The Hermits have experienced a real world/life loss, they have the right to grieve off-screen and in their own way. It's sad that some people don't treat you all like the fellow humans that you are. It's my own personal opinion that TFC probably would not have liked for his death to be this huge Hermitcraft event. He seemed like a reserved guy who just wanted to play minecraft. I'd been watching him for a year or two and it weirds me out that people want some kind of show of grief from the hermits, something that probably would have weirded TFC out too. sometimes it's those simple tasks that we might normally find routine that are the simplest ways to get back to some sense of normalcy, an opportunity to just shut the brain off and simply run on auto-pilot. The quest system I think is going to be a key healing system for many hermits, giving them something to focus on as they return to the server. I can't even begin to think of how "quiet" the server must feel right now, even when multiple hermits are online.

I personally am very interested in the behind the scenes and the "chores", so every once in a while you can include more, if you want. There is definitely an audience for this :) Also: grief is very personal and don't feel like you have to do something biiiig and show-off-y to honor TFC in a flashy way. You and all the hermits are humans and if you can't put a show on or don't feel like doing so, then don't. i didn't say this on the last video because i felt like maybe it wasn't my business, but i think you guys should do whatever it is you need to do to grieve the passing of your friend. it's always tragic to lose a friend, but to do so in such a public manner through an entertainment medium that is your livelihood makes it a bit strange. you don't have to perform your grief to your audience for it to be real. however, that isn't to say that all such gestures you make in your videos are performances - if you feel like honoring him in the game and through hermitcraft (the youtube series) is what you want to do, i think that's wonderful. he clearly loved the game, and you were all his friends, so i'm sure he would understand. i hope you're all doing well and taking whatever time that you need.
@ward14762 жыл бұрын
People should keep in mind that the hermit's grief is not entertainment. You are not entitled to it. The Hermits are not obligated to grieve in public, as if it was some hecking reality tv show from the early 2000's. I get most of y'all are kids who didn't remember those days but let's just say it was not ok. Whether they do some big memorial build on the server is their choice and is between them and the memory of TFC. It would be part of their grieving process, not of your regular hermitcraft entertainment. I get most people get this, but I've seen some comments that seriously crossed the line (like demanding a big cool monument to "explore" in the world download). The Hermits need their time, and when that time comes, not only will they know what to do but they'll be able to put their all into it. So chillax community, let the Hermits grieve, be patient and let them be people. Sidenote: Thanks for the video on the admin side of things X! Honestly X, you are right; grieving comes in different shapes and sizes. You as well as the other Hermits always deserve time to recollect yourself in situations (like TFC's passing) and find your way back on the grind. Some will take a long while and others will be short; the point is that you all are okay and well. This goes for the same with his fans; I know I've been trying to move on but it hurts whenever I'm not busy/see things that remind me of TFC. If you guys plan to do something for TFC, I'm sure you all will do well. It wouldn't have to be big or too extravagant or even if it's just a personal way, I hope you all don't overthink about it as well as for the other viewers NOT to pressure the Hermits to do it/anything. I'm one that enjoys 'behind the scenes' stuff. I've often said I could watch a two hour (or longer) movie on how a movie was made. Admin things for the server is interesting to me. I don't understand the viewers that 'demand' something be done for TFC now, or have been rude to other Hermits that have already done a tribute to TFC, or not able to talk about it right now. I have faith y'all will do what you need to do to be able to grieve, and as you and the other Hermits have said, people grieve in their own ways. It takes time to wrap one's thoughts around things like this too. Sometimes it may take what others think is a long time. My mom died a year ago (will be a year ago tomorrow Aug 21), and there are days it still doesn't seem real, that I feel like I'm asking myself is this real or a bad dream? My brother died three weeks ago today, and here I am doing the same. Just a couple days ago I asked my daughter, Uncle J really is gone isn't he? I didn't watch TFC until season 8, so I don't think I really knew what he was like since it seems like his health problems started maybe not long before season 8? But he seemed like a simple person to me, like he wouldn't like a lot of fuss or fanfare. Just something simple. Of course, I'd never even begin to try to tell you all what you should or shouldn't do, specially since y'all knew him way better than I.

ok on the TFC thing...Forcing a group of people to build a memorial or do something when that might not be how they want to or just plain how they mourn/grieve is just wrong. Like some hermits might be taking it really hard and the last thing they might want to do is get on a game and be forced to do all those feelings that they are going through to build it. also some hermits might of been super close with TFC how is it gunna be for them if they build the memorial and than have to log on to this game for their job every day and have to see it and because how they grieve might be different than how you or i do they are super saddened by the memorial everytime they see it or know its on the server because it reminds them of tfc and for them it might not bring joy remembering a friend but just the sadness of losing him. and heck TFC was a simple man not even sure he would of been comfortable with a grandiose gesture/memorial (honestly thing cleo just placing the candle was the right kind of thing..but again that just me) . but yeah hermits do what you need to do with taking into account all the hermits feelings. for me when i lost someone close for at least the first year or so anything and everything that reminded me of them just put me in a great sadness if there is a hermit that is like that it would make logging onto the server absolutely devastating and torturous. so if there is a hermit like that i would personally much prefer the ones that want to do something maybe just go to that 10th anniversary server and just go through all the different branch mining things tfc did over the years and talk/remember him that way, or build something for him on that server and not on this server where it might be too much for a hermit..or you guys could all be good with a memorial on this server and thats great to..its all up to you guys dont feel forced to do something just because people in comments expect or think you should..which thats more in the TFC mindset anyways as he was and did what he wanted no matter what others did or said and was always just true to himeself so it kind of fitting.

There is no handbook or guidelines for grief. Everyone does it in their own way, some people may not grieve at all. It doesn't need to be done in public. It doesn't need to be a spectacle. It doesn't even need to be mentioned ever again. Hopefully the viewers can respect whatever processes people choose and not put ANY pressure on anyone to be performative. 🖤

Having been a member of an online community for more than 17 years, my condolences. It's a humbling event when you become old enough as a community to experience loss and it's one I'm sadly familiar with.

I really feel like since zombies can’t pick up glow ink they shouldn’t be able to pick up like string or bones etc, bc they pile up and create a ton of lag

I feel like making a simple memorial for him would be enough. But everyone has his own values.

Agreed. Cleo placed a candle at his door. It was beautiful and simple and more than enough. Place a candle, keep him in your heart. That’s just perfect in my mind.

oh i fully agree, but this is also the hermitcraft server. they dont often like to do things simplistic. i can imagine whatever they decide as a group, itll be one of the most memorable things during season 9.

If y'all just did one huge branch mining session, I feel that would be more then enough for TFC

I guess I didn't realize how much they must talk off camera. Like I don't think I've ever seen TFC collab with anyone, but clearly they were all good friends IRL. I feel so bad for them all!
