@pdubcentral5 жыл бұрын
I absolutely love when you have clips that are not goals. Like he makes so many terrific plays that you won’t see because the guy didn’t finish the play, but it shouldn’t take away from his incredible timing. The way he knows the exact speed and pace to put on the puck while timing the players arrival is insane. And yes you’ll see a lot of Kunitz in here, but we all know Crosby made Kunitz worth something. But other than that this guy plays with a ton of different players and seems to create chemistry and like the guy said he makes the guys around him so much better. He never needs high end players on his line, he makes everyone look like a star and this was definitely one of the best videos to showcase that part of his game. Because how do you not score when he basically uses you as target to deflect the puck in the net!
@learnstuff42115 жыл бұрын
Seeing him find angles and holes. Seeing him lift the puck over his opponents sticks. Seeing him put the puck, thru heavy traffic, directly on the stock of his teammates, in the most odds-defying circumstances, time and again. It's incredible.

This is why he's the best, he wasn't gifted with God given skill, he had to earn it. I hope everyone watching this video appreciates how a large majority of these are passes no one else in the (history of the) league could make. Christ's skills set is unmatched in any era. It's funny reading the comments and seeing how limited some people are in their ability to analyze game play, that they must rely on regressive and 2dimensional measures like looking merely at points. Y'all are funny. There are many mathematical realities that invalidate a points-centric assessment of a player, lol. There is a reason why WAYNE GRETZKY IS A CROSBY FANBOY. He's the best, bar none. Put five Crosbys on the ice against 5 any combo of guys past or present, and I'd wager hardly anyone else even touches the puck.

THIS IS GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I bet you could have made this 3 or 4 hours long if you wanted to. I watched Sid play when he played for Dartmouth and Rimouski. I remember one night, we counted how many assists he could have had if his teammate scored and we counted 15 different times he set up guys. He ended the night with 3 points I think but he could have had so many more. It was like that every night and even in the NHL. Great video again! :)

I love how he receives the puck at 12:44 / 12:45. How's one way with his lower legs, and another with his body and torso to snag it from behind so he can throw off the other team. Given how often he's double and triple-teamed, it frees up so many avenues to his teammates in the aftermath.

I know it's the least of his feats on this reel, and unlike many other of his maneuvers, that other players can do it, but it just shows how CONSISTENTLY he plays every moment to its max potential.

Imagine how many points this guy would of had already if he had a true finisher the whole time and didn't miss two years of his career. Imagine him and Guentzel getting drafted the same year and playing a full career sibe by side, would've been so unfair.
@chrisg77315 жыл бұрын
guentzel isnt even good haha. penguins fans are so embarrassing. hes a 30-40 goal guy WITH crosby. youre acting like hes teemu selanne. hes a streaky, undersized winger. of all the players you wish crosby had more time with, its guentzel? embarrassing. how about, like, marian hossa? remember sid and hossa together? their numbers were pretty damn good.
@WilliamStewart15 жыл бұрын
@@chrisg7731 I don't agree at all. Guentzel set a rookie record in the playoffs, and then goes and has a 40 goal year. He's an elite finisher, always in the right spot at the right time and has a wicked release. He's small yes but he plays with a lot of heart, is very quick, and sees the ice extremely well. Sid has been playing for 12 years now, I've yet to see him play with winger of this caliber and I've watched pretty much every one of Sids games. Considering the struggles this team has gone through this year it's been Sid and Jake all year who dragged the team into the playoffs.

William Stewart I agree their a fucking duo! Every time you see them on the ice it’s trouble.
@chrisg77315 жыл бұрын
@@WilliamStewart1 because they snuck into the playoffs with them doesnt make them an elite pairing. guentzel isnt good. think back to this comment when guentzel is topped out in 3-4 years. he brings nothing besides that wrist shot and, yes, some heart, but heart cant overcome everything he doesnt bring to the table. it was just ok for a while since the pens were stacked. the pens are donezo now, and where is 59? crosby made a huge circle around the offensive zone last night, somehow maintaining possession through like 3 islanders before passing it across to guentzel who......... just fucking watched the puck because he wasnt ready. after his juicy contract extension, thats not acceptable anymore. long story short, hes a 5.5/10. trade him while his stock is high.
@chrisg77315 жыл бұрын

imo, if you wanna encapsulate Crosby’s impact- look at the elevation & chemistry of his line-mates & teammates when they’re on the ice with him. He literally helped Kunitz go from an average 2nd/3rd liner at best to an all-star & gold medalist. The very fact Canada chose Kunitz just because of his link up with Crosby is impressive & doesn’t get talked about enough. The list goes on: Dupuis, Guentzel, Rust, Sheary, Hornqvist, etc. most of these guys shouldn’t or wouldn’t have ever even been considered on the first 2 lines if it weren’t for Crosby.

Many of these passes are made possible by the type of stick he uses. A little short and a relatively flat curve. Not many guys use this setup in the NHL today. Most have crazy angled blades and long shafts with too much flex. Goes to show you how effective a quick little backhand pass can be.

First of all: Fine piece of work, as expected from the great Laflamme. Second of all: I knew Kunitz was a great fit at Crosby‘s wing, but I never realized how good he was. If you compare him to Guentzel/Sheary, it almost seems like that he buries every pass Crosby gives to him. I am far from saying Sheary and especially Guentzel don‘t capitalize enough off of Crosby‘s passes, but man.. Kunitz sure knew how to play with an All-Time-Great like Sid.
@chrisg77315 жыл бұрын
i loved kunitz, but he left a lot of goals on the table that sid set him up for. dupuis, too, and guerin. i wasnt crazy about guerin, loved dupuis, but all three of them couldve had 50-60 goals if they had more touch and finish. only player ive ever seen finish on the same level that crosby set him up was hossa. too bad he left without playing a full season with sid. couldve been magical. i honestly see no way he doesnt score 60 playing with sid.
