The main reason Nissan always lunching the Patrol in Abu Dhabi and not in city say like Dubai goes back to a story that happened back in 1990 during the Gulf War. It's 1990 and the UAE military needed 4x4 for the war's effort so they approached the local dealers of Toyota and Nissan. The only Toyota dealer then was Dubai based and asked for X amount of $$$ upfront for the order while Nissan's Abu Dhabi based dealer provided the order sheet with price marked as '0' and said to them put the quantity you want.. It's all free to the military 😂. The story is always repeated and told by the current president of UAE in how Nissan's dealer/owner loyalty to the country was limitless ...

So what Paul said that the Y63 LHD is going to produced along side Y62 RHD on a dual production line makes absolutely no sense! Why not produce the Y63 LHD and the Y63 RHD on the same dual production line then? Someone at Nissan needs to be fired for making such a dumb decision.

You might find the South Africa Spec Land Cruiser still has the old 4.2 diesel. I know that countries like PNG still sell Africa spec Land Cruisers and they have 4.2d (non turbo) in order to run the lower quality diesels in these countries. There were starting to import the 4cly in the second half of this years. V8s are not sold new due to the quality of diesel.

Good to see they have the Mitsubishi insignia sewn into the seats already, is the new Pajero going to be built on the same platform that was quoted years ago? Might explain the battery recess with Mitsubishi having a bent on PHEVs.

The original name Tesla wanted for their "Model 3" was "Model E", that way, as you've already pointed out, when all their model names are combined, it would spell S-E-X-Y. But Ford has already trademarked Model E. So Tesla settled for Model 3 instead.

Funny thing is that people been complaining that the patrol was outdated compared to the cruiser but definitely was more affordable. So Nissan said okay, they go and update the hell outta it and surpass the quality of the 300 series and now that the price will be the same they are coming out and saying its to bloddy expensive 🤦

Most of the Middle East buys way more Land Cruisers than Patrols. Only in the UAE do you see the Patrol/LC ratio closer in sales. The Y61 is more appreciated than the Y62 for durability reasons. I think the use of air suspension instead of hydraulic will backfire in the middle east. Its a cheaper and less durable system. The redesign looks nice but the push button shifter will be a turn off in the Middle Eastern market. I predict Nissan will put a shift lever back in the Y63 by demand.
@mohammeds54583 ай бұрын
When you said "only in the UAE," it sounds like you mean that you wouldn't see a Y62 anywhere else in the world, and that's incorrect. You live in overseas country and know nothing, I'm from Saudi Arabia, and after the Land Cruiser 300 was released, the Patrol Y62 became even more on streets than the Land Cruiser 300, due to two reasons: 1. It is cheaper than the LC300. 2. It is more reliable than the LC300, with no engine breakdowns.

@CACressida Exactly. However I disagree with the air suspension and push button shifter being a turnoff here. People received it p well at the launch.

I see you talking about the demand for oversized dual cab utes. I see Foton say they are going to return to Australia. They have a couple of bigger dual cabs in their lineup. Design may be a homage but at the right price, who knows how many they could sell. They are Chinese but built in the Phillipines from what I can work out. Seems like under powered engine but is Bosch 48v mild hybrid designed by Ricardo in the UK.

Here in South Africa we can have the Patrol only in what Nissan here call a LE Premium spec and those currently sell for around 126K AUD. The LC we can get either in Petrol as the GR-S and ZX ( 176k and 171k AUD base price ) or in diesel as a GX-R, GR-S and ZX spec. (base price starting at GX 122k, GR-S @ 173k and the diesel ZX @ 168k AUD). NISSAN is my absolute favorite with only one BIG negative and that being its fuel consumption. I currently drive a Y62 and also had a y61 and it was both vehicle's Achilles heel name very thirsty.

@MaXimus6667893 ай бұрын
The Patrol is most popular in the UAE than any other Middle Eastern country, Paul if you visit Qatar you'll see the complete opposite and the Land Cruiser is everywhere. Reason that I've understood why the Patrol is so popular in the UAE is because back in the day during some war the family of the Nissan dealer in Abu Dhabi supported the UAE by offering as many vehicles as assistance. This has now lead to a sense of patriotism to the brand. Probably can check with Nissan PR rep, but I'd hedge a bet most amount of Patrols sold globally are in UAE. Lastly I wasn't able to go to the launch unfortunately, but could you clarify that all versions you saw were on air suspension?
@markhill22163 ай бұрын
I wonder what the fuel economy will be - petrol V6 - twin turbo - sounds like a Lexus GX and that has reasonably high fuel usage. Add in the extra weight and you have a V8 fuel consumption straight up.

The 3.5 and 3.8 should have an electric force (hybrid) 3.5 should have 450 hp and the 3.8 should have 390 hp. The electric force for 3.5 should focus on the more efficient and little more power but the 3.8 should focus on power and efficient equally Thus both of them will have better efficiency and more power
