What I mean is that if someone is better than him even if playing Shen, it's not because of his mechanics with Shen are better but because of his overall game mechanics, thus making him the best Shen player.

Great analysis video, was fun to watch. The thing I personally like the most is the fact that you took a replay where protagonist was actually behind 0-2-0 on kills and came back. This shows how macro and clear head are so important. So many times I see a vid titled "This item is broken" just to see the guy is 10-0 at 20 min and game is already won when he buys that "broken item" and think to myself, another clickbait. Anyway as I said, great video, loved it.

I think the Conditioning was also due to the plan of building Jak’Sho, as the bonus resistances from Conditioning would scale harder into Jak’Sho. Otherwise, great video Petu!

This player reminds me a lot in gameplays; losing trades, losing tower, winning the game. Great Analysis Petu, best regards to you PD: Jak'Sho is actually good with Shen due to the last chage in the item; Stacks more Armor/MR and the heal absortion is better against champions BUT now can't absorb heal from minions.

Shen tps at 25:00 as soon as Ryze shows his face top and mid tower is downed. They kill Talon, survive, and team takes another mid tower. Talon dead, Lucian bursts on closest. Enemy team is weak and lose mid inhibitor. The whole game switched tempo from that weird ass Teleport

Since Shen seems to be an off-main pick for him I think it makes sense for him to prioritize the mid and late game, when shen shines, especially given his playstyle than trying to minmax his laning phase. That's why he prioritizes conditioning, overgrowth and TP. He's essentially sacrificing the lane phase and basically daring his opponent to beat him hard enough that he can't run them over with rotations and movement later on.

Love the idea of not giving up even when you’re not doing well. I win games that seem really bad in the start but I think it’s all about helping your teammates and playing off your win condition. You won’t always win like this but definitely saves games.

I truly enjoy the effort of trying to understand the mindset behind plays and decisions. Keep it up! Careful when analyzing Korea as it's macro in challenger is very different from other regions. Perma fighting and greeding there. Also ppl always try ff after they lose first fight which makes Ady's style more difficult to pull off

regarding TP Shen in the late game: I feel like there is a ton of value successfully executing an ult on a drag play while sidelaning top, and being able to TP right back to top to continue the push. The pressure of TP late game shen feels more valuable to me than the early game pressure ignite provides.

With a build that heavily prioritizes scaling and potential in long teamfights over Shen's early duelling strength (Jak'Sho components are a bit mediocre until you get the full item, conditioning over second wind, overgrowth is probably slightly weaker than revitalize early as well), TP is possibly a safer choice meant to save you from sinking hard should you take a bad gank, fall behind, and hard lose the pure 1v1 subsequently. Because you need your items with this build more than 3cs/min mid Petu just building boots, balmi's, radiant virtue, and rolling with it, the higher safety from tp could trump the higher upside from ignite. Also helps make sure you always have a way to join fights in which your build is good while being able to get sidelane farm to buy said items.

The tp is essential for keeping xp level with gwen/other top laner. If he doesn't take it it's much easier get a level disadvantage. which makes it easier for enemy top to snowball. He is making advantages across the map while not giving their top an advantage. That's the key

Great video, very insightful analysis!. I find jaksho very very good especially with ghost as well. I agree with ignite (or exhaust second!!??? Tried it and it works very good against bullies). On the force of nature discussion I am with ady here because the 25% on the full stack is comparable to the chains put on ryze for example, and if you wanted to put chains on Cait then wouldn't randuins be much better? So I think mathematically seems better if you consider more than half of Gwen's damage on you magical since she shouldn't be focusing her middle q on you either way. And there was also karma but kind of irrelevant dmgwise. 1. Love the commentary, would love more like this. 2. Would like to see the teams at every point to see item spikes and farm on the map in total. 3. Also I would love to see what your camera movement would be or what you would take caution on the map at certain points you find important. Edited after finishing the video

I think he picked conditioning to scale armor and m.r. with Jaksho so he could last longer in teamfights.. Second wind is better in Laning/making trades with an opponent early on, but I think KR Shen does not think about just winning the lanes, he aims to scale more late game to tank more dmg and keeping his team healthy by taunting enemies to attack him instead, hence he took conditioning.. I think that's also the reason why he took teleport as a spell just so he could tp back and guard his lane more often while supervising his teammates.. I also agree with the fact that he didn't utilize the teleport more, but overall he still managed to get it together at the end with his teammates.. I don't intend to exaggerate this but Mastering Shen is truly an Art, Thinking what Build you put into Shen also reflects what your thoughts and emotions are at the moment, and I can conclude that this KR Shen that we've seen today is one that truly cares for his team, is very Precautious and also Patient..

