When you're doing that loop combo, tap L2 + Forward the second the launching Attack connects to cancel into a dash. It'll let you perform the follow-up combo much faster. Actually, you should try tapping L2 in general. It's good as a quick dodge and approach tool.

I get what you mean with the RNG being a problem (For anyone asking about the Masters, there can only be two masters at a time in the main hub: The one you have now and someone else that the RNG picks) but something that I think is the worst is how the AI characters are a pain in the ass when you have to fight them by yourself and the AI has anywhere between 2 to 5 characters fighting against you. There's also the fact that Namco may have made SSJ locked CPU foes overpowered if PQ #32 is anything to go by (3 areas, 2 fighters in SSJ form each, 15 mins to take care of them all in case you're asking what the mission is about and it's one of those missions where you have to talk to a NPC to go to the mission so you can't bring anyone along until you beat the mission the first time.) SSJ locked characters can spam fire ultimates with no worries and you can't punch them out of the ultimate no matter what.

RNG is your biggest enemy when doing Parallel Quests and finding Masters. Trying to get the Ultimate Finish to activate or trying to get that one specific Skill or Equipment to drop is unnecessarily brutal...

It took me less than an hour of grinding to get the first 6 dragon balls. I had to dragon ball grind for 2 hours to get the last one. I've also played the "Majin Revival" quest about 20 times now and still don't have the angel wings. I like the amount of customization this game has, but getting exactly what you want can be a pain in the neck for all the wrong reasons.

I dont mind the masters, for me the second im done with one the one i want shows up in a day, as for z souls, yeah thats ridiculous. Im looking at you friezas nightmare, ive been grinding for that damn vegito z soul ever since February.

But in Xenoverse you can't colour most cloths like in UT and some missing characters.

also there are very few costumes that you can even change the color on, we need more color customizable costumes, for free, Im not paying for something that should already be in game

Exactly "specific outfits" unlike in UT where you can color any outfit or have some different hairstyle and colour them in xenoverse they give you wigs.. and the hair when going ssj in xenoverse doesn't go up only stays the same so it seems really like a missed opportunity but thats my opinion.

Glad to see you'll be posting a review! But... how does your character hit so damn hard? my max attack/striker saiyan (male) with the best gear for basic attack doesn't kill Vegeta that quickly (though he DOES die quickly, its not as fast...). Looking forward to your thoughts. Your reviews were the best.

HackedGlitch265 Depends how much stats you have on your basic attacks. (100 in basic attacks makes the biggest difference)

I love the look and premise of this game. My big issue with it right now is the controls, I need to figure out how to master them as well as why you can't fly in tokitokicity (whatever it's called.)

I'd be alright with the RNG...if it wasn't double layered. RNG for drops is one thing, but RNG for the Ultimate Mission after fulfilling the requirements, that's stupid. That should be guaranteed.

I still have not finished playing the story so I cannot say what I think about that as a whole but as for the Gameplay, yeah I really like it, it's not perfect by any means and I do feel it has a few flaws but compared to Battle of Z and Ultimate Tenkaichi, this is a lot better. Is it my favourite Dragonball Z game ever? Probably not, currently my favourite remains Raging Blast 2 and from the looks of things, that's never going to change which to me is a real shame because I actually really loved the Raging Blast series and if they were to make a Raging Blast 3, I would be so happy about that. Anyway, back to the game, my biggest problem that comes from this is the lack of detail put into the Supers and Ultimates. Even Ultimate Tenkaichi got this part just right for me, the ultimates were really cinematic and gave me that Dragonball Z feeling but here? It's just simple beams or rushes but with no actual cutscenes. Maybe I am speaking too soon here as I have yet to unlock all the supers but from what I've seen from the regular characters, they just feel too lackluster. Another issue I have with the game is they don't let you make enough created characters, considering the amount of depth they gave us for making a character which by the way is 1 of the best things about this game, 8 slots is way too small, if it was me I'd have limited it to amount of space your game system can hold and since my Playstation 3 has 500GB, I'd be able to make tons of characters. Alright, bad points over, now for the good points, this game's base Gameplay is really good, it's fast paced, it's actually pretty simple to understand and it has loads of variety to pick from. I also really love the music, thank goodness we didn't get any tunes reused from previous games, for once we get a proper original soundtrack. As for what I've seen in the story so far, I've really enjoyed it, I've gotten so sick of replaying the same story over and over and for this game, it's finally something new and I am so glad they decided to go and make it. Alright, that's enough from me, I think I have typed enough as it is.

