The Xenoblade series has very quickly become my favorite game series of all time. The passion, care, and vision that goes into these games is mind blowing, and even the things I don't like about the games are interesting to talk about and pick apart. The worlds and characters that Takahashi created are going to stay in my mind for a long time.

I’m glad someone finally gives the villains the credit they deserve. They weren’t written worse than previous games, they were just different because they serve a different purpose. In a game so deeply focused on how characters respond to the realization of how little time they have, a character made as a reflection of those feelings is perfect.
@bianks3916 Жыл бұрын
They're 100% written worse, they're different I can understand someone appreciate them, but Z as a main villan is the worse of the trilogy, the same goes for some of others villains like Shania and J-boy one is the most over used concept for a villain in anime but exaggerated in her actions, one is J C'mon. (Dirk is also bad I guess?) N is awesome, reminds me of Anakin but with all the abstractionism that characterizes xc3 (again someone can dislike abstract things and others like it). Z and Moebius in general are retarded, they're the summer ruler of the world controlling literally everything, Z can kill people just passing by them. For a comparison just imagine Freezer and his army on earth when goku was a kid. The only Enemy of Moebius (and they say it) are Uroboros, instead of instantly kill them (Remember they had potentially control over every single soldier of any colony, know Uroboros position almost every time and had multiple moebius than could killed them since the start) they decided to "send" the weakest moebius possible every time. If Z, N, M, X, Y, or even 2 Moebius or 2 controlled colonies were enough to killed Uroboros. Meanwhile the party started to save colony after colony, killing moebius and advancing all Z did was watch his stupid movie, all of this just to saying "I underestimate you" when you fight him; really Z? no way! They even couldn't beat us after what Shania did, they put us in prison. All of this stupidity is in contrast with Z character who act like a god that knows everything, which unbeatable army got destroyed by 6 guys. Even Zanza that is a simple villan who (jrpg clichè) is gad that what to destroy the world, has a valid plan and as a character is more than just fascinating bc his mysterious and his the manifestation of some shit like Z.

If you haven’t realized the font of the title is actually being seen-off as well as the term marking being in the 3, other games importance’s to the story were included in their titles as well, Xenoblade 1’s title is written similar to the arts of the Monado, as well as definitive edition adding feathers for future connected and Melia’s importance to the story. Xenoblade 2’s logo has the logo set ablaze by Pyra’s flame and the marking on her chest being in the 2. It’s amazing how much love these developers put into the game that they even add little details like this to the Logos of the game. Thank you Monolith for giving us these amazing experiences.

