Hookll Extra 300 More Flights

G'day All,
Just another day at the field with a few of the guys. I got in a few flights on the Extra 300, along with a selection of other planes. I have a long way to go before I have real control over this one. But I'll keep at it.

Is this plane any good at 3d?

I think it is a great sports flyer and does some 3d, ok. The Dynam Pitts Python was better at most 3d moves for sure. It's also worth noting that I'm not a 3d pilot. I prefer to fly scale aerobatics.

How much weight did you add to get the CG descent? I corkscrewed mine in from a programming error setting up the stabilizer and when I rebuilt it I used a leopard 3536 and pushed the battery to the outer firewall and still needed 3.5oz to trim it.

Hi Jonathan, no extra weight added to mine. Just a 4s 2200 60-120c heavy-duty battery all the way forward and away went. The C of G is a long way back, but still within the range that it doesn't feel tail heavy. If i remember next time i have it down, I'll remeasure the C of G for you. Cheers Michael

I build it yesterday. This would be my question too. The manual says 8cm from the front of the wing. Mine is way more in the back, more like 16cm.

Amazing how sometimes You can slightly botch a landing an have massive damage or take a full speed nose dive and have none? Great show MD, so Psyched to fly but nothing other than howling wind and rain lately. Beauty Matey.

Cheers Jono, oh and I have had some botched landings too! I like the wind for the slope, but it has to be from the right direction. And I have botched a few landings there too. i hope you get to fly soon

I just got one and the fuselage is damaged, the manufacturer refuses to honor any quality of their product. They will not ship any parts to replace damaged parts from their factory so if it arrives damaged you're stuck with it

Just got one for Christmas and was wondering if you can fly it on a 3s 2200mah as well as 4s. I have both but just wanted to know if I could get more flight time because of this. Thanks

G'day Tom. I haven't tried a 3s yet. But it has plenty of power on 4s, I did think.... Maybe a 3s with enough weight to keep the CG in the right spot might be ok for flights without any challenging aerobatics

Sounds like you have a lot off pleasure flying this extra 300 ^^ The last landing was... May be whells r to small on this grasses runway . Whith witch cam r u zooming ? Or is it done in post production ? Cheers

Hi Patrice, It is always a good laugh at the field with these guys! The zooming is all done post production. I just use the olf GoPro. The quality is not great, but it is just RC planes hahaha.

Hello, greetings !! Very cool flight !! Could you help me? How did you adjust the CG, only with the 4S battery all forward, according to the video, this? Or did you add some extra weight to the plane’s nose?

G'day Leao, I only ran it with the Turnigy Heavy Duty 4s 2200 60c onboard (250g), but I think after a few flights I'd like it with a bit more nose weight. I will stick some lead under the front cowl. Cheers Michael

@@leaobicalho3245 I put it in as far in the front as it will go (there is plastic pocket) and the tab on the front of the canopy holds the battery in place

@@xxMADxMICKxx Hi Michael, thank you very much !! I did what you said !! First, my 3S battery only has 170 grams, so I put the difference (250gr-170g) of 80 grams on the front, attached to the engine grille !! Only with this change I already managed to have a very stable and pleasant flight !! I was really sad, because flying with heavy weight is very difficult, and I only fly for 3 months, I almost crashed the plane !! Today I did 20 minutes of flight with the correct CG, and thank God everything went wonderfully well !! Thank you very much !!!
