The thing I don’t like about the 6mm Max and other cartridges like it that are proprietary is this guarantees they will never become mainstream. I understand them trying to recoup their development costs, but no big ammo manufacturer is going to pay royalties. Just my $0.02. Thanks for the video Ray!!

I shot the 6MAX. 6mmARC & 6.5 Grendel & 224 Valkyrie all back back to back as did my 3 other friends.We shot from 50 yards to 650 yards. Personally I dont see the 6MAX being any better than the 6ARC. Of the other 3 guys only 1 said they liked the 6max more than 6ARC. And as far as Ammo selection and price the 6MAX is not even in the running.All of us agreed on that. All in all I will stay with the 6ARC.Mine is super accurate. If the 6MAX ammo was cheaper I might try it again.However I see no advantage of 2nd,3rd 4th shot getting on or staying on target better than my 6mmARC. I will stay with 6ARC.Great Video. That's basically the problem with any new caliber (unless it has great advances and also has good industry support), so I'd say the 6mm Max's best chance of becoming popular would be if they got a military contract (which makes more sense, as it would be a much better caliber for LMG's and DMR's than 5.56 NATO, maintaining a single cartridge platoon)

What round did Scott Peterson shoot (think that's the guy who finished 1st?) Is there actually a special bullet design for the 6max or is it a 6mm bullet that is seated differently than the other 6mm rounds, like a 6ARC??? MERRY CHRISTMAS & be safe in your travels!!!

The 6 Max has less recoil and is noticeably flatter shooting than the 6ARC, you don't loose any mag capacity and it uses the same AR15 bolt , feeds and extracts well and all at 55,000 psi which means decent barrel life all in the AR15 sized platform. IMHO, the 6 MAX is very comparable to the 6mm ARC and 22 ARC, but just checks a few more boxes and is just better *****overall***** than similar cartridges I think it would be great 5.56 NATO replacement cartridge. I bet Hornady wishes they had thought of it. I hope it catches on.

They push very similar velocities. With the Max being able to push a bit higher pressures, so the lighter bullets are a bit faster in it over the ARC. Your 100+ gr bullets the edge may lend to the ARC.

@triggernometry1 just as critical as the weight is the longer bullets the arc can properly seat. Copper bullets are often longer to make up for the lower material density compared to lead.

Not sure whether to be conservative with 3-18, go with the middle of the road with 4-20 or go with high mag of 5-25.

It's added 1/2" of real estate to improve grip for precision. Yes, there is a channel that runs to your selector detent and allows you to change the trigger without removing the grip.

The 6 max doesn't make much sense to me, especially with the loading 80-90gr in 6arc. I understand wanting something between 308 and 223, and I'll listen to something between 6arc and 223, but the use cases are minimal, like the varmint hunting hand loader.

1. Less finicky than the 6 ARC for gas gun application when using or not using a suppressor. 2. Maximum capacity magazines. 20=20 and 30=30 3. Substantially stronger bolt mechanism. I have had 2 6ARC bolts fail along with many others. 4. All the 6max requires is a barrel change. Those are some of the reasons I can list quickly . 👍🏼

Nice shooting 60 second procedural or similar freaking sucks but oh well . I'm running 6ARC only in 2024 for PRS Gas Gun Matches because it's what I have . 6ARC is definitely better than running 556N IMO but I'm not nearly as skilled. My goal is to finish in the top 50% which is what I almost always do . My problem I need to work on is getting on target faster. I have issues spotting the target . I usually waste 5 or seconds crank down and then cranking back up . Could be an optic issue as well . I was using 1-10× now I'm using 2-12× . I usually run at 6x or 8x when shooting 600Y and in . Hope all is well and have Merry Xmas and Happy New Year . I'd love to get my hands on 816A2 . Chris Sirois who helped develop 416 , MCX / MPX , and 816 is a good dude .
