When there is an opportunity to summon an NPC who has a direct Lore connection against the boss the community turns these fights into genuine moments. Igon became so famous the millisecond his voice actor started letting out screams that cut through the sound of Bayle's thunder. After he became famous in the community, Richard Lintern (VA of Igon) noticed that many people started congratulating him for what amounted to less than a page of dialogue. In an interview Richard revealed much of how in FromSoft VAs read their lines while Miyazaki is present in the Recording Booth is something we thought was a myth but Miyazaki really is present in all NPC recordings. In his case Richard said that he spent 6 hours recording, repeating the lines, and by the end he was exhausted but he suspects Miyazaki did it on his own so he was just as exhausted as Igon.

Gotta give Igon the credits though, he basically said "I don't wanna die in my old age on a deathbed as a crippled, if I am going down then I'll go down fighting Dragon Satan himself."

Also Bayle y Igon is a reference to Moby Dick.

20:26 Placidusax is actually the only with a dragon incant that uses pure faith. All the others (besides Bayle) require a bit of faith but a bunch of arcane

About the magic types in Elden Ring, they are similar to those in D&D: - Intelligence stuff is usually for the Elden Ring equivalent of D&D's Wizardly magic, you need to be a nerdge in order to use it. - Faith is similar to like Cleric, Paladin, Druid, and Ranger magic, it's not necessarily attributed just to Wisdom in D&D as both Paladins and Divine Soul Sorcerers use Charisma. - Arcane from Elden Ring would be similar to all magic types in D&D that aren't really Divine nor Wizardly (Intelligence-based Nerd Magic used by Wizards and Artificers), basically the magic used by Sorcerers, Warlocks, and Bards, and even in Elden Ring we have examples of at least D&D Sorcerers (The Albinaurics who use Glintstone Magic with their own innate magical energy) and Warlocks (The various worshipers of the Outer Gods that use Bleed and Scarlet Rot effects). Dragon Communion spells on the other hand are spread throughout Arcane and Faith (with maybe some small requirements of Intelligenc, I'm not sure), and the Dragon Communion Talisman scales the best with Arcane, although it's kinda wonky because spells also have their own secret scaling, and so you sort of need to match a spell to the correct talisman to get the maximum scaling. And since Arcane is the best stat for Status Effect spells like Mogh's spells, you should for example use whatever is the Talisman specialized on the spell you are casting on your off-hand while using the Talisman of your build on your main hand to cast the spell, for example, a Frenzied Flame build should use the frenzy talisman on the off-hand and the Dragon Communion on the main hand if you care about infliciting Frenzy (which only really works in PVP). Of course, Lore-wise all Magic is just Magic and comes from the Cosmos/Stars, for the absolute Soyjaking of the Redditors from Raya Lucaria, who are on copium that they aren't using Divine Magic and it is instead something purely scientific.

Bayle is probably my favorite boss in any game I’ve faced, ever, purely for his lore. The world of Elden Ring as a whole feels like it’s in ruins, not as in ruined buildings and architecture, it feels like the ruins of life itself. I guess there’s a commentary there, that the ruin of life is eternal life? Anyway, in a world that feels so tired and lifeless, Bayle is ALIVE. Brimming with fury and defiance, even as he dies he winds up for one final strike. And as he fights you, he gains the second set of wings he always should have had. Despite everything, being born defective, hated, and assaulted and wounded repeatedly, he stands strong and defiant, and I’d argue he’s the greatest of the dragons. Placidusax (or however you spell that) was strong, sure, but his strength comes at least in part from faith (placidusax’s ruin and/or golden breath) whereas Bayle was equal to him with his strength alone (arcane). Or, at least close to equal anyway. What an absolute badass. And to top it all off, those who partake in dragon communion are eventually consumed by the dragon hearts within them, which means that in a way, Bayle will one day rise again Edit: I don’t think there’s any plans for more Elden Ring DLC, but it would be cool to visit and explore the land of reeds

Your joke about Japanese MH longsword players had me rolling. But also, it is interesting that there are dragon communion warriors from the Land of Reeds because Sekiro himself is sort of a dragon "communion" warrior, given his connection to the Divine Dragon.

Makes sense that they would take inspiration from their older projects. Don't know too much about Sekiro yet though, but that sounds intriguing.

If you ever do a modded run (seemless co-op) of Elden Ring, I'd love to hop in to randomly give a hand or be a body guard in invasions.

New Elden Ring's lore reaction drop just when I'm financially nable to resub, talk about luck! Regarding your question about more DLC, sadly Miyazaki said that they weren't planning on making anymore DLC or sequel for Elden Ring. The full quote (auto-translated) was: I think I said the same thing about "DARK SOULS III" in a previous interview, but basically I don't mean to say, "This is completely over." This is because I don't think there is any need to destroy the possibilities and good ideas that may arise in the future right now. However, at this point, there are no plans for additional DLC or "ELDEN RING 2."

Glad to have you back and always appreciate the support! It's unfortunate that there won't be more content, but I'm also glad in a way, cause that means they've told the story that they've wanted to tell. No need for endless live service content or a sequel that mucks up the greatness of the OG.

Igon is awesome, as is the fact that you can basically get a free dragon waifu for completing the quest, whenever I get around to playing the dlc, I'm going to make a point of fighting Bael

Fuck. Now i'm asking, does the elden beast was the god, and placidusax the consort ?! Did the two fucked and made spawn ?! It's not stupid if you think about it, the previous god of the greater will and it's consort, still there to help the next generation !

If you get into other Fromsoftware lore, I really hope Sekiro or Deracine get in the mix. Those games don't get talked about as much in terms of lore, unfortunately.