Even though it's old as hell an the graphics look like crap in comparison I still prefer Budokai Tenkaichi 3. If they remade BT3 in HD I would buy that in a heartbeat.

Even with no online? I got all excited for B3 when they did the remake and after a good month or two i saw no more thrill in playing it just beating the brain dead cpu's. If a BT3 HD does happen and no online then its a no go for me

***** BT3 is shit though. It has a lot of characters but they all play EXACTLY the same. Okay, not exactly. There are like 3 types and each character falls into one of those exact types. The story mode was terrible, the other game modes weren't very fun... BT3 is just a bad game.

If only the mechanics of B3 (except hyper mode) were fleshed out more and made into a real fighting game instead of a button masher. A nice 2.5D fighting game.

CardCaptorTsukasa I guess it depends on whether you like a game for how good of a fighting game it is or how much dbz fan service it has. I liked the character roster, special moves, and all the alternate costumes. But admittedly the combat was pretty basic. though while xenoverse has more depth it's still not to the point where everyone is different. though with how many characters there are in the DBZ universe i don't think its possible to make each character unique.

***** you say BT3 was basic, maybe the premise of the game but there are people out there who showed you can do some pretty unique things in that games combat on another level. But the 3D DBZ games were more about timing and reactions than anything and it showed when you play against a real player than cpu. XV hardly has any of that, mostly running around waiting on the person to stop spamming Ult's than attack. Aside from that i was expecting more from XV combat in the brawler type aspect, Zenkai and BoZ have features i wish were in this game...just need them all to a fusion or something and it would be perfect lol

I actually like this game... connecting to the server can be a pain in the ass and I don't like the fact that there's no main menu really gotta basically do everything from the social world... But the main thing is it's not just another playthrough of the story again it actually has a twist of history changing IMO this is the best dbz game since BT3... BL, RB 1&2, UT, AND BOZ was all mediocre

Masurao Katori Richardson yeah I know compared to Tenkaichi 2 and 3 it didn't really do too much, but it was still fun and enjoyable (unlike kinect, ut, and boz) and did play almost just like tenkaichi 3. The few new things they added like the ability to smack away beams, the what if characters, and the move customization (which is just great) were really fun.

Except for the RNG of getting the ultimate win on PQ's i see 0 RNG in the game. People complain most about missing combo's yet they don't realize doing a step in gaurantees a perfect accuracy combo.

RNG is for the dragon balls and items themselves, you can't control not guarantee how to get something you want

Chris Discenza Re-read my comment. The ultimate win condition is how you get your items and since that is the only RNG in the game i still see this as an amazing fighting/mmo mix especially since it uses one of the best animes (opinion) as a base.

Nah because that's not how the dragon balls work, they are a random chance when you defeat a patroller, ultimate finish has nothing to do with that

I have a question about the game. For me DBZ games have only ever served one purpose. Being DBZ simulators. When it comes to DBZ, I don't care about online multiplayer, I don't care about game balance, I don't care about anything besides it being as accurate a representation of the show as humanly possible. Now, I believe that you, Omega 2040, understand this view in some way, seeing as you've always had this category of "DBZness" in your DBZ game reviews. My question is this: If "DBZness" is literally the only thing I care about when it comes to this game, should I, in your opinion, buy it or not? In my opinion, not having played it but having seen a ton of videos, I shouldn't. It doesn't look and feel like DBZ to me. It looks too low-powered and non-cinematic. Having said that, Tenkaichi 3 doesn't look particularly flashy either, and that is in my book, still the best DBZ simulator out there, so I might very well be wrong about this game. That is why I'm asking. And naturally, anyone else can feel free to answer this one for me as well, if you care enough.

Sscow Ss I liked Raging Blast 2, but I don't feel that the characters in the anime do combos like those in RB2. Also less characters than Tenkaichi 3, and for my perfect DBZ simulator I want as many characters as I can get. Still, I think if there had been a Raging Blast 3, that one would probably be my favorite.

Uni Lastation Well, the guy who's working on the fan wish project DID show his ideas to the developers...and I do notice that the developers may have taken note of those things while making Xenoverse even if they aren't directly working on RB3. And with how the RB series didn't sell well, they're probably forced to experiment with new formulas.

Honestly I don't mind most of the English voices, admittedly for nostalgia but still this is DBZ game released like 15 years after the series ended. the reason anyone buys this game should be for nostalgia lol.
