@@sweetgirl070707 Being arrested because her parents wanted to, like they could've let the police investigate her, but she was immediately arrested, if that was me, i would've been so shocked at being betrayed, because once you are in jail they immediately go behind the media's tails and even shit talk about her. If that was me, i would've been harsher and sharper with my words. There's nowhere where that indicates someone is unsympathetic, and to add to that, there's now her brother talking to her like they're 12 and he got told by another dude that she says bad stuff about him, now that's immature, so much for no emotion when her own family is stomping on her, and with the media at that as well. Then add to that, that her friend is acting as if she had male sexual organs instead, and it was their child- no shit she was fucking irritated and rude. Now, it concerns but nothing to me what's true or not, i'm not a warrior of justice nor a political incorrect andy, but the fact that someone is good at hiding their pain -probably, -*-very-*- good at it- it shouldn't just tell you someone's a sociopath, but a very sad being. What a way to find someone to shit about and feel good to it while being socailly correct, "*geeez*" .

@Liam Davis 05 (STUDENT) haha nope 99% is more than enough, it’s beyond a “reasonable” doubt. Not in all cases, it all depends on the level of the crime though. But in this case her defense attorney like one example, made the grandparents as another group that could’ve done it, so the defense made them have reasonable doubt. Also, to get a conviction all have to agree, so you only need one juror really to buy the story to dead lock

well there are lots of cases where innocent people have been found guilty because of this thinking that you just kinda need to know if they did it, thats why the burden of proof is on the state, so i kinda understand why the jury said innocent even if it is dumb better to let go of a criminal then to jail an innocent, like the brendan and steven case

We know nothinng about life, nothing will ever be trasnparent no matter how much evidence you have, unless you have legit footage of the crime. I know its ridiculous but you don't know yourself so you cant argue with that. You might not agree and thats completely fine and personally I feel like just the fact of not reproting your child missing after 30 days should get her atleast 10 years. The investigators and the prosecutors just did a poor job in this case nothing to blame the jury for altho there should be a charge that would punish parents that dont take care of their children and im so surprised nothing actually was mentioned about that, its basically the same thing if my someone were to leave their child in the middle of the woods without reporting it to the police and if the child died youd probably get charged with something altho nothing big sadly.

You're right, all of this is true. However, most people have no CLUE how a court case operates. Why blame the lawyer for defending? Blame the prosecutor of all people. The lawyer (Defender) is just doing his job and while people may find it unethical, he is not wrong. The prosecutor set it up for emotion first for the opening statements. Why would the prosecutor convince the jury based on emotion rather than pure evidence on the case? Because it's easier to win, or just pure stupidity? The defender made a reasonable and clear statement on that, which is how he convinced the jury.

There's so much clear evidence, not presented in this video, that I do *not* understand how the jury did not convict her. The other bag, that she would've had if she didn't do it, was nowhere inside of her home.

This comes to show how bad this whole juror system is. The judge is sleeping in the background while some laymen decide whether it's proven if someone is guilty or not, which in this case might possibly be not that easy. And the longer they take for a decision the longer they are away from their lifes and their families, so their main concern is how to get out of there quick, and that will add up with every day the process takes.

This entire case is horrible and that Casey still walks freely is disgusting. Also the way her defense just threw her dad under the bus is so cold. He actually did or at least tried to kill himself at some point, his suicide letter ended with "Kaylee, here I come" It's honestly just heartbreaking

Even if she drowned like they said, why would she have tape over her mouth and nose, paired with the google searches. How was she possibly found not guilty.
@calabiss4672

Because they didn't prove it. If you don't prove a case then you risk throwing an innocent live in another case in jail. If they were to throw her in jail based off of accusations then what happens to the next person who has less accusations, then less and less? At what point is the line drawn that a person should or not be in jail? The line currently is innocent until PROVEN guilty, that is what the defence lawyer was arguing. The result of this case is not only defending the current defendent, but also future defendents who may be placed in the same position guily or not, the purpose of the trials is to keep the amount of innocent people at a minimum while having the most amount of guilty people punished. The current rule of "innocent until proven guilty" is one of the best rules to keep that statement true. That is why this is the best answer for the case in my opinion.

I remember this case while it was live on tv. I remember thinking oh no there is no WAAAY a mother can killer her child. She just couldn’t have done it. Then I remember seeing that video of her taking to The detective right before she went to jail and thought oh she’s done it.

Bruh how is she not guilty??? Lying the whole time and put freaking duct tape on her daughter. If her daughter already passed away why would anyone put duct tape on her face after the fact. Car was also mentioned to smell like a dead body??? Like hello judge? Disgusts me she walks freely today. It's so obvious something is wrong with her

Fun facts for Americans: In my country, people have to apply to be jury members, and if they're selected, they serve for five years. 10% of the selected jury must have a degree in psychology, social work or pedagogy. For lighter crimes, the verdict is decided by one judge + 2 jury members. For serious crimes, 2 judges + 3 jury members. The judges and the jury members have equal weight in the decision. Make of that what you will, but it sounds more reasonable to me than the "we force 12 randos to decide who goes to prison" system.
