@volbla2 жыл бұрын
I found this out the hard way. With blocks on the side like that (unless it's logs or leaves), only "fancy oak" with branches and stuff can grow. There is a 1/12 chance to get a fancy oak, so a lot of bonemeal is wasted while waiting for that. On the other hand, if you only want straight oak trees you can place a block 8 blocks above the sapling and it'll prevent the fancy ones. These type of growth rules are different for every tree type, by the way 🙃

With regards to the tree farm blast chamber: - Instead of converting the logs into a single block stream, just push them as the stack that they grow as. There is no need to separate the logs if you eventually push them back together again. - Blocks being pushed by pistons have no blast resistance, so you can blow up more logs more efficiently if you time the pistons with the tnt blast

For anyone that’s wondering like I was - the comparator output is from the dispenser having stuff in it! Dispensers can measure container fullness through a single solid block (like the log). If you wanted to use a repeater, you’d need a redstone torch under the log (not possible because of the dirt) or a powered repeater going into one of the sides of the log (all of which are occupied right now. The comparator reading the dispenser output is a really clever trick to minimize space needed!

If you need something with a little more blast resistance than a redstone torch for triggering a piston, try using a wall with an observer. When the block comes in contact with the wall, it's state changes to connect to it, which the observer detects and triggers the output. Also works with ice farms, since ice is transparent and won't trigger a redstone output with a torch.
@qrafting2 жыл бұрын

@Sylfa2 жыл бұрын
You can use observers to detect when a piston should redirect a piston feed tape, you just have to place the observer so it doesn't see the piston head at any time. The benefit is that they run faster, which might not be necessary with that particular design, but it'll be handy in some cases. Oh, and it won't work too well with copper blocks that can decide to age all of a sudden.
