Used to deliver boats all over the world, and northern California is one of my favourite places to be. That's coming from a kiwi. Smooth seas.

It is pretty amazing up there! We can't wait to someday sail into New Zealand, it seems like there is a lot of sailors there so there must be some great places to explore by the water

I think there are only river otters there in Fort Bragg. There's a bounty on the purple sea urchins o the North coast. As a side note, the original Overboard was filmed in the Noyo harbor at Fort Bragg.

I hate large following seas. I had a three hour passage that resembled what you had (much smaller boat so not as large waves as "yours" but in proportion to the boats size) and I arrived full of sweat with my heart beating really fast. I rather not do that again. I have an autopilot but I didn't trust it to be quick enough so I steered manually to compensate for the waves.

I’m with you there, 100%. Such an uneasy feeling with large following seas. I’ve found myself in a couple situations with our measly 28ft boat that were pretty scary. And every few sets there would be an even larger roller come through. I’d almost rather head into them than have them following.

I am so glad smellavision doesn't exist yet. 😆. This series has been fun. But I am looking forward to more sailing videos. Stay Safe and keep chasing your Dreams!

I'm thinking about getting into delivering boats. Not sure what all I need for tickets yet. Could be a fun job. I commercial fished for 16 years. I'm used to the kinda weather you're in there.... but still pulling tuna up in Canada. Fished from canada to northern California chasing albacore. Would love delivering yachts instead. Any tips welcome! Thanks for the videos.

yeah dude, the funniest thing was when we took one massive wave on the beam and it almost laid us over and Camille, who has only spent time on the ocean on sailboats, asked what happens to a powerboat when it capsizes and asked if it rights itself like a sailboat and we said "no it sinks like a stone" the look on her face was priceless

That sea state is common there. That's why I don't like anything above Santa Barbara anymore

Why not check the weather and wait for a better weather window... more than 15mph winds should mean no go
@SailorJames4 жыл бұрын
Well there is only so much waiting for weather you can do on a yacht delivery as every day the new owner is paying 3 salaries and food costs. We had just waited out weather and there was much more coming in a few days time so we had to take the weather window we had. It was uncomfortable but not dangerous at all and kept us from getting stuck there for days and days
