Man I was just talkin about y'all not 30 minutes ago, about how I believe it's time for y'all to drop another video and I was super excited for it. The former Captain of the other team didn't graduate, he's a 3rd year that 'retired' after the previous tournament. Kind of like how Karasuno's 3rd years had the discussion at the end of season 1 saying how they could stop and let the 2nd and 1st years take over. For context, in the show(and Japan) it was only recently that 3rd year high schoolers were able to participate in spring tournaments. Usually they're focused on their final 6 months of school and either applying for college or looking for jobs.

The former captain retired like the teachers were trying to get Karasuno's third years to do. Only schools that are really serious about volleyball keep their third years in the spring. Not even Dateko did

I mean Dateko is serious about volleyball, it's more like the team that are the favorite to win the tournament are the teams that keep their third years. Seijoh and Shiratorizawa are the favorites that's why they probably kept all their third year. I mean Dateko lost to Karasuno in S1, so they're far from being one of the best teams in the prefecture.

Moniwa (Former captain) admitted himself that the 3rd year class of Dateko was a dud. They always had the iron wall but that class wasn't that good, so that could've played a part in them retiring. But we don't know if Futakuchi, Aone and them stayed after the next years preliminaries. *Spoiler Ahead* We just know that once they were 3rd years they finally got to go to Nationals the following tournament after Karasuno went 🤷🏽‍♀️

Third years usually don't play in the spring tournament because they are busy studying for entrance exams. Our third years stayed because they love volleyball too much (other schools have third years that stayed but some have third years that left) Their old captain didn't graduate yet, he's just a third year that left the club to study.

So what happened here is Nekoma saw how Hinata and Kageyama quick attack was to fast go read block. So they had one person commit block Hinata to limit their options (follow only Hinata). The other two blockers would be able to focus on blocking anything else. After Hinata kept getting blocked they switched to normal sets so he could hit with his eyes open and have more options. Read blocking is essentially paying attention to what's going on and blocking the person being set to. It can be defeated by a quick attack. Commit blocking is when you mark a specific person and only block them, good for limiting options on the opposite team. Both have advantages and disadvantages so it's all part of your strategy.
