If you just report the bug.. they will get a fix for it in less than a week. I've seen that on 3 other videos and I also did it myself. They are super great at staying on top of fixing the bugs and glitches. That's why it has so many updates all the time.. I think it's a great tool and has already paid for itself in a couple of weeks time. This thing is a money maker.

I did report it, I even mentioned it in the video and description. They were more interested in when and where I purchased it then they were to actually fixing the issue. Others might have had a great experience with it but they did me no favors amd I would neither recommend or purchase another one from XTOOL.

Nah I'm a Chrysler tech. Been one for 20 years. There is not many functions that do not work on the d8 and if you find one they address it. Now that being said some functions are difficult to navigate and find. Tool has been well worth it for me so far. But it does appear that the tool is more geared towards European brands...and seems to be in the BETA stage of dev. The one thing I don't like is that the tablet is android 5 and the Google Play store apps won't install. Other than that it's a good tool for the price point. Programs keys, HVAC recalibrate works, misfire monitors, scans every module, bi-directional seems to work well, pulls pin codes, resets modules. I was having a few issues but they fixed em within a week.

Man, sorry to say but I couldn't get mine to do anything. And from some of the comments other have the same issues I did. I ended up going with a higher end topdon phoenix instead. Thanks your your comment. Cheers.

@@BentOaksGarage Yah all good man. I checked out the topdon as well. Looked really good. It was just 475$ over my price point. I like the FCA access aspect and the functionality looked way more polished. Cheers bud.

I just purchased a xtool D8 BT and it appeared to be a used unit sold as new when I received it direct from xtool. CS was great and compensated me for the trouble. Then I decided to run CPU-Z on my unit and discovered that the specs were different. My unit had a Rockchip RK3066 that runs at 1.6 GHz instead of the RK3266 at 1.8 GHz that they advertise with the unit. The storage was advertised as 64 GB but CPU-Z showed 10 GB. Xtool insisted that the CPU-Z program was reporting wrong information.. yeah right. I would encourage any current owner of a xtool D8 / D8 BT run a CPU-Z test to verify the specs in their unit...

Glad to see I'm not the only person that had (has) issues with it. Cheers

You must have gotten a lemon or something. (or maybe it's just not so well with newer years- I'm not sure about how current the coverage is). I know that it worked well on a 2002 Acura MDX, pulled codes to copy keys, actuated everything I tested it on, purge valves, fuel pump, windows/door locks/ headlights/ dash indicator lights all tested, heated seats, I could turn off injectors on each cylinder while it was running, I could graph nearly 400 pids of live data. It even goes into more specialized options, like turning off your seat belt dinger, or auto locking the doors when you take off driving, etc.. on and on.. Also worked on a 2005 Durango, 2010 Dodge Nitro, 2003 Mazda 6, 2002 F350 7.3L diesel, and I made keys and fobs for most of these cars too.. ABS diagnosis with individually actuating each valve, Moon roof operation, I could open it with the tool, but not the regular switch in the car (easy fix). To be fair, I never tried to change mileage, but I did see a video of a guy doing it on a Dodge truck......... Plus, you have to understand that some of the things don't work on this because your car simply doesn't have it equipped.. It still shows all the options, even if your car only has some of them installed.. Such as, if your car doesn't have heated seats, and you go into the D8 and tell it to turn on the heated seats that you don't have, then it's obviously not going to work. IDK. I've literally never ran into anything that hasn't worked. Every actuation test that I needed to test something on, has worked well and saved me a lot of time and headaches. Like I said, this thing is already free to me now- it paid for itself 2 or 3 times over already. Cheers..

I feel the one I had just was not working like everyone was raving about. I tried three different cars and barely did anything to any of them. Tech support was less then helpful when I reached out to them. They were more interested to me proving when and where I purchased the machine and how video proof of this happening. Just struck the wrong cord with me. I have reached out to Autel and asked a lot of common and technical questions of the 909 pro or even the 919 (like what's the main difference, which would work best for me) hopefully they get back to me soon because the crappy scanner I use now is so out dated I hate using it. Especially in my videos.

I did not see any power. Did you have the key in the ON position? I just remembered pontiac is GM and its hard finding tools that work for GM exvept for key programming since its so easy. That remote programming should work though. Is there a function for programming by system? Try 1 by 1 with that
@BentOaksGarage

Yes power was on, I had so many issues with that machine that I sent it back. With that one, I tried both through special features and a different way after you do a system scan. Neither of them worked. I ended up purchasing a Topdon Phoenix Elite and took care of the key fob with zero issues. Also the Topdon is much easier to use and better laid out. Cheers

@@BentOaksGarage I'm a locksmith with a Autel that's more of a backup tool for me for key programming, and a primary tool for editing and marrying parts on cars, BCM, ECM, Immo rings, and such. For anything GM, I just refer it out to a diagnostics shop I know of, since it all seems to be dealer tool specific.

Xtool is kinda waste of time product. I own a D8 tool, and it doesn't do what they promise to do, or features that show up that D8 can do. Many KZbinrs post the "run down" of the tool with their 8% discount code. It's all good, but when push comes to shove, and you need the device to reset, for example, a theft deterrent system after battery swap or engine swap, it doesn't complete the task. Also has issues working with BMW and Chevy Volts. Do not get me wrong, it can roll down your window and show you live data, but so can most $200 scan tools. When it comes to crucial programming or immobilizer reset, forget about it. When contacting Xtool, they initially respond but then after you follow their instruction and it still doesn't work, they completely ignore your emails or WhatsApp chat. Waste of time and money for our shop. This is from a mechanic standpoint, not just a youtube browser through the program. That's how they get the sales, with fancy features that don't actually do the job, but features are listed. When they say it's "too good to be true," it probably is. I was once excited too for Xtool and took the hook. Now I know why Autel and Snapon cost so much and aren't lowering their prices. They know who their competitors are and aren't falling for it. I see more and more comments like mine of people coming out and complaining about Xtool customer service and overall product. My advice, look for mechanics who actually use the tool day in and day out, not a review specialist. I wish Xtool was what it lists to be.

I couldn't of said it better. I've been getting a lot of hate over my honest thoughts about it. At least I'm not alone feeling this way. I have decided to purchase the Topdon Phoenix Smart after sending the D8 back. I hope that one can live up to its name! Huge jump from $699 to $2,300! Cheers.

@@BentOaksGarage let me know how the Topdon tool works out. I'm looking for a programming tool as well, not just a live data tool.
