Due to the dialogue in previous episodes and the context clues too, it’s safe to say Riley is 100% dead. It’s also heavily implied that Ellie killed her after she turned. Ellie mentioned she has killed a person before to Joel and didn’t want to talk about it. She was in the QZ prior to being with Joel and Tess and Marlene’s set up must of still been within, just hidden so it’s safe to say that kill was Riley.

I’m pretty sure Riley is dead just cause when Joel was trying to comfort her when she shot that guy, Ellie told him I wasn’t her first time. When Joel tried to dig further at a later point, Ellie didn’t want to talk about it. I could be wrong, but if Riley was the person Ellie had to shoot that would make sense why she was so closed to talking to Joel about it. Cause her first time probably was killing her best friend and girl she liked. I could be off but that’s my current thought process on what happened with riley. Edit: sorry. Bad wording. Riley is definitely dead. My comment was meant to be that I think Ellie had to kill her. They were debating the fate of Riley and how things likely happened.

I'm sure Riley is dead. But what Ellie technically said to Joel is it's not the first time she has killed anyone. Maybe she had to kill Riley or she just counts the 2 infect she had killed up to that point.

Ellie had to shoot Riley, out of the 2 she was the only one that turned. From the beginning they say it, 1) when Marlene said WAS Riley a terrorist and Ellie became sad 2) when Ellie said that wasn't her first time and she never told Joel who she had to kill. Now I know why they showed her stab that one when it was trapped under the rocks, although it looked like she was afraid, I can now recall the look after she stabbed it, it was hate and knowing one of those was the result of her friend's death.

Wasn't trying to but Tommy was def getting guilt tripped by Joel in taking Ellie. So in a way, it kind of was manipulating, mainly because Tommy already stated he needed to stay with his wife and child and couldn't do the stuff he did for Joel before. Even his wife stated that he was "following" Joel. Tommy is influenced by Joel and got guilt tripped into taking Ellie. Unless there's another word that describes someone guilt tripping and using emotional sides to a person to get what they want.

I think it's hilarious how everyone keeps mentioning that. It was my first reaction as well when I saw it in the game. I'm actually surprised they included that in the show but I'm glad they did. It kind of highlights just how careless they were being the whole time.

Joel definintely manipulate his brother, but it was infact for the greater good and to protect someone else as well. A lot of people really dislike the word manipulate though. It's simple, if you are trying to convince someone of something or change their mind, its manipulation. Even if its something as simple as what toppings they want for their pizza. Doesn't mean its evil

I think everyone watching this episode including me maybe not people that played the game but everyone else was anticipating a jump scare the entire episode and what’s funny is it never happened😭😭even when the zombie pulled up he just casually strolled in the store😂😂😂😂I loved this episode

Between the heartwarming cute moments showcasing Ellie and Riley finally being able to act like kids again for once, if only for a little while...... only to rip it all away again for the seventh time in a row (damn you, show), this never ending River of tragedy that follows Ellie is emblematic of not just the shows central theme but why Ellie continues to fight, to carry on. It showcases her and Riley on opposite sides of an ideological, real and tribalistic conflict before they lay down their arms and come together to just be close for a little while because they're each others purpose in this moment; a fascinating parallel to the Bill and Frank love story and why it matters greatly when Ellie continues to lose and lose. And now that she does have someone who looks after her, who she can depend on, who matters to them, she’ll be damned if she loses that kind of connection again. For Riley’s sake and everyone else who died, Ellie will finish this journey……even if it kills her.

I also sit on edge watching this ep, I know Ellie is alive but still, I feel like something will jump out of nowhere anytime 😂 I read lot of people said this ep is boring, but as someone who doesn't play game like me this ep is necessary, it show how Ellie become Ellie now, and it prove how Joel saying that she doesn't know what loss is from last ep, is wrong, she loss as much as he is, I think this event will do better to their relationship.

riley got bit. and they talked about how only ellie made it and it's heavily implied so far that she had to put riley down herself in earlier scenes. i think the whole theme is that ellie is special, she's The cure, they're trying to get her to the fireflies to find a cure because she's "the real deal" like they said. it would probably step on the theme a bit if riley jus randomly showed up later also immune. and even then, wouldn't she have been with ellie when marlene was expending all of their resources to transport ellie across the country to be the cure? because they were both at the mall. so why would marlene, the firefly leader, transport ellie but not riley, an actual firefly, if they were both immune? sure they didn't outright show riley turning and being shot (yet at least) but the implication is there and bad enough. while they didn't show it directly, the context and story itself 100% confirms it through a lot of context

Most people don't know this, but In Mortal Kombat II, Baraka and Mileena are lovers. It's a coincidence that Ellie and Riley chose to fight as them at the arcade. Whether the creators knew it or not, their gameplay did showcase a grim foreshadowing.

It's silly for anyone to claim TLOU is not about action, when like 80% of the entire game is action, creating weapons, bombs, shanks, etc. Even when Joel got impaled in the game, it was an intense shoot out and fight across the entire building and in a grapple battle Joel and the other guy fall several stories and get impaled by rebar. What makes the scenes EXTREMELY IMPACTFUL in the game is because you see all the FIGHTS for SURIVIVAL that leads up to those few heartwarming moments. The show is adapting all the drama and dialogue really well, but without the fighting for survival against infected and humans we are missing out on a lot which made TLOU special.

I loved all the episodes up till this one, i found it simply boring. Maybe because everything was hinted before, except Ellie being queer but that was the most overrepeated spoiler since ep3. On the other hand all reviewers and reactors seem to love this episode. What's wrong with me?

I am with 2 of my closest friends watching TV lol. You’re not gonna catch people like me looking miserable cuz even if the episode is mid…I’m not gonna be bored. So thats all there is too it. I dont care about the contents of the episode much. AdorkableNerd was waiting for the kid to die and move on since they already implied Riley gone and I focused the discussion on Bella/Ellies acting. This was also our shortest post discussion of the series. Nothing to say. I normally stick with what i found positive about the episode. I personally want more action but I accept that it’s not and people attack you for voicing that. So i dont talk about what id like to see.
