I am genuinely proud of the work I put into making this video. Spent a long time working on the preliminary edit before sending it over to my man Isaac for the final edit. I hope you enjoy the video and as always, please leave feedback in the comments or through the like-system. I also have a BONUS QUESTION for you: What is meaning of my summoner name "Unbounded Domain"? (There are multiple right answers.) Good answers will get imaginary internet points. Best regards, Petu

the q extention is really powerful, with the passive stacks being maintained and also your cc off q 3 being much closer to your next cast of q 1 you can stack your q on minions or anywhere then take the q 3 in and be much more able to win a fight as your main damage ability is significantly closer to being back up. Side note: Aatrox q actually restarts its cd on each q cast, so while letting your q expire instead of casting all three lowers the cd, waiting the full duration of your q doesn't change the time from your q 3 to q 1.
@henrikh30893 жыл бұрын
12:45 Aatrox Q cd starts on the latest Q cast, meaning each time you press it, its cooldown goes back to full. This is the opposite of Riven Q, which starts on the very first Q cast.

@brocolive1950 Жыл бұрын
riven main here. Riven's difficulty doesn't only reside in the mecanics. Mecanics are actually pretty easy to learn, you just need to apply them without making mistakes. It takes some time but it's like, 5% of the work ? As said at 5:07 , it doesn't matter how good you are mecaniquely, if you play against a match up that can just counter you to never let you do your stuff. This is where riven's difficulty truly comes in : *90% of match ups counter riven.* Tanks, ranged, juggernauts, and even a big portion of bruisers, all counter riven. You really need to outplay them and have higher macro / wave management to come out ahead. Abilities like urgot E (dash knock up), Gragas E (dash bump), darius E (grab), quinn E (jump), or just pure statcheck just make you useless. Juggernauts all statcheck riven. Tanks statcheck her with tabis or brumble and a lot of other shit, and just provide more utility for their team no matter how they did in lane. Riven has no sustain and no range whatsoever. Not only auto attacks, but also spells. You have no way to poke the opponent from a safe distance, and no safe gapclosing and disengage. If you want to lower some HP, you need to take risks, while your ennemies can generally poke you down safely. And riven is unforgiving too. You mess up once, game over for you, but your opponents can mess up a ton of times it won't matter much. The only champs I can think of that aren't favoured against riven are jax and irelia, and the latter one I'd say is actually just even. The only way to shine as riven is to really know the match ups. You have to know how to play around these counter abilities, and statcheck champs. You have to know you can never fight a ilaoi with E or darius with grab or urgot with E head on, or you're gonna get stomped very hard. You have to know how to create openings by baiting spells, how long these openings are (know the cooldowns), and how to utilize them. The hardest part being, how to create openings, because that's mostly in your opponent's hands by making mistakes, rather than yours. PS : I was writing the comment before the video ended and I'm glad to see a bunch of the stuff I was saying is said at the end of the video. People tend to overestimate riven's strengths, and be toxic about her, especially about the dashes :'). For all those who think her dashes are OP, go practice mode with riven and buy tier 2 boots and a yuumu. You'll run as fast just with the passive movement speed (without yumuu's active) than when using Qs. Riven's Qs are very short ranged, the E isn't that big too, all those spells are slow, the stun self locks riven in the animation about as long as the stun lasts for the ennemy... 1 of renekton's or LB (and many others) dashes, or 1 garen Q, is more mobility than 3 of riven's Qs, but riven loses all her dmg output by doing this. It takes 3 Qs to get to a fleeing target, and you have no dmg or disengage afterwards. Her strength isn't that either, it's her versatility and nothing else. This is what makes it possible for riven to win any match up, if you play it right (which I guess you could say for any other champ though).
@shinji136 Жыл бұрын
Jax matchup isn't favored for Riven, counterstrike just gimps combo hard. Meanwhile, there are Riven matchups you didn't mention that are favored for her, like Gwen, Camille, Yone and GP, as well as Aatrox, Kayle, Illaoi and Garen to a lesser extent. Fiora is also not a favorable matchup for either side, with it being the premier skill matchup or top lane. Riven is not op and she has a lot of weaknesses, the most obvious of which being the fact if she uses her dashes to gap close she loses them out in her damage output. But you're just going in the opposite extreme of the Redditors bitching about Riven, and vastly downplaying her strengths and match-up spread.
