They are based in Korea, mainly promotes & trained in Korea so by definition they are definitely K-pop. K-pop is an English term means pop music from Korea and not music from Koreans. So them being all Japanese has nothing to do with it.

Thank you for the reaction🙌 XG is a Global Hip hop and R&B group, that's why they sing in English. They're Japanese but they have Global ambitions and that's why their music is heavily influenced by Western (mostly American) music. Their producer has said that they're not J-pop or kpop, and Shooting Star's composers/lyricists are mainly Americans. There's a lot of Japanese culture in this MV like the references to Sailor Moon, Mario and the Hello Kitty T-shirt. The fashion and makeup is a mix of 90's~00's Harajuku and Gyaru fashion. XG debuted less than a year ago, at the end of March 2022 with Tippy Toes. I'm really glad that you enjoyed this, it was a fun reaction

Left Right video live stage here was a surprise B-side that came right after the Shooting Star debut, as a bonus. It blew up. So they created an Official MV, and it kept blowing up. Jackson Wang and Ciara at Coachella ... American Top 40 for weeks ... 40 M views!

FYI - they are not a K-pop group. They train in South Korea and are produced there, but they are JAPANESE. They advertise as a Global Hip-Hop group.
