डायबिटीज में किस प्रकार की रोटी खानी चाहिएं | Reduce Sugar Levels With This Roti
In this video, Dr. Nivedita discusses what type of grain chapati should be eaten by diabetic patients.
Chapati is India's staple, with high amounts of carbohydrates significantly impacting sugar concerns. Our food provides two vital nutrient categories: macros (carbs, proteins, fats) essential in substantial quantities, and micros (minerals, vitamins) required in minimal amounts, encompassing minerals and vitamins.
Sugar comes from 2 types of carbohydrates. The first is simple carbohydrates, and the second is complex carbohydrates.
Simple Carbohydrates:- The food that tastes sweet when we eat is called simple carbohydrates foods.
Complex Carbohydrates:- The food that doesn't taste sweet while eating and is made from starch is called complex carbohydrates.
Chapati:- It is the primary source of carbohydrates for Indians, which contains 70% of carbohydrates & 12 % of fibre.
Wheat Chapati:- It contains 72% carbohydrates and 12% fibre, effective carbohydrates at max. 60gms. One chapati equals 20 gms of carbohydrates, and 20 gms of carbohydrates equals four teaspoons of sugar.
LIST OF SOME BEST FLOURS FOR DIABETES PATIENTS:-
Diabetes patients should eat millet chapati because it contains few carbohydrates compared to wheat chapati. There are many types, like kodo millets, little millets, barnyard millet, browntop millets, and foxtail millets. These millets have 55-57% carbohydrates and 6-12% fibre.
Barley is also a good alternative for diabetes patients; it has 17.8% of fibre and 57-58% of carbohydrates. One barley chapati equals 3.5 teaspoons of sugar.
Gram flour is the best flour in the category of flour because it contains 45% of carbohydrates and 17% of fibre. Gram flour chapati is very effective for reducing blood sugar levels. For more benefits, you can add the pulp of green leafy vegetables in gram flour for making chapati.
Suppose you add these flours to your diet. In that case, your blood sugar levels will be controlled, and diabetes will be reversed because these foods have a shallow glycemic index, fewer carbohydrates, more fibre and are rich in nutrients due to the pulp of green leafy vegetables.