I only runs ghost+ignite for months. The truth is flash+taunt sometimes gives you a HUGE disadvantage when you miss it, some similar to dying in the attempt for one more heat of steel procs

You are good at commentary xPetu, I think everything you mention was relevant. I can only suggest that it might be good to pause the game a couple of times and draw some things on an overlay so it is more visually clear. I think you can copy that from Neace, it's a good idea when there are simultaneous things happening on the map. I would have loved to see his POV to check his camera movement too, so maybe it's better to get a vod than a replay file. Good work man, loved the insight and gave me a few ideas on my kench strats

i think the tp wasnt wasted, the top tp on the baron was just because of that, the baron steal, he tped, gained the position and dewarded making his team able to do baron. the gwen bot push was a backfire of that play, but since the baron buff allows a faster recall it wasnt that much. ofc the ignite could made his score way better, good analysis.

Shen player here, I'm a student with a laptop for pc no cap. No offense to the Master Petu, I believe you have really good shen mechanics but I wouldn't say the best, because ill be honest with you, the best shen plays ive seen are yours AND mines too, I know hard to believe, but i believe i got better sher mechanics than you, people melt on my lane and I got next level map dominance, 2 years ago seeing some of your games youve made me realise how the aggressive and unsuspected Es and sneaky attacks work and since I have perfected the art of jabaiting and making the most out of your kit, even versus Master and high diamond players (btw I'm stuck g1 promos because of tilt). From what ive seen though from your games I think in terms of mechanics and skill, I am certain that I can beat you. And of course from overall game efficiency and awareness 100% of the time you are going to be the superior, and thats why you're challenger and xPetu. I got an actual appreciation of you and because of you I play shen. I firmly belive though I got better mechanics and utilization of the kit. If you don't believe me, we can do a friendly match to see if the apprentice will beat the master. ShendingBackup from Greece. Might be good content too who knows..

If you ever do more I tried x champion videos give Olaf a shot. I think he is the polar opposite of Shen. When played properly he is powerful but also unforgiving. I used to have issues with falling off late game but now I go chainsword and virtue every game. People don’t expect the healing durability and damage.

I was taking revitalize on almost every champ since I greed lifesteal/omnivamp items until I realized its early game numbers were inflated since it calculates its amp on fountain healing when you base.

Im gonna comment here for the sake of defending tp on shen or any champion for that matter. This guy plays incredibly proactively, always looking for the next play and how to further the lead of his own team. The play where he tps to tier 2 tower looks weird in a vacuum, but if you think about what it does for him, its actually quite simple when you take consideration into what just happened in the game and what he is trying to do forward. He used tp right after a fight where many people died on the map, making them reset. this includes the fact that gwen is not currently in top as she went mid and backed after. Tping saved only a few minions, but it meant that he was fast enough to push all the way to the tower before gwen could return to harass him while doing so. Right after he pushes it in he leaves to roam again. Essentially making him have no downtime being an unknown on the map for the enemies. He uses tp to speed up is own positioning. From the enemies perspective, he was just around killing people by roaming, and ulting- just when they are about to reset again after this he is already roaming again. gwen is forced to stay top for a little while putting her behind on rotation. This basically means that he is trying to suffocate the enemies mental when it comes to where he is on the map. so in a vacuum its a tp that saves 3 minions, but in the whole picture it allows him to be ahead positionally from his laning opponent while also giving the entire enemy team a very short window to figure out he is already roaming again.

I think your analysis is fact based and precise. I'd definitely watch another one, but the best videos are you playing yourself. All the shen midlane videos were really good, because they feature something new and exciting (like shen mid). One suggestion, instead of making 1hour+ videos, i think you should release multiple 10-20 minute videos, it's more comfortable for the viewer and it's better for your cpm.