this summer i tried xc2 by complete accident, not knowing literally nothing of the series, the start was kinda rough, but the experience was overall amazing and jumped into xc3 straight after i actually enjoyed 2 way more, might be because i didn't have any expectation and it caught me by surprise, while the opposite happened with 3, incredibly high expectations after xc2, and it didn't live up to them, that's on me but still, if someone would have told me i would be so invested in the story of a game when i'm more of a "gameplay first" guy i would have laughed at, but xenoblade pulled this feat on me despite the odds and i will forever cherish the series i absolutely loved xc3 as well of course, don't get me wrong, it was an emotional rollercoaster... it's just... rex and his gang feel more charming to me but i love you xenoblade chronicles 3, i love you, and all of you guys
@GantaIgarashi2 жыл бұрын
Glad to know there is someone else who enjoyed XC2 just as I did when I first played it. I remember playing 2 right after it came out at 2019 with full knowledge of 1's story through let's plays from chuggaconroy which is the reason why I bought the game when it released. There was no Definitive Edition for me to play and at the time the Wii (which I didn't have and couldn't afford to buy) was the only place to play and the game and its UI and gameplay were a little outdated at the time. I also didn't put high expectations on the game when I first bought it and it surprised me on how much I enjoyed playing the game. The story was compelling and the gameplay was fantastic that I always have an adrenaline rush while doing chain attacks which I still can't find in 1 and 3's. While I know people bash on the gatcha system for its randomness and how it stops you from experiencing the game a 100% if you are completing it but I felt that the mechanic made replays through the game much more appealing than 1 or 3s. Sure the game is fun the first time around but when you play it a second time you already have a general idea of your team composition, classes, arts, accessories, etc. For 2 the Blades you get are random and that makes your own playthrough of a game much more personal as depending on what kind you get or lack of the way you approached battles can differ each time you start over again. To this day I've played the game at least 10 times with each playthrough being unique every time and beating it as well with satisfaction of going through it multiple times while recording it on my notebook of how different each playthrough was each time. XC2 and its characters were charming and appealing to me as I could relate to Rex as a young protagonist whose optimism reminded me of when I was his age where I always looked at the bright side of things. Learning about his tragic backstory and the painful experiences he was going to face made me admire how he could still smile even in the face of despair and act as a guiding light for me and the party members who follow him in his quest to find Elysium. I also found how people who tried to make Rex face reality that he can't do everything to be the same as the people who doubted my potential and tried to put me down due to "living longer" or "being more experienced" than I was. Despite this Rex pushes on and learns to fight his own war without letting the burdens of the past shackle him to fight foe the future and the one he loves. Pyra and Mythra were fantastic at showing how trauma can change a person both figuratively and physically. They made a big mistake in the past and have condemned themselves for their sins due to the fear of repeating what they did before. They punish themselves constantly yet Rex keeps on reaching out to them both and accepting them for who they are. Eventually they are able to bear this burden and finally tap into their true selves and power to live for the future. I could go on but without Rex, Pyra/Mythra, Nia, Dromarch, Morag, Brighid, Tora, Poppi, Zeke, Pandoria, and Gramps I might not have liked XC3 as much since I get to see their legacy make into the world of Aionios. Sadly I also had high expectation of XC3 and that might have made me feel the last 2 Chapters of the game to fall short in my eyes. Hopefully the DLC can change how I feel and give me a good story that I can say that the game was able to make me forget this feeling.

I agree a lot and had the same thoughts as you, but you tied up so neatly the ending, with both your script and the scenes you chose, especially Sena and Lanz sacrifice while talking about how holding to the present can destroy you, I really never thought of overheating as that, I literally took it for granted (matter antimatter something something). Now I am convinced the ending is the best it could be, and how it ties to live the Now to the fullest, since you never know which paths there will be in the future. Thanks, it was an amazing video and you made me cry a lot again.

It's the same reason the finale of The Office hits so damn hard for me. I'm moving on to my 30s, I've seen friend groups come and go with my current one being the longest standing one but I dread the day that this one moves on too, but I know it's coming. However, I don’t want Nintendo to milk it dry, I want him- the director and creator of this franchise part of the larger XenoSeries, take his time with it. Really good analysis! This is such a high quality video! Its good to see more appreciation for this game as time goes by. It really deserves it! One thing that really got me was how little they cared about life and death and how little they react to the circumstances around them involving death because of their short life of war and conflict. Chapter 5 comes around and seeing Mio/M acknowledge this and how hard they now want to fight to survive, and how hard it affects Noah and the crew is absolutely devastating. Just absolutely top tier writing!

Wow. I never thought I I would actually find a video that understands the story as I do. Everything you said is exactly my point of view and why I love this game, especially when it comes to Z. I think what makes the ending even worse is time gets reset, and now the party is not only worlds apart, but if they someone can meet again they probably won’t fully remember each other. It’s really bittersweet to think about, and is one of the reason I would love to see an epilogue dlc that tackles the consequences of the main party’s actions. Like you I’m in a very similar position rn in my own life, and this game hit me just as hard. I know a lot of people were upset with the lack of returning characters, the villains in the story and some narrative choices, but honestly I think Xenoblade 3 standing on its own while using the legacy of 1 and 2 is what allows it to be as strong as it is. The ending encapsulates the themes perfectly, and I am really curious to see how they would tackle that in a potential follow up dlc. Regardless if that happens or not, the story and overall game is just incredible, and it is by far one of the best video game stories ever told. I find it to be very thematic when you look back and see that the xenoblade trilogy tackled the future, past and present respectively, and how each of the characters both protagonists and antagonists are effected by it. All I know is I can’t say for the dlc and whatever comes next, great video man.

