Hi Brian... I'm enjoying your video. At around 1:15:10 and before you went down to the basement to solder, the XK 6 transmitter was beeping and balking an alarm. The Tx was doing that because you powered it with the collective/throttle stick not at zero or at the bottom and throttle hold was off.. With so much to do, you didn't realize that the stick was almost at half stick. No bueno, not even on a more expensive radio. Thank you for taking the time to promote the hobby with your expertise.

Thanks for the info! I agree that must have been what was going on ;) I'm still no heli-expert, by any stretch, even years later after filming this video, but I still enjoy learning how to work with them, and they get less and less scary to me as time goes by.

I've got one of these coming as a first collective pitch after wearing out a coaxial and flying a fixed pitch heli for years. I have more planes than anything, but fly my Eachine E119 more than anything. Looking forward to the challenge!

It is a challenge, but with plane flying skills, and some coaxial heli skills, you'll be fine. Just play with the Throttle and Pitch curves to dampen it, and it will fly docile like your coaxial heli's. That being said, we've done so many heli's since this one, if you find you're not impressed when it arrives (which I highly doubt, btw) you can check out all sorts of other amazing newer offerings - www.brianphillipsrc.com/heli

Hello, did you ever figure out what went wrong at 1:34:00? I think you're Throttle Hold was on. It's the Flip Switch on the upper right side of the transmitter. Throttle Hold won't let you throttle up the heli, well, hence the name Throttle Hold.

I got mine on June 2022, and I had to fix the controller too, same glitches as you but only on the yaw, it goes on the right as crazy, because no weld on the potentiometer connection. The test to do is : Shaking a bit the controller, servos are moving.

@@BrianPhillipsRC it's already shattered. and the tailboom broke. but i'm using ash and superglue as we speak to fix it. ordered replacements just in case. and i got a 3d printer to print custom ones. this thing is unluky though. the place i ordered it from only sent me 1 battery with it. so i had to order a spare from somewhere else wich arrived today. and instead of the 45x26x9mm that they said it was. it's 54x30x8.2mm so it doesn't fit. wanted to return it. and have it exchanged. so i requested it. and they said i didn't have to send it back and i would get a new one. (all automated btw so no human saw the interaction) but the model number is correct, so their system has the wrong sizes. now i am going to have 2 extra 800mah battery's that won't even fit in the helicopter. (unless i modify the frame. wich i ordered 2 spares for so i might just try that)

@@BrianPhillipsRC also i disagree. it's a bad choice. you should put a disclaimer on this to advise people against buying it. the spare parts are discontinue'd so everything that's available for sale atm. is just left over stock. and the most fragile stuff is already sold out. so by all means buy it if you wanna display it. or can fly without crashing it ever. but other then that. don't buy it.

Just got one a few weeks ago. The transmitter is hell to get into program mode. Have to try about 15 times. Yes I did read the owners booklet. The helicopter is way underpowered, if even a breeze comes up it will just go off, no amount of right stick will help even in high rate. The tail rotor is terrible, makes a high pitched whine and is all over the place. I just put it on a cabinet in the living room and it looks good there. Just my experience, you may have better luck.

Firstly: FUTABA FOR LIFE! Those are not "handles" they are VOR antennas, the Airbus Helicopters EC145C2 (the type I work with) was the Eurocopter EC145 which in turn was a development of the BK117 and the latest incarnation the H145 with a fenestron - a highly successful range of medium helis. I have a 4 channel WL Toys V912 brushless flybar bird.. Granted, I'm a quadcopter guy and do fly fixed wing. I guess after flying quads for 7 years, the chopper seems sluggish and not as crisp at the control. Took it out today for some flying around the house and nosed the damn thing in. Broke a few connection joints on the main rotor. Unlike a quad, it loses altitude quickly as the main rotor is tilted front or back..

3D/6G = stabilizer + auto leveling. If you want to flip the heli, you CAN, but you have to run in idleup and then turn off 3D/6G so that it'll allow you to flip over.