@brocolive1950 Жыл бұрын
@@shinji136 I kinda agree but disagree with you. I don't think I'm downplaying her strengths and match up coverage : A) match up coverage : A.1) in most of these match ups, if riven makes 1 mistake or gets ganked and gets just a little behind, she gets utterly statchecked and stomped untill it's a permadive if the opponent plays it as he should. A.2) it also depends of what level of gameplay we're talking about : - aatrox fiora : a master+ VS master+ riven is even. Pure skill match up. But the lower you go, the more it goes in the opponent's favour, at equal skill level of both players. - illaoi garen GP are all big counters to riven, sure, riven has some room for counterplay, but the opponent has ways to deny any counterplay and make it very onesided. - Gwen Camille : Both even match ups at any elo. A better riven will beat a worse Gwen/Camille, but the opposite is also true. A Gwen/Camille can statcheck a riven and vice versa, and there's always counters to the counter in these match ups. - Yone : a decent riven will destroy a decent yone. A good riven will struggle against a good yone, if the yone has good spacing especially. It's an even match up if both players know what they're doing, but Yone just has more possibilities to outplay or get leads, and better utility for his team with the R engage. - kayle : I honestly don't know, I usually destroy kayle players but I also not so rarely match up against good kayle players who just beat the shit out of you, she surprisingly statchecks lvl 1 and can secure wave control because of it and either : - get the push and keep statchecking with bigger waves + lvl lead and poke you under tower and win lvl 1,2,3,4, eventually cheat recall to keep a lead and fuck u up if you can't push fast enough, or wait for bounce back to thin down waves from a safe range and set up a freeze - or let you push but poking you down a bunch, setting up a lvl 3 freeze, never letting you crash the wave, and making you vulnerable to ganks - Jax : A good riven beats a good jax. A bad jax beats a bad riven. Only a bad riven would combo into jax's E. Jax' E is the counter spell that makes it hard for riven, yeah, but riven can deny the spell through several means : 1) if jax jumps on you with Q+E, press E+W double cast during his jump, this way, you shield the dmg from Q (+W if he used it too), avoid the stun, don't get hit by a single auto, and are ready to punish with all 3 Qs available while he has nothing left. His E is also a long CD (~16-18s), so you still have a good window to all in again with a full combo for the kill, with no room for an answer on his side. 2) If you're in melee range and jax presses E : - you can always stun, Q away, and press E if he Qs on you to catch up, this way you avoid the stun and your shield tanks Q, then you can punish with Q2/Q3 or your Q CD is shorter and you can full engage him shortly after with his E down - same if you E+W double cast away, +1Q and you're out of his Q range, - when he presses E, you can walk back a little, Q3, walk out of E range, and E+W away if he jumps in with Q, then run him down to punish with your Q low remaining CD from Q extention to all in while his E is down. 3) you can also cancel his Q dash with Q3, it's hard to do but still another, risky outplay possibility. This covers all possibilities, apply this algorithm and jax can never hit E on you. Knowing this, as long as riven has all her spells available, she can always poke jax, even if he has all his, by initiating a classic Q>aa>Q2>aa>Q3>aa combo and stop it the second jax presses E, by disengaging using the algorithm above. She can also try to extend Q, go in with Q3 > aa > W and walk away, E out if jax jumps back in. B) Mobility : her mobility is definitely overestimated and even bad compared to most mobile champs, you can never catch up to an ashe that spams E, an LB, a karma or even a teemo with W. Your engage is very reactable and any CC prevents it, nothing like a yone ult, LB dash in, malph ult or even Darius ghost and grab. Riven's mobility is about the same as sett's Q or garen's Q (without mobility items other than boots) with the addition that you can jump walls. A roaming support with mobis will outrun you for example. Riven's mobility only truly resides in her E, because it's much faster than Q, and her Q3 if she can take a shorter route by jumping a wall. C) W stun lasts 0.75s, the animation is 0.3s long if I recall correctly, it's still a good spell to disrupt the opponent, but not a major crazy CC. I'm not saying it's weak there, but that it's definitely not strong. D) Versatility : Don't get me wrong, I still think Riven's a good champ, just not a broken one like a lot of people think. I believe her versatility is her real strength. The way I see it, each of Riven's spells are smaller subdivisions than spells usually are, if you count her Q as 3 smaller spells, it's as if she had a total of 6 spells : 5 little spells and an ult, with low cooldowns to juggle between each. This makes for more possibilities than your typical 3 spell or 2 spells + 1 passive spell champs, who generally also have more impactfull spells, but on longer cooldowns. And Riven's spells combine in different ways with different mechanics, like double casting with E>W+Q or E+W or E+R, or the possibility to Q on a target or on the ground. With the amount of possibilities and combinations Riven has, there's ways to surprise your opponents by choosing a possibility they don't expect, and that's Riven's strength I believe.
