacked her village. Eve's was just because... she was seduced by Ares? And what's most important, I think we've never seen Xena act with such cruelty and disregard for others as Livia did. Xena was just playing the game of being a warlord and got caught up with it. Livia was utterly cruel and dominated by rage.

I always wondered why she was trained as a warrior. Every time Xena interacted with Rome we never saw fenale warriors. I could only surmise since she was Xena's daughter Augustus saw a chance to create a great warrior for Rome. That and the fact she had Callsto's soul was perfect recipe to create the monster she became. The problem with the light redemption is that it was a deux ex machina and lobotomized her. She had no agency outside being the messenger which made it even more difficult to connect with her redemption.