@@BrianPhillipsRC Yes, sharp enough to cut a high tension power line, which is what usually kills helos in a wire strike. The big "fins" you see aren't the cutters, though. They just guide the wire down/up to the base of the "fin" where the actual sharp blades are in a V-notch arrangement. I bought a helicopter model about 10 years ago. When I unboxed it, the 2 wires to the tail rotor were off from a bad soldering job. I set it aside but would like to try flying it now but here is my question? Which way does the tail rotor turn....up and forward, or down and backwards? I have tried finding the answer but nobody seems to know...Can you tell me?
@BrianPhillipsRC
@BrianPhillipsRC 4 жыл бұрын
Tail rotor produces thrust to counter the rotational forces generated by the main rotor. It points to the LEFT, when you have the tail boom facing you, and the nose of the heli pointed away from you. Make sure the thrust keeps the heli yawed straight ahead when you throttle up, and you'll know you've done it right....HOWEVER...if you don't know this answer, and it's 10 years old, I suspect you might be talking about a COAXIAL heli. In this case, there are two counter-rotating main rotors removing the necessity fro a tail rotor, which is instead used to pitch the heli to go forward or backward. In this case, you will have to guess and check.

Question: I am a rank newbie but how come the swashplate setting is 90 degrees where the three servos look like they're at 120 degrees. Reason I ask is mine (and I was lucky not to dork it) needs 50% right trim and 50% forward trim to hover. First lift offs were freaking hairy. I put an XK K123 on a different model (0) and it was rather benign with the 90 degree setting. Me thinks I might have to adjust the links on the K124 but I don't want to do that if selecting 120 degees would fix it.

Hey buddy, learn the heli terms. What you call throttle is the collective. What you call rudder is tail rotor/ anti torque pedals. Then what you call aileron is right/left cyclic. What you call elevator is forward/ aft cyclic. Have fun, just wanted to enlighten you meant no harm. Its good to use your terms for radio setup but in learning to fly helis its also good to know actual flight terms in explaining the flight physics of a heli. Your Chinglish reading was awesome! I highly recommend checking out John Salt's channel for professional help. Thanks for sharing.

Hi. just bought my K124, but it seems not working properly. I need to put the throttle to about 90% with default setting on the transmitter to get a lift. Even if it lift itself, it's knocking very violently and it even smashed itself to the ground on the very first flight :( ESC is heating up just after like 30 seconds of motor spinning. just ordered a new ESC, but any clue what's going wrong?
@BrianPhillipsRC
@BrianPhillipsRC 5 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you need to look at your throttle curve, then look very closely at the linkages going to the swash plate. Does the heli "Suck" itself down to the ground?
@shimousasougou
@shimousasougou 5 жыл бұрын
@@BrianPhillipsRC Thanks for the reply. My throttle curve is as default on the XK transmitter. whereas from the reviews online, suppose it fly well with the default setting. It "Suck" itself down to the ground in the idle up mode (which is okay) but I'm NOT flying it on idle up. And by visual, swash plate and servo horn are leveled and working just fine. I bought it on banggood Xmas sale but I suppose they where sending out defective product cheaply :(

@darkracer1252

31:45 eeh no it shouldn't tip the rotors at all. it has a swashplate. that means to move forward. the rotors are changing pitch every single rotation. they are pitched and producing lift at the rear of the heli. and they are horisontal not producting lift in the front of the helicopter. that makes the entire helicopter pitch forward. not just the rotor. and since the helicopter is on the ground. it cannot do that.

I think you should play with the throttle and pitch curve. It's a great way to make it "easy" to fly, in my opinon. It's a lot of guess and check, but you'll LOVE the feeling of control you get from the 5-6 adjustments. This is what I do at work, many, precise adjustments on scale systems until they really work good, not just kinda work. It drives most people crazy, until they have to use them ;)

Hi! I recently bought an xk k124 helicopter rtf and I can't get it to enter in 6g calibration mode/ 6g flight debugging mode(as per manual) ?! When I pull both sticks of the transmitter all the way to the bottom position and hold them there, as I read in the manual and as I watched in online videos, nothing happens. I tried all the settings I could think of : in 6g, 3g, even 3d mode; with dual rates high and low, with different values for the dual rates - under, to 100% and above, with different throttle curbs,I have factory reset the transmitter, I have rebind the heli to the transmitter etc, nothing happens. Can you get yours to enter 6g calibration mode? Thank you!
