YABBIES VS PIPIS - what bait won ???

Great video! My favorite style of fishing, the surf beach, no one around. Catch the bait at your feet and put the rod in the rod holder & wait! Nothing wrong with the old pipi at all! I like to catch pipis and beach worms where I fish. Doesn't get much better!

Good stuff mate. Some nice fish there, especially the Tarwhine 👍🏻Which are a better fish than bream (fight better, easier to fillet, more flesh and taste better). Pippi’s are a dynamite bait fished fresh (alive) from the beach you picked them from. We don’t get as many up my way (Ballina/EvansHd) these days, mostly due to Pros raking the beach for them, and out-of-towners coming down from Brisbane/Goldy and illegally taking them home to eat. They (pippi’s) made an appearance, the most I’ve seen in years, back in November, me and a mate had few good sessions on the Tarwhine, bream and big dart before they were gone again 🤷‍♂️. I just collect enough for a session, stick a handful in my bait bucket and leave the rest with my gear. Then fish a gutter, to bait up I take one out, smash the shell on the Alvey star/drag nut remove the flesh then on the hook - dynamite. Just for stamps, and anyone reading this : Pippi’s are a very ordinary bait, Frozen 🥶. The bag limit is Fifty, and it’s illegal to take them past the High Tide mark from the beach you found them (you can’t take them home)

Yeah pipis are good bait tarwhine love them some days are hard to find them here too but been heaps lately yeah can't take them here ever but I just find a few why iam there to use for bait on the beach thanks mate cheers 👍

Had quite a few Crab bites on toes doin that in the 70's...When using Pipi's'' Use some stocking.. or Supa Glue!! Best fish caught on such a hard bait to maintain on the hook..

Thanks mate never try hardbody lure on beach for whiting only soft plastics Berkley gulp 2 inch worms came colour caught good whiting 👍

@@stickyfishyfishing not joking. There’s a few species of fish here in the saltwater that mainly eat seaweed. Freezer peas work for bait to catch them. Not sure about where your at though. I believe you have a species that eats seaweed as well. I don’t see why it wouldn’t work there. Nothing beats a sand shrimp here(yabbies) though. Clams(pippies) work here as well just not as good as sand shrimp. Thank you for sharing.

Yabbies every day of the week except they don't stay on the hook that well in the surf. Live beach worms out fish both of them.