I'm going to speak some cold hard facts for a second. (generic spoilers but nothing specific) Xenoblade 3 is an amazing game, but it's not the peak of the trilogy. If we compare writing with the past 2 games, Xenoblade 1 has by far the best writing, plot twists, and plot points in the series as a whole. And Xenoblade 2, for the amount of people that shit on it, has made me cry more than every other xenoblade game i've played. Xeno 2 also heavily, heavily makes up for itself in the last half of the game while Xenoblade 3 actually gets worse at the end in my opinion. The last 2 chapters of Xenoblade 3 were just so "eh" at best. Especially the last one. I think this has to do with how we have become spoiled by the Xenoblade formula (which probably isn't a good thing on our part. The game did well diverging from it or trying to). And by that I mean there were no plot twists. Sure there was one giant chapter plot twist, but when it came down to the villains nothing happened. We knew who the enemy was from the very beginning and we just beat him in the end. Very linear and simple, like most stories. (I won't talk about how the fight was very boring as well, it was just a long cutscene pretty much, albeit a pretty one). It's an odd feeling. The game did nothing wrong, but lots of people were betrayed by our own expectations at the very end. I loved the game and have sunk hundreds of hours into it up to now, but I would have to put it below Xeno 1 and 2 personally in the series in terms of the overall story (we will see about the additional story DLC). In terms of gameplay, I'd rank it 1st probably, it was very fluid and fun to fight.

I am also facing a huge life difficulty, a trauma that is still bothering my daily life, thats why N's grief and Noah's determination as well as how the team moves on despite future uncertainty touched me ... Literally everytime I hear the ost of xb3 I goes teary. XB series really grow with us

Thank you for contextualising the story with respect to reality. I'm tearing up over what I missed out thematically when I finished the game, and it's so relatable given what I'm dealing with right now. I still need some time to process this..

I loved Xenoblade 3 and it's my Game of the Year for 2022. But I still much prefer Xenoblade Definitive Edition.

Wonderful video! I am also about to leave college, about to head off into the real world whether I like it or not, but the themes of the series have always been with me to remind me that it's okay to be scared, but we must also fight for the future we want and grab the chance to seize our destinies! Also, you didn't have to play that piano rendition and do me like that ;_;

Xenoblade X is very much a spinoff, even the message is diferent since its about human nature and the indomitable human spirit.

I finaly finished the video. Your personal story is close to mine. It's maybe why loved the game story. It's because it's me.

Wow, that was amazing, I know after playing it 3 was my favourite but I couldn't pinpoint why? like I finished it (side quests and super bosses) and had fun but didn't feel the endless need to keep playing it as I did with 2 (swear I put like 180 hrs in that game) till eventually, I got sick of it. Then it hit me, things end and things change like yeah i will be back for the DLC and stuff but forcing myself to keep playing it expecting it to be as good as when I started kinda relates to the themes of the game which is why I'm so content being done with playing it. Also, I too am at university and though I'm enjoying the inconsequential nothingness of studying for the next week and having fun with friends but some big changes are coming soon that I'm kinda afraid of and wish what I'm comfortable with now keeps happening. So this story definitely strikes a chord with me. This is honestly quite cringey and feels like the "thanks for saving my life.... i am literally just a video game" meme but this game definitely feels like a timeless message where even if some parts are weaker than others it doesn't matter as it all coalesces into an amazing whole that will be one of my favourite stories for a while. So in short.............................Great video!

I am obsessed with it. At times it felt like they are stretching the story a bit tho, repeating dramatic speech here and there.

Wait no singing cats? Jk great video. Honestly the only problem I have with the story is Z. He is not that captivating as a villain. I’d care about him more if he was an actual character with personality like Malos or Zanza. Rather than being a culmination of fears and desires and all that anime bs. The rest of this game is PERFECTION. Specifically the gameplay. I still think I like the story and world of XC2 a little bit more, but the gameplay of 3 has a ton of replay value.

PLS do a video about the music *.*
@mariokabisch43422 жыл бұрын
First of all, great Video. However i am surprised that you didnt go into the music at all (esp. regarding ur other content). Is that because you didnt Like the music as much as the other two(or Just 1) or because of time constraints?
@RamenBomber2 жыл бұрын
I tried to find a way to slide in my thoughts about the music but the video was already as long enough as is and with how I want to discuss it, I think it’d be better for me to give it its own separate video 🫡. That’ll most likely be what I work on next and will be a LOT shorter than this one but thank you so much for watching!
