I struggled with picking up the language and was more interested in playing outside, drawing, etc. However, a couple years back I had to learn Greek for some class electives in college and thought I was not smart enough due to my past struggles. Well, it was easier than thought. I was able to read, write, etc. Stupid easy these days with KZbin to pick up a second language.

I don't know any chinese but I can tell that from their reactions, it's not just that you know the language, but you sound like a completely native speaker. it must be so cool for them. as a native english speaker its hard to have a moment like that when conversing with others.

i don't know, it could also be that he is speaking properly, as in not using alot of slang and things as native speakers of any language tend to do. i've met a couple of Europeans who 100% spoke better english than i generally do, only thing that tends to give them away is accent. i mean just how often do you misuse "then" and "Than" in conversation?
